Has anyone tested to see if Wii loads are faster than GCN loads?

Probably but if you do find out feel free to tell us.

I suppose I am curious myself, but loads really only affect real time and don't affect your in-game timer too much, so beyond just having the knowledge there isn't much of a reason to worry about it.

True as in game time takes priority in most categories.
