# Common Techniques: Tips and Tricks

This guide will cover a variety of different bits of tech used during the run to speed up the process of collecting and selling stuff. It's broken into two main categories: Tips and Tricks

## Basic Tech: Tips

These are different little tips that can help optimize the speed with which you load objects, reset the day, and navigate the world.

### *There's always money in the trailer*

All of the objects (aside from the bed, wardrobe, and mirror) found in the trailer are sell-able. Most of them are green, but some are blue and there's even a purple. The "Buy the Pawnshop" category tends to use only the blues, where as the "Buy the Pickup" category also identifies and sells the purple.

### *Blues on the bottom*

In the earliest part of any run, you're going to have Blue objects you can't identify. It helps to load small blue objects first so they aren't interfered with when selling other objects. The first things in tend to be the last things out. A good example of this would be clearing out the trailer at the start of the game. The blues and purple should be at the bottom so they don't get lost when selling larger items. If you put the portrait on the top of the final stack, when sold it will gain physics and possibly fall out of the truck when other stuff is sold.

### Wall-assisted Stacking

When you stack things in the bed of the truck, the game only seems to care about the fact that the objects are touching the bed of the truck transitively. As long as everything is touching it considers the object valid and in the truck. You can thusly use a wall for additional stability when loading things in. It helps with tall stacks of large items.

### Drop and drive

The last object you place before the car can be dropped on top and as long as it is touching the pile when you enter the truck it will stay in place, even if it is clearly not stable or is actively falling off. This is good for getting an object to a location. If you exit the car while stationary, it will fall.

### *Tablet Driving*

When in the truck you can interact with your tablet. If you reapply the gas after opening the tablet it will let you continue to drive and operate the tablet at the same time.

### *Park in the pawnshop*

The pawnshop doors are large enough to fit the Umeboshi truck through them. This is useful for when you have an unstable load and want the stuff to fall off to still be sell-able.

### *Unsticking*

The unstick option (Defaulted to the N key) is great if you drive into the pawnshop, it can also be beneficial to use when leaving certain locations to avoid additional driving.

### *Napping in the Pipe*

There is a corrugated pipe next to the diner that can be used as a bed. This lets you avoid having to drive back to the trailer to end days, and it spawns some small instant sale items in front of the pipe (in the form of trash bags, bottles, and wine jugs).

## Advanced Tech: Tricks

These are more complicated techniques which can be used to maximize truck capacity and renown generation

### *Bed Stuffing*

This tech allows you to place objects inside of other objects by creating a state in which the truck is moving but slowly enough that you can keep pace and drop objects on it.

1. Get in the truck
2. Start moving either forward or backward and immediately exit the truck. If done correctly, the truck will move very slowly in that direction for about 10-ish seconds
3. Take a large object and place it in the middle of the now incorporeal pile of goods in the bed of the truck.
4. Get in the truck and repeat steps 2 and 3 until your truck is fully loaded

**Warning**: If you leave the truck while stationary, the pile will all regain physics at once and the objects will explode off the back of the truck. This is both hilarious and another reason to drive into the pawnshop.

### *Katamari Object Creation*

This tech is still not fully understood but there are times in which several objects embedded into each other begin to act as a single object. This is often the case when placing open-able chests in the middle of a pile of objects via Bed Stuffing. This can be useful if you mistakenly let the truck stop, as these objects are easier to reload into the truck.

### *Magic Floating Objects*

Objects that have too many physical interactions imparted on them at once can break and leave the object simply floating in space. You will need to reload the game to get these objects to behave properly in the physics engine. This is a rare occurrence and is the byproduct of Bed Stuffing gone wrong.

### *Difficulty Swapping*

You can change difficulty mid run which allows you to capitalize on the bonus renown of hard mode without losing auctions or having someone drive up the price. The idea is that you sell on hard, but buy on easy. There is a specific category for this called "Any" which allows for you to change the difficulty at will. The other categories are Easy, Normal, and Hard, which do not allow the use of this tech.

Speedrun Branch Access Guide

# How to access the speedrun beta branch on steam

1. Acquire and install a copy of the game through [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1442430/Storage_Hunter_Simulator/)
2. Go to the properties menu for the game from the library menu

3. Select the "Betas" menu and enter the following code in the Private Betas text box: RPFVLCd4tr9T

4. Click "Check Code" and then you should have access to the speedrun beta branch

5. Select the speedrun branch, your game will automatically update and you should be good to go!

The speedrun branch itself is currently locked just before the Easter patch so that we can maintain the current run of the game. After we can confirm that the new patch won't invalidate all previous runs, we can ask to have it brought in line with the current release.

The community will decide if we should update the branch in the event that a patch will in fact invalidate old runs.
