Considering how much faster it is to end the game by abandoning the quest, would all bosses be a viable category?

The rules would be fairly simple. Beat the game after defeating: Elite Lab Assistant Alpha Mutant Hedgie Plyusch Belyash Natasha Dewdrop Left Right and Left

Timing ends when you enter the cutscene after the Right and Left fight.

So, with the Ninji's apparently ending after the twentieth one, coming soon, I wanted to gauge whether or not there would be interest in a category that is essentially run all twenty Ninji Speedrun Levels back to back. I'm not sure if this would be main category or category exentsion if this took off.

Basic rules: Time starts on hitting "Play" for the first Level. Time ends on the goal of twentieth level completed. Level order does not matter so long as all twenty levels are completed.

With the new Update changing the rules of the game as well as how long the VRAINS category is, I have an idea to reset the full game board without getting rid of the two runs that are on there: create a category called "Legacy Patch" or the like, and move them into that.

It seems like a good idea to me because as sparse as the board is, it could keep them around without having to erase the runs that have been done.

Hi, I'm thinking of taking on this game as a future speedrun. I've been watching a few runs, and I noticed that some levels are held back as safeties because cat suits get lost.

I just want to make sure I get a list of the back-up levels for something like 380 stars.

Here's the ones that I do know of from what I've seen: 2-3 3-2 Bowser-5 Bowser-Mystery

What other levels should be on the list?

I just watch pidgezero_one's 100% run on RPG Limit Break's YouTube. Is there a category for that somewhere on SRC or is tracked somewhere else independently?

I was on YouTube this morning and found that someone has discovered a new game breaking glitch that resets the map. Essentially if a player warps from inside the Master Trials to a Divine Beast then to the map, the map resets. Not a blood moon reset, a hard complete reset. The most immediate implication is that anyone attempting 100% can now get all 900 Korok seeds from one Korok. I'm not sure of other implications, but this seems like the place to bring up the Glitch to figure out how to refine and make the most out of it.

So I've started practicing speedrunning BotW on the Switch, and I noticed that the weapon throw cancel to stop from taking damage during long falls isn't working.

So first question, am I doing it right? Walk off ledge, ready to throw a weapon, quick change to unarmed, correct?

Second, even if that move is just me needing more practice, what other differences should I know about the Wii U and Switch versions of this game? I know that the loading screens take significantly longer to load, which is why I know the Wii U is universally the better console to speedrun this game at the moment... but since that's off the table at the moment, I'm going to have to work with what I have, which also means knowing what tricks will/won't work on the Switch that the Wii U players utilize.

So as I was playing BotW today, I had an idea I wanted to run by the speedrunning community. Could collecting all the in-game armor be a category worth adding? (amiibo's and Nintendo shirt excluded and likely excluding DLC armor depending on how that rolls out)

There's three ways I could see the rules working out:

All Armor RTA Just collect all armor, jewelry, and masks

All Armor RTA + Collect all armor, jewelry, and masks Level up armor with set bonuses to level 2 to activate said bonuses

All Armor RTA ++ Collect all armor, jewelry, and masks Level everything that can be leveled to level 4.

((For the record, I'm personally leaning toward the RTA+ option.))

Issues I'm aware of.

  1. Money - My initial estimate to complete this run needs 31,760 rupees and 5,593 Mon. The issue is that is if leveling armor gets involved, selling items for Rupees or Mon risks becoming conflicting. Even if leveling is left out, some of the items (the Jewelry and Radiant set) require gems to purchase in the first place. NOTE: the rupee estimate includes unlocking all four fairy fountains; if leveling armor is settled at less than max, rupee cost drop significantly.

  2. Time - I don't have an estimate yet on how long this would take because this is basically all Shrines + all dungeons + X number of Great Fairy Fountains + collecting a lot of junk¤¤ + tens of thousands rupees and mon + other costs I've not accounted for. The range on time is large, where the minimum is going to be... longer than nine hours.

¤¤at least it's less than 900 ;)

  1. Interest - I'll admit, I haven't committed to mapping out this run yet because I'm real new to the speedrunning community. If this really doesn't catch on or generate minimal interest, I'm not going to put effort into it.

Although one of my favorite Zelda Speedrunners is gymnast86, I am probably going not going to earn any good will from him by posting this thread where I argue that his skip of the Helmaroc King in his 5/31/17 Glitchless run should be a disqualifying factor in that run. This is the run:

First and foremost, let me say that this was not because as he said, the only thing he did was "bomb boost." I read the rules, listened to his commentary, and understand that bomb boosting is permitted. I'm creating this complaint because WHERE he bomb boosted to, which was onto spikes acting as a barrier (The moment can be found 2:18:00 into the run), which to me is along the same lines as using the cliffside bomb + the Korok Leaf to clip through the wall and, for example, skip the first floor of Ganon's Tower.

Second, the other argument gymnast86 gives of boosting over spikes in the video is that the spikes were lazy design on Nintendo's part instead of a glitch. That doesn't really hold water, at least in my view, because 1. Glitches can and have caused by lazy design decisions and 2. Spikes are a Nintendo staple of "Do Not Touch" across multiple franchises, crossing them without dying is not the same as bomb boosting onto an inbounds ledge. This wasn't exploiting a loophole. It was using a bomb boost to clip a spike barrier. It even looks like Link is glitching because the abnormal animation slide at 2:18:10 in the video.

I understand if I fall into the minority on this, but the justifications for gymnast86 skipping a boss fight being not a glitch is weak at best, and if the glitchless rules really do support his rationale, then I would hope that the glitchless rules are tightened to stop this because while the definition of a glitch can be argued, skipping a mandatory boss fight by clipping over spikes does not seem to fall in any gray area of being a glitch. It's a glitch.

PS. To Gymnast86, I do feel a little bad to be calling you on this because I am a fan and for what it's worth, you have a great voice... but your attempt to bend the rules of Glitchless Wind Waker did not in any way appear to be a bend when I saw what you did.
