@NixIssues in the Scriptable Autosplitter, did you set the Chris Any % file as the one for it to read? I remember having a hell of a time setting it up myself.
It could be something to just get used to, but in most cases runners will switch between the d-pad and the analog stick depending on the situation and what's needed. You'll wind up getting a feel for when the analog stick is necessary and when it isn't, like quick dodges or turns that'll save a few frames.
Man, that's good to know! Thank you for all the work you're doing, dude. It's awesome!
So far, my time with this patch has been pretty awesome. Especially the controller support.
A few things I've come across, and I'm not sure how much of it is related to it running in Software mode (I know you've said you're looking into it) or just the game being weird.
It crashes instantly when you exit the elevator that leads to the room where you pick up the battery. - This one I know isn't due to the patch. It always crashes here (Edit: in Software mode) regardless of what I'm running. It has something to do with triggering the hallway outside the elevator because I can load saves from later in the game without issue.
It skips the FMVs automatically, as well. I'm not sure if this is attributed to Software mode or if it's something with the fix.
Configuring the controller with the new support is the best, it just took a minute to figure out what I was changing but I didn't encounter any issues with it. I can't quick shot with a keyboard, because I'm bad, so this is awesome.
So, again, I'm not sure how much of this is actually useful to you, but hopefully it is. I'm still not sure if the FMV problem is due to Software mode or not, but I figured it was worth reporting anyway. I can't wait to see what other magic you work with this!
Edit: For clarity. My game does not actually crash 100% of the time like it seemed to sound like.
Have you tried cropping the desktop window to just the game? Mine is set to Window Capture, but I don't know if that helps your situation any.
This could be amazing for the JPN version if you did manage to add support! It sounds awesome!
Kind of a dumb question, but are you using the BIO 1.8 patch already?
If there's any option to configure the controller's Dead Zone for the stick, that sounds like what you'd be looking for.
Hopefully that helps somewhat.
I'll check them out and see!
I remember learning to pause cancel dodge from you and it blew my mind.
Sounds like them lol
I'm guessing the best strat at this point is just spin as fast as possible with it? I've been messing with a combo of knifing the webbing, pause cancel, dodge the acid spit, repeat. Seems safe and consistent, but hey, I could be wrong!
Damn, I didn't think so. Well, guess that throws the Black Tiger skip into a weird place for PC.
Thanks Steve!!
Maybe I've totally missed something, but I just stumbled across one of Clix's videos where he mentions cancelling the aim assist on console by holding L1.
Is this possible at all for PC?
Yea, OBS is super weird with Classic for...whatever reason.
I'm in the same boat as Symm. PSXjin has never worked for me and still doesn't, so I just used ePSXe for practice.
@BashyCake That's a pretty good place to start. I hear you on the Lines, though. I'm a world class chef of spaghetti with lines. lol
@DougRedfield87 Nice work!
Did you try both Biohard and Biosoft? If they're both crashing, I'm at a loss. For me Biosoft has crashed once or twice, but Biohard never has.
