Thanks again for all your work on this. This game is actually really fun. Just finished a pretty clean run and really enjoyed it :)
So doing further investigating, this game was remade on the Playstation where you can actually play all 100 levels straight through. It even has an Extra Mode with an additional 100 levels. Not sure what Ellimist wants to do with this info. A separate game entirely seems silly. Perhaps 2 categories where 1 is Arcade version and the other is the Playstation version? And then within those: Arcade: 1-50, 51-100 subcategories Playstation: 1-100, 1-100 Extra Mode
Maybe this?
Thinking about giving this a run but upon looking at the rules, I'm a bit perplexed. For the other Arkanoid games, typically the final hit in the final level is when time is called unless there is an on screen pop-up (like in Arkanoid DS). This game doesn't seem to have that though, so shouldn't the final hit in Round 50 be the cut off for time?
Additionally, why are there categories for 10, 25, and 50? I thought perhaps there was a boss at 10 and 25, but they are just regular levels. Arkanoid Doh It Again for SNES has separate categories (1-33, 1-66, 1-99) b/c those rounds (33, 66, 99) are when you fight the "final" boss of those sections. None of the other games split like they do here for this game. I believe there should be a 1-50 category and a 51-100 category (since apparently those levels exist).
Thoughts?
Yes, it did have a 3 hour in game time, haha. That's because the time doesn't reset when you clear the game and play again. It just keeps tacking time on. Additionally, I believe the internal clock of the system you are using has an influence on the timer in the game. So while the real world passes by in 1 second, it may be 1.2 seconds in the game on Switch, but 1.05 seconds on XBox. All comes down to the hardware.
Unfortunately, that timer has been found to be extremely inaccurate. I've let Sivak know but it's not a priority for him. He himself doesn't even know when the timer cuts off, but there are issues with it, so I strongly do not recommend using it.
I think it would be fair to separate them due to the differences :) The cutting of the intro is a bit of a difference along with some other small changes throughout.
As it stands, only 1 Famicom run has been submitted I believe so not a huge change at least. It's Negative's run in the Any% Very Easy category.
But yeah, I feel it may be unfair to keep them together.
Thanks Spiriax! I see Switch is now an option. Should I edit each run 1 by 1 to switch it over to that? I am unsure how the verification process goes for that and don't want to add more work for you guys.
Hey there, where would one submit a run for the newly released Switch/XBox versions? Thanks.
Hello. Brand new to moderating a game. I recently got a game added to the site called Arkanoid Live. I'd like to have it join its brothers and sisters in the Arkanoid Series. How would one go about getting it placed there? Is this something I can do myself?

Thank you.
Note: The platform this game is on is not listed in the drop down for the series.
