In general, I understand and support the desire to keep runs independent of external tools, such as warp accounts.
When job warping was patched, allowing warp accounts specifically for job warps in order to avoid the death of many leaderboards made sense. However, it could be argued that by doing so, you have already opened Pandora's box and that restricting their use doesn't make much sense. Personally, I don't have a strong opinion on this, but I do believe that there should always be a category that doesn't rely on external tools (e.g. 'Warps: false' should ban all uses of warp accounts, not just job warping).
That being said, I think this raises some other points that need to be discussed:
1. RTA as the primary timing method:
The issue of using warp accounts to skip cutscenes and loading screens could be avoided by simply discarding those sections of a run. This would allow runs that used warp accounts in this manner to remain on the leaderboards while also not requiring new runners to use these strats. It would also put more emphasis on the actual gameplay and reduce discrepancies caused by hardware differences. On the other hand, verifying runs would require more work.
2. Leaderboards becoming obsolete after game updates:
The reason for allowing warp accounts in the first place was to keep the leaderboards alive after job warps were patched, but the same issue often arises with other glitches. Therefore, I would like to suggest purging the leaderboards of runs that are no longer possible, or at least filtering them out by default.
Feel free to start a new thread if these topics are beyond the scope of this one, but I'm interested to hear other people's opinions.
