Bayonetta Speedrun Skips Tutorial & Explanation

Chapter 1 Water Pool Skip

There is a skip that allows runners now to skip the early fight in chapter 1 by the two statues. This skip was introduced by Psychedelist. This skip is performed by Jumping to Grab the side wall, and then doing Triple Punch Triple Kick (PPPKKK), Jumping again, and then another Triple Punch Triple Kick (PPPKKK). The attack combinations allow for the player to move across over the pond of water, and onto the distant platform to progress forward skipping the angel fight. This skip saves around 25~ Seconds.

Chapter 6 Cereza Skip

In the Gates of Paradise Chapter, it is possible to skip through the escort segment without guiding Little Cereza to safety.  After the fight when protecting Cereza in her force field, run and open the gate with the Camera Infront of you making sure that Little Cereza is kept on Camera. When the Beloved spawns in, Run in panther form and keep Cereza on the camera. With success, you should be able to by pass the walls that would prevent Bayonetta/Jeanne from moving forward through the tunnel and leave Cereza behind. 

For how it works, if you get too far ahead of her while she's off camera, she teleports over to you. However, if you keep her on camera, she cannot teleport, which means you can blow past the trigger for the Beloved if you are in panther form and go through that part without being constricted to her.

Necessity Guide (Items, Weapons, Techniques)

As a quick note, this guide is written based on my own run. You could always get more or less things if you do or don't need them, but this is what has worked for me.
As such, this might differ from the way others run this category

In this guide I'll go over the items, weapons and skills you need to get and where you use them in any% normal.

The weapons needed are:
Onyx Roses: Obtained by getting the LP in chapter 1 after beating verse 4.
Shuraba: Obtained by completing the verse 7 in chapter 2.
Durga: obtained in parts of chapter 5:
  1. After completing verse 2
  2. After completing verse 5
  3. In a chest in a fountain while going up the snake way
Lt. Col. Kilgore: obtained in parts of chapter 9:
  1. Before the 1st verse in a breakable wall on the right side after crossing the halo platforms.
  2. After completing verse 6.
  3. Cross the gap near the shop, follow it to the end, it's behind the breakable wall.

The halos needed are:
  1. At least 10000 halos at the first shop of the game.
  2. 50000 or 55000 by the end of chapter 2.
  3. 73000 by the end of chapter 5.
  4. 46000 or 76000 by the end of chapter 9.

The items used are:
4 or 5 magic flutes
~9 Yellow Pops
2 Big yellow pops
3 Red pops

The techniques used are:
Air Dodge
Stiletto
After Burner Kick
Panther Within (Aqcuired through Story)
Crow Within
Bat Within
Tetsuzanko (Optional)

The magic flutes are aqcuired during the first 2 angel attack sections.
(If you did not get enough Magic Flutes, you can choose to do additional angel attacks)

There are 5 shopping trips in the game during which you purchase the following:
1. Right after the cutscene where you first see the shop, you go in and purchase the air dodge.
2. Enter the shop before starting chapter 3, you will aqcuire the Onyx Roses and Shuraba.
    Also buy 3 Yellow Pops, the Stiletto and the After Burner Kick technique.
3. Enter the shop after the fight with the inspired, to get the Durgas.
4. Enter the shop before starting chapter 6, during this trip, you will purchase:
    Max yellow pops, buy 1 Big yellow pop, and aqcuire the Crow and Bat Within.
5. Enter the shop before starting chapter 10, you will get the Kilgore weapon, and you will purchase:
    Max yellow and red pops, and buy 1 Big yellow pop. (Optional: Buy the Tetsuzanko technique.)

Now, as for where to use the items:

Magic flutes:
Two are used during chapter 2:
  1. after the beloved spawns in verse 3.
  2. to kill the enchants in verse 7.
One is used in chapter 3:
  1. In the first verse, 12 angels will spawn in total, keep track of how many angels you have killed.
     Once you have killed at least 8 Angels, wait a sec and then activate a flute.
Two are used in chapter 8:
  1. Use the flute to kill the angels on the front wagons.
  2. Use a flute to perform the route 666 glitch.
NOTE: Do not use the magic flutes from the menu, while also having "it" and other items assorted to a slot. It will consume another item while keeping your flute count the same. This is the "Infinite Flute Glitch", and is not allowed in NG Any% Normal (No IFG). You can however, use the flute from the D-Pad, and it will be consumed regularly.

(Big) Yellow pops:
Two are used in chapter 3.
  1. To pass the lava spout that appears when progressing through the level after defeating fairness.
  2. To be able to pass the broken bridge while in the underground.
One is used in chapter 6.
  1. Pop one while chasing the joy, to not get hit by her lasers.
One is used in chapter 7.
  1. Pop one while fighting Temperantia's head.
One is used in chapter 8.
  1. Use a Big Yellow pop at the start of verse 2, it should last you through the rest of the stage.
Two are used in chapter 14.
  1. One is used during the Fortitude battle, and one during the Temperance Battle.
      Note: Should you forego using a yellow pop during the fortitudo battle a handy spot to use this one is during the justice battle in the next chapter.
One is used during chapter 15.
  1. During the fight with Temperance, after he destroys one of the turrets, pop a yellow, to avoid taking damage from the missiles he fires.
One is used during the Epilogue.
  1. Use a Big yellow pop when the harmony spawns, it should last you through most of the first 3 verses.

Red Pops:
Three are used during chapter 14.
  1. Use one during the Fortitude fight.
  2. Use one during the fight with the 3 inspired.
  3. Use one during the Temperance fight.
