sup guys so i have a question.

i don't have a capture card but would like to speed run this game on xbox one. i can stream my gameplay to twitch but i can't show splits. Can i either record my splits separate or add them into my submission as text?

bootloader should be allowed IMO, the GC Emu category for re3 only has runs done on dios mios when the option for dolphin is available.

if i was ever going to run this version i would go for bootloader, less pissing about and it's a nice alternative for people with low end computers.

i was thinking have 4 people set to do re2 for that particular event 1 scenario each and maybe have a bonus game that people could vote for in the chat. So if re2 was to win a vote we would have a different runner on standby for that and it wouldn't be someone from the first 4, same goes for re3. if this is a 2 weekly thing or a monthly thing throwing races in is a great idea. The event could last days with enough people

A vote could be made for any game really that has other runners willing to run their game instead of waiting for the next event

the leader board was added when the vote ended, not long after that it was taken down by request of people that were going to run it. Until further testing has been done.

Me and Trance were glitch hunting yesterday and we looked back at an old video from x_streamer_fever_X where he got hit by a door in the promenade deck got hit into the floor and down to the level below, everyone always thought this wouldn't lead to anything. So we played around for a while and i got this Oob in episode 6. Time save depends on difficulty but each difficulty saves 1 minute or more. 2 Ooze and a sploder are also missing from the air vent you use the ladder to get into on infernal which is just Kreygasm. Also the skipped key is only used to open 1 door and that door has been skipped :D

We also managed to get Oob in the promenade deck on episode 3 but this Oob is currently useless

I totally agree with this point but back on the wiki things were different because categories/runs could be added by anyone. If it was a well and truly dead category that someone added that only themselves were running then it probably wouldn't have stayed. We had more space to work with too, on here we have very few mods being active as furry said but that may or may not be there fault. (i honestly preferred the wiki because you didn't really have to wait for someone to add/verify something)

I think when categories are asked to be added people take one look at the state of the leader boards and just want to say no, run something else. That was my mind set for a long time too i don't deny it. But i changed the Revelations leader board recently taking advantage of Misc categories and variables and it looks much cleaner and easier to follow. Full game boards would work for Re1, 2, 3 too if enough time was put into making the switch. it would mean though that by default your desired category "WR" may not be 1st place until you set the variable to filter the runs you want to see. More categories could be added to the variable without clutter. Less hassle and drama for everyone!

@AltriaAvalon i respect the time and effort you are putting into researching this, i for one would like to see your findings. i wasn't meaning in any way that what you are doing is pointless. I'm also about to try out your emulator settings as they are slightly different to mine. i'll post back if they work.

IGT is tied to frame therefore it doesn't matter if someones emulator is more "stable" than another runners if FPS drops so does the IGT. Console will be slower compared to Emu for obvious reasons

We had a gamecube emulator category back on the wiki, Leon A had some competition for a while between pessimism and trance and it was somewhat active across the board.

it was good enough for a category then, so it shouldn't be a problem just adding it now.

IMO the longer its left not added, the less interest there will be when it finally does get added.

Then all the hours put into finding load times and whatever else will be a complete waste of life.

I won't provide a link to the game here, only a much better way to get the game working.

BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL THE GAME FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

Create a folder called "CAPCOM" in Program Files (x86) or (x64) which ever you have.

Inside "CAPCOM" create another folder called "BIOHAZARD 2 PC"

Open up your Biohazard 2 ISO/RAR file and open the "data" folder DELETE Bio2.exe and replace it with "bio2 direct x fix" from Resident Evil 2 Resources on Speedrun.com.

Copy EVERYTHING in the data folder and paste into the "BIOHAZARD 2 PC" folder you made earlier. ( if you don't do this you can run the game but you are unable to save or run B scenarios)

now run the game.

This should stop any sound issues and game crashes people are having.

another thing i should mention is that using Vsync fixed the games stability for Darazanjoll but for myself it caused sound delay. So it may be worth testing different settings with Vsync on and off

We have matched settings other than Vsync and both of our games run the same

forcing a dolphin version and settings will be pointless and kill the category before it's even made. whether people like to admit it or not dolphin is a stable emulator, at least it is for Resi2. This does however depend on the users computer.

I managed to get dolphin at a stable 30FPS on my Brothers dual core computer on version 3.5 with ALOT of tweaks to settings.

Feel free to match my settings but there is a chance they will not work so try and find what works best.

i personally don't agree with dolphin emu but buying a wii for £20 and bootloading the game so no imports i do agree with. If i didn't play the PC version or a PC version didn't exist i would want to do the same, but only because PAL sucks else i would be on the disc copy.

A wii is £20 & an SD capture card is £5. YEP £5 on amazon. i bought one and it works fine.

So spending £25 is nothing as i'm sure most people have a donation button on their stream and get money that way, and if people are dedicated enough to speedrunning this game it's really not a lot of money.

RE3 has a GC emu category but the boards for each category has a maximum on 3 people and all runs are done on a wii via bootloader as its more reliable, stable ect. But that leaderboard is dead. If the re2 category ended up like that then there's really no point. I've seen one person running GC Emu and that's jaybone. may be more but that's all I've seen. (i don't mean any disrespect to be clear.)

if an re2 gc emu category was added how active would it be? and how long for? i think that's one of the biggest reasons why the idea of the category being added is being shot down so quickly. that and dolphin really hasn't been tested. If anything i would say get rid of Dreamcast and N64 categories they aren't active and probably never will be, a gc emu(bootload) category could be added in their place. solves the problem of clutter since they are dead categories anyway. i highly disagree with removing hunk, however. trance alone spent 6 months going for that time it may not be highly active but its hell of an achievement for someone up to the challenge. as many have done already.

Also don't take any offence to anything i've said, please. no disrespect or anything to anyone. Just my opinions.
