Not sure if this is faster than just running past the shadows, but is 100% safer than risking getting shot by Shotguns.

on alone there is a glitch where your interact key stops working , cant pick stuff up, cant open doors ect... fixes with load checkpoint but can sometimes take a couple to fix.

not sure what causes it , probably just a roll of the dice when you get to that mission.
