I was thinking a good misc category to add would be "1 Promotion" (lighting up an additional yellow light at the center of the table), and maybe that could even replace the 1000000 points category.

Tbh, I think score thresholds like that are maybe too arbitrary of categories, as they don't necessarily indicate any degree of progression made in the game. A similarly arbitrary category would be something like "Activate Gravity Well".

That's really all I have, let me know what you all think!

Hey, I noticed that under 2-player submission, there is not a box to add in an actual second player, which would certainly be a good idea to have :D

Also, the WR 2-player run on SDA supposedly gets a whopping 6:39 by Mike Uyama and Joe Stanski: http://speeddemosarchive.com/AlteredBeast.html

The reason I say "supposedly" is because I'm not exactly sure when time starts and ends, as it is not stated in the rules. Any clarification on this would be great :)

Thanks for verifying Star Wars: Empire at War & Forces of Corruption. I have just one question, how do I add this game as part of the Star Wars series? I found where it should be listed, but am unable to add it. If it's because I don't have the privilege to do so, would someone that does have the privileges be so kind as to make this simple change?

Thanks :)

So I'm interested in running this game, but I only own the version that was released on the PC Sega Smash Pack in 1999. Now, this version is actually believed to be an unfinished prototype of the game at some point late in development, which was erroneously added to the PC compilation instead of the final product. It has a large number of differences from the Genesis version, some of them quite major. A comprehensive list of differences can be found here: http://rq87.flyingomelette.com/RQ/SS/S1/proto.html

Some of these differences, such as the 3rd, 7th, and 8th bosses automatically ending in seconds, and no enemies present in 8-2, would probably warrant a new category in my opinion. In addition, the prototype also has an option for invulnerability, and a level select readily available in the option menus.

Once again, really interested in running this, so it'd be cool if we could discuss adding a new category for this version, and how the rules should be set for it. Let me know what you guys think! :P

So as a kid, I discovered that very rarely, this strange glitch used to occur where B-Doings would launch Pac-Man insanely higher than normal. I had no idea what caused it until earlier this week, where I discovered that bouncing on the very edge of the B-Doing and slightly lowering the game's framerate produce this result quite consistently, as shown in the video.

Since I have no means of attempting it myself, I hope some people who have consoles can try it out to see if this glitch works on any other platforms. Unfortunately, I don't think it will, because console frame rates can't be reduced nearly as easily as on a PC.

The question that arises is: is this glitch even allowable? I know of many games where the moderators have put framerate restrictions on speedruns because wacky random crap like this can happen. I say it should be allowed because the PC platform already has many speedrunning disadvantages (horrible load times), and this glitch isn't even game-breaking at all. But, I also want to get everyone else's opinion on this, so what do you guys think about the allowance of this new glitch?

Hey everyone, I want to start running this game this week, doing a preliminary run in each of the categories. I just have one question about the "Maximum Levels" category. Because the current TAS does not visit dead-end Elsewhere levels, that has been the rule that stands on the category for the moment. I just know that the definition of this category is not fully agreed upon, so I wanted to take a poll of who thinks what levels should be included.

State whether you think dead-end Elsewhere levels should be included or not and state your reasons.
