I bought this game years ago and haven't played it in a long time, i couldn't get anywhere in Colditz and so never finished - maybe one day I'll pick it up again but there are a few other games on my radar first, best of luck with running this one!

I am a fan of 'glitchless' categories and the likes, for entertainment and to see the optimal routings for the game "as it's meant to be played". At the end of the day it's about completing games as quick as possible too. It's a big wide world so there's room for both :-)

Hello and welcome to Xargon!

This game was developed by Epic MegaGames and released in 1993 for PC. The game as three epsidoes: Beyond Reality, Secret Chamber and Xargon’s Fury. Episode 1 was released as shareware with the others available for purchase at the time. Now they are all available as shareware and playable on DOS.

The game focuses on Malvineous Havershim, an Archaeologist who is exploring some ruins in Madagascar when a gas is released rendering him unconscious. He awakes in a strange world with monsters, treasure and gems. (The ruins are supposedly built by the “Blue Builders”, sometimes the titled is referred to as “Xargon and the Mystery of the Blue Builders; however, there is no reference to ‘Blue Builders’ in the actual game.)

M.H. was brought to this world by an eagle called Silvertongue (although he appears occasionally, he does nothing to help you). He explains that the evil Xargon is attempting to take over his world and may attempt to take over the world M.H. came from.

Playing as M.H. you must battle monsters (using your handy crotch laser), collect power items, destroy Xargon’s reactors and ultimately face Xargon himself.

As more of a watcher I find this is where the beauty of different categories comes into it - members have already mentioned some pokemon and GTA runs, "How quickly can I finish the game?" is answered using all kinds of glitches/warps etc., but "How quickly can I finish the game without glitching/crashing/resetting" is more entertaining to me. It's a big wide world with room for both I reckon :-)

EDIT: Civ3 run rings a bell when looking at these games http://www.speedrun.com/Sid_Meiers_Civilization_III/full_game

I'm relatively new to speedrunning and trying a couple of games out - it's so easy to make mistakes, particularly if RNG is involved!

I'm at a stage where the hard bits I've practiced many many times I'm getting a lot better at, but the easy bits I make stupid mistakes :-)
