Hah, well it definitely fits the rules description currently on the category. I just wanted to submit the run to make sure the rules reflected that you had to push start to watch the cartoon in full. If milliseconds aren't part of the time (i'm not sure why they aren't) then it doesn't really matter
In one of my first runs, I spawned a warp point to planet 7 directly by the ship. I don't know how it happened. My theory is that I carried something through the warp point. See this VOD for how it happened.
(new warp point) (from before the run started)
Could add both. It's not necessarily the difficulty, it's the length. There's a lot of appeal in having short categories to whet the appetite for the longer ones.
Kosmic: thanks for taking the time and sharing your thoughts. I have one that I believe can satisfy both sides.
Add a "Legacy" variable to this category. Runs with this variable meet darbian's original requirements of the Marihour Challenge: Original consoles, swap times included, all NA releases.
If the variable is set to "Modern", then it can be any set of updated rules that the community deems necessary for accessibility, etc.
The variable can be a switcher at the top of the leaderboard. Preserve the past, look to the future.
Update to this: If you are running on emulator, you must display the frame counter. The frame counter is more accurate than the video FPS. Emulator runs will be calculated using the frame counter. If your run does not have it displayed, the submission will be rejected.
The time displayed on the 2 frames shown above will be the start and end times for your run.
Watching this run never gets old. You are a legend my friend.
I've played it and it seems to be very different. If you do a run, you can submit it as any% and we can take a look at a new arcade category.
Hello, I am bad at this game and would like to propose a Lose a Game category. This category exists in several other NES baseball games, and I personally find it to be more interesting. Thoughts?
My opinion:
Money manipulation is not a glitch, because you can get the same result by playing normally. The old route was just to keep saving and resetting until you got +50, then save and try again. That would fall under "regular gameplay".
Any route that gets both the white sword and the magical sword will be too slow. The white sword is not worth getting since there isn't that much combat in level 3, 4 and 5 that bombs don't already handle. Level 3 is manipulated already as well. Feel free to try this route, but I don't see this supplanting the current route.
You're most likely on the wrong pixel. Use this diagram to help align Link in the right spot.
Oh man, I should really look into this. Thanks for bringing it to our attention
Japanese saves around 9 minutes with text speed. There are no gameplay differences between the 2 versions.
There is not a specific leaderboard for that. You can still submit the run to the 100% (or no up+a) leaderboard.
