I am wondering, what is the reasoning behind this?
Why would someone want multiple accounts?
Reasons I've seen for having multiple accounts: Liking another name but not wanting to give up the name you have (Runs were transferred later so it worked out) Kinda tying in with that, "short name rarity" thing from twitter/MineCraft where rare names are worth a lot (not like that's true here so IDK why he did it) Posting extremely shitty things thinking your main won't get in trouble (FYI, IP tracing is a thing) Ban evasion (See above comment) Submitting fake runs to test mods (I don't even know why he made an alt for this, since he said it was him later) Ability to submit a second run on the board and have both it and your real PB show (It was a blindfolded run and we don't have a category for it so none of us really care and it's cool for it to be there)
the reason i would want to have multiple accounts is to name snipe. thats it, but now i can change my name because i have a dot and thats better
Thanks for all thoses responses :) , if you asked why this question yeah it was about usernames, not ban evading or spamming/trolling. I know people having multiple SR.C account just because they liked getting names and people didn't realy cared before the new Username system. I prefer ask here before doing it and getting banned ^^"
It's just one line in the rules, I was told about it myself and luckily wasn't banned after making a second account for the sake of name sniping. It's pretty well hidden in the rules, but I can 100% get why it's there. Like others have said, it makes ban evasion prevalent and lets people do what they do on twitter and say dumb stuff until they get banned on an account they don't care for. Good rule to have in place, glad the site mods were lenient with me.
To quote the rules directly: "You are permitted to have exactly one account on the site. Alternate accounts will be banned."
It's the only thing in the rules that isn't bulleted despite just being a rule and not a clarification, I think that's why it flies under the radar.
@garsh That’s a good point. Either way, it needs clarification.
