People have interest on Crash 1 with slides tho. It actually has a Lot of potencial to become a misc category. Some of the top players were running this actually
You are also going with assumptions that it was patched. If it was patched, then yes, should be removed, but we don't know. Can't ban a run based on assumptions.
For Hot Coco, as an example, we had clear proof that one method that was previously possible is no longer possible, so it was disallowed. The same doesn't apply here.
I personally haven't looked into the subject to know if that glitch is a real thing or not, but if it stood for this long and the community accepted it, it's probably a real thing and not simply a cheat.
That being said, people did look into it before and nothing was found. It's not because an update was rolled out that anything about it changed. If it was fine to accept that time as record before the update, it's still fine to accept it as a record now as we can't say "oh look, we did the setup for the glitch and it no longer works".
Also, being a mod submission doesn't take anything away from the run. The mods scouted for youtube videos to submit when the leaderboards were made.
You also can't claim that it's not in the game just because no one did it since the update. You can't prove that it doesn't work if you never knew how it worked to begin with
It's really about interest. Many games that have uncapped vs capped fps runs are runs where uncapped fps completely breaks the game (usually physics based boosts and stuff like that). For Crash, the difference would be really subtle (at least at the moment), so there's nothing too special about an uncapped fps speedrun. Maybe if something major is found then we could discuss this again.
You can add the Discord invite to speedrun.com itself if you want. This is how it would look like: http://prntscr.com/k1190g It's right at the top of the game's settings (The "Edit game" for the mods)
I was gonna say "specially when its a Lot harder not to do something for emulator only", but i realized that there is an emulator category and it's quite popular
Which reminds me that i was doing some 100 points attempts a couple weeks ago but never submitted the run i got. I guess i wanted to Get a better one, but still
You need to keep in mind that you cant go by the timer onscreen to find the precise run time. The timer could have been started early or late, so you cant use the number on the video.
Also, How many mutations are there. Kinda unreasonable to add a mutations section considering interest and How many mutations are there
Solution 1 btw: https://github.com/iVerb1/SourceLiveTimer/issues/1
i've had that problem before. there are 2 solutions to it: 1- you gotta delete some file somewhere that saves where you last left the window on your screen (i don't remember where said file is, which leads us to solution 2); 2- rename the folder in which the livetimer is/move the timer to another folder
there are a lot of specific skips that where patched in some way. the only mechanic patched was infinite stumbling, but everything else works. it's more on maps specifically being patched. Examples are: Passing 2, skipping the underground event, Passing 3, skipping the elevator, No Mercy 3, breaking the door with melee weapons and GL shots, Death Toll 3, for co-op, triggering the end saferoom from the front of the saferoom door, Dead Air 3, common jumping at the beggining of the level.
There are many other patches that happened, but these are just so you can have an idea that many skips in particular were patched.
i mean, if you want to run a 30s category where it's not even clear when the timing ends, go ahead. but i don't think that many people would be interested
well, all of us that ran the game recently knew each other from other communities, so we had our private hiding places
you can easily record on the first tick if you try to open the console when the loading for the map is about to end. like 2-3 dots away from finishing
There was a No Major Glitches category in the making, but the general interest on that category is kinda low (at least for now)
People usually use OBS (Open Broadcast Software) to record. Shouldn't give you FPS drops.
well, not that you need to mess with framerate, but having a very high framerate helps, according to Master
