Sorry for the wait. There are no runs pending verification now. New mod(s) are being added so that runs can be reviewed sooner.
This thread has info about the moderator application. I have also made an announcement on the Discord server.
The pumpkin roll checkpoints in the Flashpoint AS2 Poptropica curation do not reset properly when restarting the island from the map screen. This means that the pumpkin roll can be mostly skipped after restarting. Runs of Great Pumpkin Island that are affected by this bug will be rejected.
One workaround is to create a new player before running the island.
Alternatively, follow these steps to fix the issue for Flashpoint 10.1 Infinity:
- Ensure Poptropica is downloaded in Flashpoint and make sure Flashpoint is closed.
- Download restartIsland.swf here.
- Go to the folder Flashpoint 10.1 Infinity\Data\Games and extract 83e1b5e7-4282-4bbd-868e-dcfa965e4abf-1616287425611.zip to a folder.
- Open the folder 83e1b5e7-4282-4bbd-868e-dcfa965e4abf-1616287425611\content\www.poptropica.com\flashpoint and replace restartIsland.swf with the downloaded file.
- Go back to the 83e1b5e7-4282-4bbd-868e-dcfa965e4abf-1616287425611 folder and create a zip file that contains the content folder and content.json.
- Open Flashpoint and select Poptropica. Click the pencil in the top right to edit the game, click the Open Game Data Browser button, and click the Import Data button. Select the zip file you created and click Open. A new active data pack should appear.
- Close the game data browser and click the check mark in the top right to save your changes.
I modified the restartIsland.swf file linked in this thread based on version 1.1 of the curation, which is the version currently downloaded by Flashpoint. It is possible that something else broke with my change, but that seems unlikely to me. Version 1.2 of the AS2 Poptropica curation is available here, but this bug is not fixed in that version.
I have been accepting runs that do not provide a video link and put some other text in the video field, so I removed the video requirement for now. We could require a video for WR attempts, but that is not currently required.
I agree that we need new mods so that runs are reviewed more quickly and decisions about rules are not made solely by me. I'm planning to create an application form that I will post here and on Discord in a few days. At this time, I will focus on reviewing runs currently in the queue.
Run submissions are not closed, but there are some submitted runs that have not been reviewed. Your categorizations are correct, and it is easy for me to change the category for a run if it is incorrect. I will add a comment to this thread when there are no runs pending verification, which should be soon.
I'm not sure exactly what is happening, but the individual level leaderboard on this page: https://www.speedrun.com/Poptropica/Early_Poptropica#Complete does not match the view of all levels from the main Poptropica page. Epic_Doughnut's run is first on the IL page, but Lieutenant_Boo's run is first on the main page that lists all levels. Keep in mind that run order was recently changed to be based on time without loads, and Boo's run does not have a time without loads listed. Epic's run is slower with loads, but that should not matter because the order is based on the without loads time.
I made a discord server, here is the invite link: https://discord.gg/REFzxe8
I used an item called the minimizer to become smaller so I could go under the club. It's not in the store anymore, and you'll have to use a program like iPop to get it if you haven't bought it before. This is the same situation that sword items are in, as they are not in the current store despite being used in runs. Also, right after I got the pig I clicked the browser's back button to get back onto the main street. Everything else in the run should be self-explanatory.
I think what happened is the recording software used was inconsistently changing speed in the footage, and the runner used his manual splits to try and adjust the video by slowing it down. He talks about this in the video description.
Yes you can submit single island runs that are part of page run attempts as well as the page runs those single island runs are part of.
I think it would be less confusing if we leave it as it is so that page runs don't include multiple pages. Monkey Wrench was likely an exception before so every island would be in a page run, but including islands from a page before technically doesn't make it a single page run. Making page runs a little shorter will also (hopefully) mean that more people submit runs for them.
Thank you for letting me know. Legendary Swords has been added again to the island list, and the page categories should now reflect what appears in Poptropica.
When I first saw this run, I thought that keyboard binds might be used for predictable mouse clicks, but the use of a touchscreen definitely makes sense. Assuming this run is cheated means that either it is automated or that the video is edited. Editing the video seems like too much effort for what ends up being a very small time saver, and it seems unlikely someone would go through the effort of automating a speedrun for Poptropica. However those clicks were performed, the reason the 1st place run is significantly faster is due to different skips being used, not because of seemingly impossible clicks. I wrote an AutoHotKey script to try and replicate the video, and I found that fully automating the temple password clicks could be much faster that what is seen in the run. Either there was a pause in the automation to make is seem more real (which, again, would be a lot of effort for very little time saved), or a touchscreen is being used. I believe the mouse moving so fast is just the result of touch screen taps, and not because of some form of cheating.
Early Poptropica should be in the top left corner of the 7th page on the map.
