Emulators are separated into a different category than console because they are faster. I used to run on emu and the best you can use is Snes9x 1.51 rr v7. You can learn and run the game on emulator and participate on that side of the boards for emulator. Coming from someone who has played on both, if you get really into the run and do well you may decide you want to make the switch to console. The biggest benefit to playing on console is the less input lag, and i was able to transition in a few days. If you dont switch then thats totally okay to. Just make sure that you dont use zsnes or anything. you can also use snes9x 1.53 but it has much more input lag.
