The only difference between any% and insane would be how you finish the first chapter, so I don't see the point to add it.
There's two new skips in the vocational block chapter, both are done the same way.
The first one is done as the Groom is chasing you, so it's risky and there's basically no room for error. It saves about 30 seconds. If you manage to do it, you need to save and quit after you get down so you can do the next skip, since otherwise the elevator will block you from dropping another floor.
Here's the next skip
As you see it's pretty much the same, except now you can do it without someone trying to kill you OpieOP .
Here's a setup I found that works well to get the drop
That is for the second skip. You need to hug the edge and inch yourself right until the camera moves forward. Then just turn and look a little right from the corner and walk backwards. If you did it right you land on the floor below.
The setup works similarly for the first skip, except you look left of the corner.
Why not use discord? DansGame You don't even have to install it, just use the browser one like I do
c0ffee you should join the discord channel, that's where all the action is
It's same as the sewer pipe skip, as long as your hitbox doesn't go through objects, it's all good.
Here's one with nightvision on, and no hitboxes on.
The trick is to use the chairs near the table to jump up to the table, while having your hitbox shrunk. I personally did this by angling myself like in the video, then holding the aimstick towards the table corner and spamming jump. I'm sure we can find good setups for both controller and keyboard.
After that you can use crouch to get past the window, I think it's faster to go to the other side of the window and use crouch then, you can then go around the other side to the skip. Once you get to the between the shelves, there's a small spot where you can expand your hitbox by accident, so be careful. When you get to the last wall you can just run hugging it and the skip is done.
I'm sure you already know how to get on the door. The jump after that is just a matter of timing the jump almost perfectly at the edge. Also you have to do a couple of back and forward steps before to have running speed to do a long jump.
There really is no easy way to do it, just practise it and learn the jump timing. Angle doesn't matter too much, as long as you don't jump past the pillar, or hit the other pillar that is on the right side.
Even at best I get it maybe every other time, since it's pretty much frame perfect jump.
Yes, this happens if you die at the same time as the cutscene starts. It's pretty rare though, has happened to me only couple of times.
Normally consoles should be less variable, but on PS4 for some reason the loadscreens have gotten faster over time with new ps4 firmware updates, making times easy to beat with worse runs thanks to faster loading. For example the any% loadscreen has gradually gotten faster from 22 seconds to 15 seconds, and that's just one loadscreen. But I guess that might not happen on Outlast 2.
Has a load remover been made for outlast? Not to my knowledge. Anyway I think it should be implemented for Outlast 2 if possible. Even better if you could remove loads on consoles, but that has to be done manually. If that would be required, everyone would have to do it themselves, I think it's too much/time consuming to ask mods to do it.
No it hasn't been patched, you must have not jumped at the right time or angle.
I think we have already stretched the definition of glitchless to maximum, disallowing a lot of tricks that other, less strict communities would allow. No need to disallow that because Chris might not say something.
I'm guessing you are not hugging the wall all the way through.
OK I managed to optimize the PC route enough so you can to get to the loadscreen in 0:58, which is 4s faster than on my current record.
The route is more difficult on PC, but it's definitely faster than old route.
Also with these strats you save about 7 seconds on all chapters and insane getting to the computer room.
Nice challenge run, but I don't think it needs a category. BTW the video doesn't work.
It seems this would save about 4-5s on all chapters and insane as well on both pc and ps4. Obviously instead of dropping down you just get to the computer room and continue the old route from there.
Today Mattmatt10111 found a way to get to the high walls at the scaffolding from the window at the beginning. I realized from there you could do the old any% skips. It turned out to be faster than the current route, especially on PS4, thanks to the level loading slowly. Time save on PS4 seems to be 4-6 seconds. On PC the difference is much smaller, I managed to get to the basement area only 1s faster than my record run. There could be some minor optimizations though that'd make the route even faster. Here are the videos:
PS4
PC
PC video is spliced from couple of attempts, because it's pretty difficult to get solid run not being used to the route yet.
Explanation - you need to get the slow climb animation on the window and hold backwards the get on the window sill. From there you crouch and move to the left side of the window, then move left. You should be boosted up to the invisible ledge. You need to wiggle your way slowly out of the window until you can stand up. Then just jump left and backwards to get to another invisible platform. From there follow the outer edge of the scaffolding until you reach the other side.
On PS4 you then just run forward, you should land on a lamp while falling down to not die from fall damage, then head to the unloaded room.
On PC it's a bit trickier. You have to get to the corner and run off. If you do it right you'll land on the wall. You then need to take some steps back and crouch at the corner of two walls. Edge your way right from there while looking along the outer wall until you clip to the outside wall of the asylum. Then go little backwards and turn your camera around to make the level unload. You need to make the level unload at least once before dropping to survive the fall damage. As soon as you fall uncrouch and turn left again to head towards where the skip is.
I couldn't test xbox version, but xbox used to load too fast to do that PS4 strat, so I assume you would have to use the PC route.
This could be faster for insane and all chapters as well, still need to time it.
No, you can get to the exact place with a door hop, there's no way to get on the walls, they are just a little bit too high, not to mention the lobby walls, which are even higher.
