Buckets: Optimizing Them to their Full Potential

For this guide, I'm going to assume that you have a general understanding of how to use a bucket and skip towards the cool bits.

**1. full bucket stasis**

a bucket, in general, can take up to 5 full mop hits. however, that's not entirely true. in fact, the true capacity of a bucket is actually 5 and close to half more mop hits.

to put it simply, lets say that a bucket has a 100% capacity and a mop fills up the bucket for about 21~24%. for this guide, i'll assume it to be 23%. so, 23 x 5 we get 115%, that means we cleaned at least 15% more with 5 mop hits from the bucket. this is assuming if every single mop hit is full to the entire 23%. however, if one of the 5 mop hits we don't use the full 23%, we can effectively save room for another full mop hit.

so for example lets say that you've done 4 full mop hits. that's 23 x 4 = 92%. so, for the next mop hit, we only cleaned 7%. that means there's at least 1% of capacity left inside the bucket, and since the bucket can clean your mop in full even if there's still only 1% left, we take up a total of 5 and a little bit more mop hits for one bucket. the amount cleaned isn't really that significant, but in a speedrun, any form of time save is going to be crucial, so implementing this strat in your runs will definitely improve your overall times.

currently no proper way to indicate the 7% for a mop is confirmed, mostly it's just a guessing game. however, if further experimentation is conducted, perhaps a proper indication of how dirty the mop needs to be for a bucket stasis can be obtained.

**2. Bucket Dumping Method**

everyone knows that tripping over your buckets can lead to a mess, but there is a way to dump all the dirty water while not making a mess.

to do this, hold the dirty bucket over your head, jump, and dump the water when you're still mid air.

*note: when dumping the water, make sure you find a high enough ceiling to dump the water, otherwise it would still spill.*

there's another way of dumping the water without spilling, and that's by dumping the water while being in zero gravity conditions, which is only practical in maps such as zero-G therapy and gravity drive.

to my understanding, the way that the water spilling mechanic works is whenever a bucket is tripped, it detects for nearby floors or walls and spawns the blood all over the area. if so, that would mean that as long as the bucket is dumped in an area which has no nearby walls or floors, the water would go nowhere, hence not leaving a spill. as for the low ceiling problem, my guess is that it detects the ceiling as a floor or wall, but can't exactly dump water on the ceiling, so the water gets dumped on the ground instead.

this saves the time taken to bring buckets directly to the incinerator, especially when the incinerator is further away from your current location. with this method, you can just yeet the empty buckets one by one towards the incinerator like you would with a meatball. it also reduces the possibility for accidental bucket trips and taking time to clean up the mess made.

Core Sample: a Better Utilization of the Teleporters

The teleporters in Core Sample are very useful, but here are some tips to make the most out of them in your runs.

**1. Setting up One Way Teleporters**

so as we all know, teleporters go 2 ways, as in as long as one side has an item, the item would get teleported to the other side. However, there is a way to make it so that a teleporter can only go one way, and to do that, set up your teleporter like the image [here](https://imgur.com/y2q9VAG).

Since the teleporter's slanted, the item will shoot away from the teleporter's top, making it so that when u activate the teleporter again, it won't teleport the item back to you again. the thing about a teleporter is that there is actually an upward force exerted on the object being teleported, so as the teleporter's slanted, the force launches it towards the direction it's facing for a short distance.

for some items such as large human bodies might be too big to launch further away from the teleporting radius, and sometimes when teleporting large items it may also cause the teleporters to fall upside down, so just be wary of it when that happens. you can also set up slanted teleporters for both sides, so both teleporters can become one way teleporters as well.

One way to implement this strat in a run is to place the slanted teleporter in front of the incinerator, and bring the other teleporter along with you to wherever you may be. if an item is too large to fit in a regular bin, i.e. a large body or in Core Sample's case, a large crystalized body, use your teleporter to teleport it directly into the incinerator.

note: the item does not necessarily enter the incinerator all the time, multiple factors such as item placement, teleporter placement, and item type can affect the trajectory when spitting the item into the incinerator. even so, this is a neat trick to use when playing this large map.

**2. Bucket Relocating**

you can stack your buckets on top of the teleporter like this image [here](https://imgur.com/HMbII0i). as long as both stacks of buckets are not glitchy, you should be able to teleport the buckets to you as long as you bring the second teleporter with you.

if you pair this with the bucket dumping method where you dump water without spilling and the one way teleporter method above where you teleport the buckets directly to the incinerator, dealing with the buckets becomes much more easier. in order to not carry so many teleporters with you, I would advise to split between 2 rounds, one mopping round where you carry the bucket teleporter, and one rubbish round(where you clean all the physical trash) where you carry the incinerator teleporter.

Flares: Small Item, Large Timesaver

this guide will touch on some of the functionalities of a flare that can help save some time on your runs.

\

**1. Burn Paper Trash Without Leaving Ash**

a flare can burn paper trash such as crumpled paper, paper cups, water bottles and notes. however, if the flare burns the paper trash on top of a physical item, it won't leave ash on the ground. so basically, if you burn a paper trash on top of a crate, it won't leave ash, and that also includes bins and empty buckets.

basically, place flares in a bin, place paper trash inside the bin, and let the magic happen.

this tactic saves bin space, which saves the amount of times you need to go back and forth from the incinerator to the area you're cleaning, which leads to a huge time save.

**2. Using Flares as a Temporary Light Source**

Flares placed in a bin can still emit light without interference. this is particularly useful in penumbra where you can potentially save time placing lanterns everywhere. bear in mind that a flare can only last for 3 minutes, so take that into consideration when routing your runs. so just place a lit flare inside a bin, and go collect your rubbish. of course, you might still need a light source when you're mopping and many more reasons why this strat might not be practical, but just know that this is a potential strat and implement it when necessary.

Turn Bobbing Off.

go to options, go to systems, and untick "view bob". just do it.

Welder Gun Tips and Tricks that would save your time extensively

below is a summary of the video in case you'd prefer to read. i will be referring to the video above for a couple of times.

**1. welding bullet holes in rapid succession**

the welder can fix up to 4 average sized bullet holes in one sitting without overheating. it also fixes at least 3 large bullet holes in evil science. for the extra large welding holes in revolutionary robotics, if timed correctly, an entire hole can be done without overheating.

the overheating mechanic also reduces the time taken to weld one bullet hole, as the timing to fix a bullet hole gradually gets lesser as you start to use the gun more. for example, in a single weld attempt, which is to continuously weld bullet holes without stopping at all, the first bullet hole takes about 2 seconds, while the 4th bullet hole takes about 0.5 seconds in one weld attempt(calculations unguaranteed, just an example).

also, you might notice sometimes whenever you interact with the welder, your frames would gradually be lesser. you can fix that problem by going into the pause screen 2 times, and your frames will be fixed.

**2. welder throw trick**

welder guns have an overheat cooldown, but you can skip the cooldown by throwing the gun away and picking it back up again. to instantly throw the welder, press g. however, pressing g only switches you to the mop, but there is a way to switch to other tools as well, which is to press the num keys first before pressing g.

so for example, i want to switch to hands after i throw the gun, and to switch to hands im going to press the '2' key on my keyboard. so first press '2', then press 'g' quickly. works for sniffer by pressing 3. if you have a broom or shovel in hand, pressing 4 would do.

*remember to enter the pause screen twice to return your frames when experiencing frame drops.*

**3. keep welder in inventory**

pick up the welder by clicking the left mouse button on it, but hold the LMB and don't release it just yet. instead, start pressing the num keys on your keyboard to switch to other tools. the welder will be stored in your num key 4 slot. if you already have a shovel or a broom in hand, scroll the mouse wheel button downwards and the gun will pop out.

*note: make sure not to start pressing the num keys immediately, wait until either the gun or your hands are missing from the screen.*
