Streaming from the PS4 is prone to network issues especially if you’re doing it off of WiFi, and it’s not the best for recording either. Direct streaming is good for the short term though.

If you’re just planing on doing a few runs to see if you like it, I wouldn’t waste the money on a capture card. But if you plan on running a lot of games and want to customize your stream more then a capture card is a good investment.

Lol, at the risk of getting a bit off topic, yes it’s fine to call me that, everyone does :p

And I bought ET recently, it’s part of an inside joke between myself and some friends and it’s just kinda become my online picture everywhere heh.

No problem.

If you don’t have a discord invite handy, you can find one here (along with every other Zelda discord server):

If you look at the Zelda 1 boards, you’ll see that the GBA is listed as a console, so yes, you can do runs on it. People will deter you from it and will suggest running NES on emulator if you don’t have a console, but you’re free to run on whatever version you choose.

up+a is banned in the more popular categories so that won’t really matter if you’re running those categories. The GBA versions is also slower overall compared to NES so keep that in mind as well when deciding if you want to use that version.

If you have more questions, I’d suggest joining the Zelda 1 discord server as well as asking questions on the game’s forums instead of the Zelda series forums (nobody really checks these). You’ll get much faster responses in those places as opposed to here.

Game requests normally take around 2 weeks to get processed, it can take longer depending on how many requests the admins have to go through.

Regardless, this is a thread for moderation requests when the existing mods are inactive which is completely unrelated to game requests.

EDIT: user I responded to deleted their post lol

In KH1, the Journal tracks 6 things:

  • Trinities
  • Puppies
  • Minigames (attempting, a certain score not needed)
  • Ansem Reports
  • Story
  • Characters including heartless and bosses

So, things like Chests and Keyblades aren’t needed to complete the Journal because they aren’t tracked - you just need to complete what is tracked. This basically boils down to needing to complete every world while getting all of the little side quest collectibles and beating every boss/at least one of each heartless.

In the Final Mix versions of the game, the game provides a little Mickey head next to the Journal in the menu if you check it after completing it. This allows you to know and verify you got JJ 100%.

In the original KH1 English and Japanese, there is no Mickey symbol so you have to manually check each page to make sure nothing is missing. The reason the category is empty on KH1 English is because nobody has done a run of JJ 100% on that version yet. (In general the PS2 versions aren’t run very often because of the inability to skip cutscenes making the run much longer).

Hope that answers your questions!

Yeah Switch doesn’t have the ability to direct steam to Twitch. If it did, people would go nuts because it would allow them to stream it in handheld mode instead of needing to be docked.

AntarcticaTimmiluvs7 years ago

That’s a topic for the game’s forums, but there is no such thing as a “perfect time” for any game. There are always new strats, skips, etc waiting to be found.

Thanks for necroing an almost 2 month old discussion that already reached its conclusion.

Why did you create a second thread for this when you already asked this question in another thread...

Either way, yes, this is a question for the game’s forums, not the main one. Although like KomradeKontroll said - if the game doesn’t have a segmented category, you can’t submit segmented runs.

Also, you seem to be twisting the rules of FF9. They don’t specify RTA because it’s an implied rule for almost every LB. FF9 has a single category for segmented runs. All FF9 runs are RTA unless they are the 2 runs in that category. But they are not saying segmented runs are fine across the board, they are saying they are fine for that one category.

No, you can’t get rid of background noise without maybe running your audio through some software to get more granular control over the audio channels. But that might be impossible or very difficult - laptop mics always pick up everything it seems lol. If your laptop mic is picking up a lot of background noise, I’d recommend muting the mic or investing in a headset mic so that you’ll have less background noise.

No, you can’t submit segmented runs to the LBs since the runs on the FF boards are RTAs. You can do segmented runs to practice, but in order to submit you’ll have to keep the timer running for the whole run.

To prepare for long runs, make sure you have some food and water nearby. Avoid caffeine and heavy foods as those will make you more tired. Make sure you find time to stand up and stretch a bit so that you don’t get uncomfortable or stiff or anything (plus sitting for too long is not healthy for you). Try to find points in the run where you can take bathroom breaks, or just eat the tiny bit of timeloss to do it. Finally, practice gaming for long periods of time, it’ll help you learn to focus and be able to maintain that focus for the whole run. Other than that it’s just getting used to long runs.

As for RPGs that are 3-4 hours long - a lot of SNES era RPGs are around that length so those might be good for you.

For a Switch you’ll need an HD capture card. If you can, I would aim to get an internal one because those will have less latency and delay than an external one.

Both Avermedia and Elgato are good brands, people often recommend/like one or the other for various reasons. I’m hardly an expert on HD capture cards so I don’t have a personal preference.

If you’re trying to capture footage from a console you’ll need a capture card as well.

Let us know more about the games you want to run and we’ll be glad to give you more specific help.

I doubt it’s a mistake, although idk what constitutes a view - like actually visiting the thread or just the forum the thread is in. Granted, 5k in a half hour is a lot lol.

A large amount of visitors to the site (I think Pac at one point said 70%) aren’t logged in. I’m sure they count towards the thread “views” so you might get a large number that way as it’s not just us regulars.

Talk to the mod. They were online just a day ago, so create a forum post, reach out to them on their social media links, etc.

Well no video service has flags for those so it would have to be manually entered by the runner on submission and I fail to see the use for it (most submitted runs will have no commentary or live commentary).

If your issue is that you can’t use live runs to learn the route, then don’t use runs to learn the detail of the route. Use tutorials or ask questions to other runners and reference runs when you need to actually see something.

You can often find tutorials under the “Guides” section on games.

Elgato has Mac drivers for OSX 10.6.8 and higher (10.10 is recommended). I’m not sure if any other cap cards that support OSX, most are designed with Windows in mind.

Some streamers have chat rules (usually in a panel on their twitch channel), so just follow those and you’ll be fine. Otherwise, a little common sense goes a long way in not annoying someone in chat.

Just follow the big, basic rules: don’t insult people, don’t advertise yourself or anyone else, don’t backseat game, and don’t be rude.

Just be friendly and respectful and you’ll be fine :3

Well considering you’re entering the game title on Twitch it’s on their end that they don’t have the game in their database.

This site and Twitch are not affiliated or connected in any way.
