For some reason, when lined up correctly, it's possible to enter a sideways pipe from above, skipping the pipe entrance animation. By corner clipping against the ceiling, the cat is pushed into the exact correct position, where he can fall down into the pipe. This likely won't be done in RTA as it seems to only save around a quarter of a second and it's very easy to fail, but it still brings us closer to a potential sub-3 warpless.
@Chimpaneez That one is inaccurate because it doesn't take the framerate into consideration. Also, using Vegas requires having the video downloaded, which takes longer than using this program.
Yes, that's the rough gist of how it works. I'll upload it to github at some point to make downloading safer and easier.
The problem with those methods you mentioned is that they require downloading the video (which takes longer and requires storage), hence why boards tend to avoid milliseconds in the way you stated. This program will give an accurate result without the need for that. I don't see how any compression on YouTube could seriously affect the timing any more than a recording.
@theripper999 I'm guessing you didn't read the whole post, or even the title. This is not a timer, it's for people (especially moderators) to retime runs.
I've noticed that it's very time consuming to perfectly retime a speedrun: you have to download the video, open it in a video editing software, then manually calculate the difference between the first and last frame.
That's why I decided to make a program that does the hard work for you, so all you need to do is paste in information from the right click menu of YouTube's video player.
Here it is: https://github.com/Slush0Puppy/retime All of the instructions are included in the readme file.
Please leave any feedback so I can continue to improve this project.
@f1 Yes, that is obvious, and for most people common sense would say that too. But the rules don't clarify this in level 3 (while they do in level 1).
@Jumpyluff Cool contribution to the discussion, you're a very helpful member of the community <3
In theory, someone could submit a run like this: According to the rules, this would be a 23.767 as the player touches the flagpole at 23.767 seconds, but since the player dies, the level isn't really complete at all.
you've literally said multiple times that warpless with oob doesn't make sense geiten
@Jumpyluff Oh sub-1:30 is possible, it just requires barely-human levels of skill.
Toko's runs don't start on level 1. They shouldn't be allowed. Check the discord, everyone's agreeing
People are going to have score categories regardless of whether this is added, so I think adding high scores would be much more convenient for everyone. It doesn't even need to be called a high score. Just add support for submitting something not in the format of hh:mm:ss, and it can work for scores, in-game timers where the timer is displayed as an integer (e.g. in smb1), amounts (e.g. amount of captures in sm odyssey min captures), etc.
The next update that comes out will likely be version 2.0. This will add one or two new courses as well as fixing many bugs and moving the game to another version of unity so that it runs faster. This is a lot for the developers to add, so there's no promise that the next version will be released soon.
This one works for v1.4 https://mega.nz/#!vI1yhCoA!VPfUTQaR_lOod_FQlXD21nNPp5txbzVtIMfn-VfQ898
Oh hey bluekirby, it's a pleasant surprise to see you here. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? Some of the files might have messed up. Or maybe try another graphics setting, maybe the game isn't running at the right framerate and that's messing something up.
At around 00:30 of the no spacebar WR, the screen fades to blue and then back. What's happening here?
@ILOVESMB Could I use this glitch for the Red Coin Individual Level? The fade into darkness starts before I collect the star so would I stop the timer before I even collect the star?
In this video I show that you can collect both the red coins star and blue coins star in one go. This frame-perfect trick saves just under 40 seconds, bringing the best possible time down to just over 7:30. EDIT: I just found a new timesave that saves about 12 seconds. You do 100+Koopa+King as normal, but you don't manipulate King Bob-Omb's position, instead you go straight for Koopa the Quick. The moment King Bob-Omb explodes, you click to start the race. The stars will be separated, but you can use a glitch similar to this in order to get both stars anyway. Sub-7:20 hype???
