In general, the attitude here and in most speedrunning communities is that if you want a category to be created, you should start by actually running it yourself. Otherwise there's no proof that anyone is actually going to run it, and if a category doesn't have runs, is it really a category?

We literally know nothing about BoTW2.

The whole point of this is to clear up the Minecraft leaderboard I'm assuming, but none of the runs there have been posted here? That seems like it completely defeats the purpose of making this.

I noticed the part about subtracting time for the DLC cutscenes is in the All Dungeons leaderboard rules and not in All Main Quests where it belongs.

Splits are meant to be a convenience for runners. It's entirely up to you whether or not you want to use them

That's a shame. Oh, well.

Shenmue is a game that really resists being speedrun, isn't it?

There really aren't many good categories for Shenmue 1 because of the nature of the game - the lack of cutscene skips plus the forklift stuff at the end means a lot of "auto-scrollers". I've been thinking about new categories that might be worthwhile and one that does come to mind is collecting all the cassette tapes.

There is some lottery RNG but it's pretty minimal compared to the prospect of say, collecting all the figures, and although not all the tapes are available from the beginning (it's date-dependent) all of them are available before December ends and the intervening days could be passed by failing the stealth section over and over. Plus, you don't have to play through the whole game, so the forklift would be kept to a minimum.

This may be an interesting run, but I haven't played the game myself so I'm commenting from an outsider's perspective. Thoughts?

I mean, if you take away the faster load times what's even the point of running the games on PC besides that it's easier to get?

sporkaganza6 years ago

Huh. That's really weird.

The re-release allows you to skip cutscenes, which is the only difference between new game plus and new game in previous releases. I've already noticed some re-release runs get posted in multiple categories, giving a false impression of some kind of difference where none exists. Shouldn't there be a standard?

Unless there is some difference I should be aware of.

Every multi-game run I've ever seen lets you move on to the next game the second you've beaten the first one. You don't have to sit through the credits.

Oh never mind it's April Fools Day and I'm really stupid. (I even submitted a fake Witness run to try and contact the moderators.)
