"There really shouldn't be a reason to absolutely require one aside from odd circumstances. " - Pretty accurate
The only particularly compelling reason I can think of is for autosplitters.
Multiple "full game" and "IL" boards with arbitrary names is how we probably want to handle this eventually. It requires a lot of restructuring.
There are 123 game requests in the queue, which at about 30 an hour would take about 4 hours. Most of the time is spent on confusing requests and sorting through flash games, seeing if games are identical, seeing if games need to go in series, etc. Yours is not at the front of the queue and I didn't spend 4 hours clearing it last night. Also for reference I think the number is more like 80 submitted per week. I've been really busy with work and I haven't written guidelines for others to take over the job and still be able to handle things in a somewhat consistent manner. I do want to turn this over, but doing so without guidelines would result in substantial inconsistencies on processing.
Content mods aren't fully coded yet. The position exists but the privileges for the position don't.
DG84: Ok NotBaDocha: It looks like you were added. LozBlind: Made the change. Assuming it's relative consensus. namesnipes: This game was just added recently. It has data now. Drakodan: The board may have been automatically deleted due to not being set up for two weeks. Feel free to request it in the game request form. Neutrino: Added Racingmonster: No thanks. And3rson: Added to all except one worms game with an active moderator. Patrick: Added GhostScit: It looks like the run was approved. I bumped one of the mods up to super. It looks like there are enough people to either opt to add another moderator or verify runs in reasonable time. PlasticRainbow: I'm fine with it in this case. More often I'd require a run to be pending. SilverDile: I think this might've been deleted due to not being set up. If that is the case, you could request it from the game request form. SlammerJam: It looks like you were added. Tctn: Added. susslord: It looks like you were added. MaggiGorengAyam: There are 4 mods. If the forum post sits for another week or so, I'll look at making a change. Blackpod: Added. Ichimarnold: I think this might've been deleted due to not being set up. If that is the case, you could request it from the game request form. kobepilgrim: Added.
I've been really busy with work. I'll try to get through game requests this weekend, they're getting rather behind.
SilverGU001: You're one of the unlucky users with the ""Failed to rename theme folder" bug stopping me from changing your name. Pac is probably the one to fix this.
battleonfan1: Just for certainty, can you send me a Twitch PM confirming this is what you want. (The dude who wanted his name changed to cock at least switched over his youtube.)
smartalec0624: Added GrandestDad: I made it a Rom Hack. Attaching to parent games has been broken for a while. frathebest: Game requests are getting behind, I'll try to catch up this weekend as I have time. Usually we say 1-2 weeks.
IL pages need some level of revamp eventually. Improvements to address the items you've pointed out would be good, but it's likely quite complex to implement.
Tctn: Mod was online 10 days ago, which isn't the 3 weeks sufficient for this thread. I'd recommend posting on the game's forums or trying to contact the user.
DG84: Added.
eddiecatgaming: Those games probably have more than enough moderators. It is largely left to moderator discretion who they want to add.
Portal: Added
Short week.
Lightnat0r has been working on changes to the timer code if I recall. I don't know if this specific thought is addressed, but it might at least make something like this easier after the code is refactored.
Pac-Man stuff: A fair portion of this discussion seems aimed at Pac-Man World 2, which has substantially more runners than anything else in the series. I'm extremely unclear what the "before" and "after" for this board looked like. The Japanese version is currently a subcategory. "Since some people in the community are split on this, it makes more sense to have the boards support both sides, rather than just one." - This statement is not understandable without better context. "To go along with what NachoBrado was saying, we have tried discussing this issue, and why the rule change isn’t needed with the current mods." - The rule change context was not given, everything else was suggesting category restructuring. All the people involved here seem to run similar games, so it would be beneficial if some sort of understanding could be reached through whatever conclusion we end up with. The lack of any forum discussion makes this difficult to observe or perceive consensus. A fair start might be a rules/category discussion thread. (The clip is a bit sour, but it really just looks like generic meme trash talk. It's not even specifically directed towards one person.) My wording might be a bit hasty here; I'm mostly trying to understand the situation.
DCR: Someone seemingly dealt with that before I saw the post.
Crockey: I'll make the change. I'm not sure if I'm seeing everything that happened accurately or not. Can't exactly conclude that he intentionally stickied it, he seems a bit young, which may in itself be a good reason to make the change. You can delete the banned user forum posts if you want.
And3rson: Added.
XanderWebb479: Pending run, added.
RantronBomb: Added.
dylaneka: I added you to Sonny. The other game's mod is relatively active, so I'd recommend discussing it with them.
IschmarVI: I added dylaneka since he asked first.
LozBlind: This change would leave only 1 super mod, which probably isn't ideal most of the time.
kylew0607: I'll add you since this is corroborated by another user with runs.
StarEevee: There's a bug on some users preventing me from changing names due to something with themes. You're one of the lucky users. :( I poked the coders again.
Mossy: Login is case-senstive as far as I know. (Though I'd like the names and links to not be case-sensitive one of these days, it's not ideal in my opinion.)
Added Galaxian
I have mixed opinions about a "Mario Bros" series, as it sounds like it would include these two games, but nothing called "Super Mario Bros", which I feel is what a user would be expecting if they clicked on the series. http://www.speedrun.com/series#Name=mario
It might make more sense to just have a generic "Mario" series, which would also include stuff like this: http://www.speedrun.com/Marios_Time_Machine
Do people have any thoughts on that?
Message kirkq over Twitch to change your email. Name changes should go through that thread linked.
TaiyoGamer: Added
Racingmonster: We're working towards this.
Ewil: I removed him from the games he doesn't run by discretion.
TheStrahl: Looks like you were added.
Cyberdemon531: Ok
Ozotuh: Site staff can see pending actions. Neither solution is necessarily more correct than the other.
Zecora_MLP_1: Found the twitter discussion and the other guy is way inactive, ok.
097Aceofspades: You should be able to see board age in statistics, also the game just came out. :P
ArcadiaLegend: Normally I'd say discuss it with the moderator, but it's a small board so I don't see issue here.
Death_Devil: I super modded everyone so it doesn't become an issue again later.
CriscoWild: Looks like you were added.
Ms_Haunter: Added.
lecorbak: A series doesn't inherently need moderators. You can turn over the games to the runners in most cases. If a board ends up without a mod site staff can fill it in later.
Yngwe82: Since it's a small board and the user is inactive, I added you. I'd recommend being patient in the future.
Hu3y524: I'd recommend doing a run, or one of the other runners can ask. I highly doubt the guy stopped logging in just to keep a record.
NeverSeenIt: In the interest of having multiple moderators, I'll add you by discretion.
LivinLikeLoca: Pretty sure he had a run when he requested, I guess you get it now.
Cappan1: Added as super mod.
WhiteHat94: Looks like you were added.
And3rson: Moved some stuff around.
NehkRohw: Added.
Genesecting: Please try contacting the moderator first.
Big List.
ROMaster2: Editing base/parent games is broken at the moment. I put it as a "mod" as requested.
CipherCraft618: Thanks
We had actually conceptualized something like this a long time ago, with non-prioritized variables and purely optional variables (such as what type of controller you played on for example). At this point, restructuring the site to handle these types of things appropriately may or may not be difficult. The others would have to comment. Getting the implementation generic enough is the difficult part.
The platforms variable is certainly ambiguous. I'd prefer if we had one thing indicating release console and another with method of play, but it's not trivial to restructure the site to support this.
If the community and moderators are in agreement, then there's not really issue here other than someone being disgruntled with the majority opinion.
