There are clear cut rules for each category and the game in general set by the super moderator that each verifier must take into account when they deem whether a run is valid or not. For your convenience, I shall list them here.

  • All runs require video proof, with game audio
  • The main menu must be showed at some point in your video, this will allow us to see the version
  • Runs must be recorded from before the opening cutscene, preferably in the lobby or the main menu, till the player ends the timer.
  • For multiplayer runs all POV's must be linked in one submission within the description of the submission.
  • A timer on screen is recommended. However it is only required if your run is longer then 30 mins. We recommend LiveSplit.
  • No Glitches
  • No Clips

Notwithstanding the fact that I literally watched the run live, I do not see any of these rules being broken in the video that was submitted. All submission guidelines are adhered to adequately and as an experienced speedrunner of this game I can confirm that there were no glitches or clips used in the run. Taking this into consideration, I do not see why I would not be allowed to verify this run, if it does not break any of the rules.

In spite of the egregious ad hominem used in your comment, I will try to respectfully resolve this by addressing your point of view as well. I understand how the act of being a "human notepad" can take away from the fact that it is supposed to be a solo run, and I can also understand the possible reasons behind why it should not be allowed. I can concede that a "human notepad" saves a significant amount of time if one either does not have the means to do the blue door code fast or is not skilled enough to do so. However, this argument does not appear to stand due to numerous reasons which I shall elaborate on.

Firstly, there exists mods on OBS and other recording softwares to only record game audio while excluding discord and mic audio. This makes the "human notepads" virtually undetectable and the gameplay indistinguishable from a run without a "human notepad". There is a runner in the community named xiao_zhouc, who can do the blue door code simply by memorising the order of the letters and repeating it to themselves, decoding the code in real-time. How does this differ from what a "human notepad" can do? Due to this, such a rule, even if put into place, simply cannot be enforced.

Secondly, there is also a matter of at what point does the act of being a "human notepad" become too extreme to be considered illegal. For example, if I were to watch someone play the game and remind them to pick up an item they missed, would that not be allowed? Or rather, if I were to remind them that they had 0 timer on a smiler, would that not be allowed? The ambiguity of what a "human notepad" actually is means that such a rule cannot be fairly enforced.

Lastly, I will refer to a previous point I put forward about one "not having the means to do the blue door fast". I hope you and I can agree on the fact that a second monitor is quite a large advantage in a solo run as you do not need to alt+tab to access whatever notepad you are using to write the code down, and also because the in-game chat, which would normally be an option, is glitched and causes severe lag spikes and game freezes when opened, and is also not present in older versions of the game. Is having a second monitor not like having a "human notepad"? Would you rather say that this game should be pay-to-win, since only by having a second monitor you can get a better time?

I would also like to mention that you said in your comment "Maybe so, but that doesnt mean it should be.", and then proceeded to change the subject. Consider providing more elaboration and substantiating your argument in the future so we can better reach a mutual agreement and understanding. I hope you understand my point of view and we can come to a consensus on this issue. Thank you, and have a nice day.
