I like the idea of a separate emu category with a standard emuluator.Maybe keep the main leaderboard the 1st one, and the emu the second one so that people can compete.

Having a emulator standard seems the way to go, but I'm a little bit worried about how we enforce that. I'm not a mod, so you guys will have to figure that out. I'm willing to test if needed!

I see a lot of runs with the disc versions, I have it on PSTV (VitaTV) off of PSN, and it likely runs faster because of the flash memory. Is the disc version required to run?

hmm I don't know anything about it (although I don't know the translations of the menus very well)

could you post a video of a run? from the menu if you could, please.

I enjoy new categories, but they need to be well understood by the community to add it so a vid would help us

This is a mini-guide for NG+. Treat this like a work in progress and feel free to add input!

The route is almost exactly the same except you should not pick up anything besides essential items (keys, fuses, etc)

You want to take as few items from fights as possible in order to avoid item dumps. Train yourself to not take any items – the button pattern is different for level ups so I will be noting all level ups in the run that are standard. Before day 3, all level ups in the run are predictable. Day 3 starts the potential re-fights, so you need to watch your own EXP to make sure you are dumping items predictably when you level up.

Day1

As soon as you have control of Aya, equip the Gun and Vest from your EX save file. Put all the bonus points into BP and Inventory space.

(this can be done without putting BP into inventory, but it will be more difficult.)

The fights you have to do in Day1 typically are only ammo, but rarely other items appear. I recommend just spamming X and taking everything from fights in day 1 except for the vest from gator.

LevelUP! - first sewer fight

LevelUP! - gator fight

Day 2

NYPD→Museum hit RIGHT ONCE Museum → NYPD hit LEFT ONCE

Central Park (CP)

LevelUP! - 1st CP fight w/snakes

LevelUP! - 3rd CP fight with birds and monkey thing

LevelUP! - 4th CP fight before gate

LevelUP! - 6th CP fight with bear

LevelUP! - 8th CP fight right before worms

LevelUP! - worms. The best way to do the worms fight is to start firing the SECOND the third worm pops. once they are dead, immediately kill the 4th worm.

Day 3

SOHO → Museum hit LEFT TWICE Museum → NYPD hit LEFT TWICE

Day 4

NYPD → Hospital hit LEFT TWICE

Day 5

NYPD → Chinatown hit LEFT THREE TIMES

Something to note here, if you haven't filled inventory from this point, the best strat is to just take all items, and discard just one after the centipede fight. The gate key is the last required item that will not let you take it unless you have a spot free.

Subway → Museum hit LEFT OR RIGHT FIVE TIMES

Once you get the Klamp Key you can smash X through all fights, as you no longer need any essential items. If your items are full coming into the lab, the game will force you to take the gun and the key. This is faster than doing an inventory dump beforehand.

Will likely keep the starting and ending rules the same as the SNES version for some consistency there.

The arcade game has no different difficulty levels, so I think Any%, Any% Co-Op, and One Credit Clear% would make good sub-categories for this run. Let me know what you guys think, I can't figure out how to change it right now for the life of me anyways lol

The game should run on any arcade emulator that supports Capcom CPS-1. The differences of the emulators have not been tested, so if people find out any major differences we should probably discuss it here. happy shmuping!

I agree, if we had 300 runners it would make more sense to split it up, but at the moment and the forseeable future it doesn't make much sense - and I don't see a flood of new runners magically appearing on the horizon. (although we can hope :-p)

hi! I have opinions 1.I HAAAAATE waiting for the credits to finish. take that as you will 2. I think we should only make different categories for different consoles once we have 30+ runners or more

it depends a lot on what controller/keyboard you use and what monitor/TV you have.

certain controllers/keyboards will either eat controls or have input lag. typical LCD monitors that aren't gaming have about 5ms of lag (which isn't really noticeable) but HDTV's can have up to 100ms+ lag if they do not have an optimized game mode setting.

so, what's all the hardware/monitor info, and we can work from there to reduce input lag as much as possible :)

it's offset because of the delay. you'll notice that the timer starts before the run does. It's most definitely a legit run

I think it's a pretty good rule change, but I also think charmander's run should be "grandfathered in" since it was before the rule change. He followed the rules that stood during his submission and it should stand because it was accepted before the new rules.

I think a timestamp on the new rules will clarify that if anyone gets in a hissy about that one run.
