Virtual console for NSMBW is inaccurate due to loading times being faster. therefore it's NOT allowed. For NSMB1 virtual console is allowed. Emulator is allowed for NSMB1, but banned for every other game (Loading times being inaccurate etc.) Using homebrew software methods for NSMB2 is banned. Times under 2:10:00 require video. Times under 2:05:00 are treated with suspicion. So a picture of the console and copy for NSMBW, NSMB2 and NSMBU is recommended. Splits are also recommended if you have the ability to. You must include the time to switch games as well. Any personal best when running this category is allowed to be submitted on the certain game's leaderboard. Before running the category it is recommended that you should watch through the opening cutscene for NSMBW because timer for that game starts first input.
Coming from a person that speedruns a couple of the games (Which is me) i would love running this. Might need to get the NSMBU + NSLU bundle so i can switch faster though. My weakness out of those i would say is NSMB2 but i could easily learn that game alot more. And would turning the wii u off and back on be allowed? Because that would be a even better reason for me to get the NSMBU bundle (If it saves time)
All medals has no runs. Why is this the case? Is it the fact that it's too similar to 100%?
Hey island tour runners. I'm planning to run the "Level Leaderboard" for this game. Any tips on dealing with rng because when i was playing through this game recently i got very bad rng. Also is using homebrew hacks for capturing gameplay allowed?
If it doesn't work i will try to find a more consistent setup for it.
My tip on SBLJ is line up with the stairs and the pillar. It works for me 60% of the time. And i try to pause buffer to get DDD skip.

Thanks for reminding me of this topic. TTC upwarp is very... well i would say unknown. I guess most upwarps happen on N64 because of cartridge tilting or something like that.
How much time do you save and how much time do you lose? If you save more time than you time you lose it's faster. If you lose more time than you save it's slower.
Mario Kart Wii had the same issues with hacked times as well. But leaderboards exist on mariokart64.com so it doesn't make sense for individual time trials to exist here right now.
Good luck on the TAS. My recommendations are to do a fast 8-C and good rng on world 5 mostly. I know basically nothing about any% except the route so that's all i got.
Mirror mode is the same but it's opposite directions you go. Human theory is basically the same probably but i don't think they should be allowed because it's not how the tracks where originally made. Like what goomba said you could submit them to cyberscore if you want.
First of all. Crt probably somewhere in your house so you've saved some money already. NES you might need to get but maybe someone you know has one and they don't use it anymore so you could borrow one. And a powerpak you might have to spend on. So overall you could save some money from the console method but you might need to spend some money on a crt and a powerpak. But you could still run on emulator or VC i you wanted to. And if you have the game on VC all you need to do is get a capture card unless if you already have one. Also webcams exist so if you have one you don't need to buy a capture card so that's also a money save. Conclusion is NES is only 1 of many ways to speedrun smb1.

Might try doing it in a run tonight. We could do some made-up route testing for any% and 100% in the future. I am not good at coming up with routes so i'll test them instead.
Funny thing is that i checked the entire leaderboard and i see no emulator runs. So a sub category would convince people to run on emulator or maybe even both.
