@AlbertoD9 there are around 10,000 runs that need verifying, it's gonna take a while before yours gets seen. be patient
while there have been talks about doing a run like that, it probably won't be its own category as it's far too long and is different for each platform (the number of mobile achievements for example, hoo boy...)
if it were to be a category, it'll likely go in to the category extension leaderboards.
Bumping this because I'm also facing this issue, stuck with the new way runs are displayed on the user page and I severely dislike it. Is there not any way to change this?
Yep, game was solved a couple of years ago so there's no real reason to keep running it. There's so much RNG involved with the optimal routes that it's not really worth going for it IMO. The R&D Lab WR is definitely beatable but not by much. The misc categories are probably the least-optimized ones out of all categories.
Livesplit is a valid timer for The Beginner's Guide, however you need to have an addon for it to remove load times in order for the run to be valid. the one that we use is SourceSplit which you can download from here: https://github.com/fatalis/sourcesplit/releases
after downloading and installing it, you will need to enable it within Livesplit itself so that it works with The Beginner's Guide. In your livesplit you need to go Edit Layout > + > Control > SourceSplit. Within SourceSplit itself you will need to go into the Game Process List and add in 'beginnersguide.exe' and select it.
if you're not sure what i mean, refer to my video guide from about a year ago on how to set it up: https://www.speedrun.com/tbg/guide/wp9hl
slight date correction: run was performed on the 18th, not 22nd.
Well I used to moderate a Monopoly game and someone sent a rickroll submission in, but the most unique case I think is that time when one runner submitted very obviously tool-assisted runs to the Plants vs. Zombies Mobile board, for example they used a mod that gave them infinite sun so they could beat certain ILs in less than 20 seconds. For their Any% run however despite having infinite resources they played extremely poorly and didn't even submit the correct time. What was weird to me was the runner had posted a couple of legitimate runs in the past and at one point held the WR for the Mobile Any% category for a short time.
That runner eventually got banned from the site and we removed all their runs. However they proceeded to curse out me and a couple of other runners in the comment sections of our videos. About a week (I think) later though a new runner came in and submitted a couple of ILs, we could very easily tell that it was the same person from the way they typed but their run looked legitimate so we verified it. We haven't heard from them since however and that was about a year ago.
While I don't run this game anymore, I do believe the use of Turbo should be banned personally.
Anyway the main reason I'm replying to this thread is just to remind @Wipeoutjack7 to implement these changes to the other AA games in the series.
Not sure if this has ever been discovered before but I just played through the Standard Edition of the game completely today in order to route it and when I created a new account to start a run I discovered that I was playing against 8 players in Amarillo, it turns out I had kept the Yellow Star from the previous playthrough even though I was on a new account. I'm not sure if this applies to the other stars though I imagine it does. The only "fix" I could find is closing down the game entirely and relaunching it.
I've not seen this on Premium Edition, I imagine a bug like this should not be allowed in the speedrun as it's almost like a form of NG+ rather than Any%.
Here's a video of me showing the bug:
Hey all, I apologize for also being inactive - I've been taking some time off of Speedrunning to focus on other things going on in my life, but that was mostly related to me doing attempts for runs so I really have no excuse for not verifying runs. I'll make sure to check the verification tab daily.
As for requesting moderation, as stated in this forum if we were to accept any new mods we'd want runners with vast knowledge of the game and categories.
Apologies again, happy new year everyone!
