If that's what the majority of the runners want, then I don't see the problem.
Removed the redundant viper post as it had no votes and they were all going to the 4th post anyway.
Those who do not like any of the options above, like this post and post in this thread why: https://www.speedrun.com/gtav/thread/fdoqt
Well alright.
Edit: I should have kept the first post separate but you CAN vote on more than one post. Example: If you're just interested in having darkviper88 back as moderator like all but the first post.
That would be redundant since Super Mods can make new Super Mods.
I should have kept the first post separate but you CAN vote on more than one post.
Those in favor of maintaining the current moderator list, like this post. • ryedawg as Super Mod • ToriksLV as Super Mod
I think this is ALL for the runners to decide. Why has the decision been taken out of our hands?
That's the main reason why I promoted Toriks to super, so he can add more moderators, including the old ones as necessary.
I did want to make some kind of poll, but it's difficult to make one that isn't public. I guess it'll work anyway. Use the like system on this thread to vote for the outcome:
https://www.speedrun.com/gtav/thread/jdclr
The voting is public but at least we'll know who is and isn't a runner. You CAN vote on more than one option. The post with the most votes within a least 12 hours will decide the outcome. The votes can't be manipulated and if something happens to the posts I'll know.
If I understanding this correctly, this controversy stems from miscommunication. Perhaps Ryedawg didn't make his concerns clear enough to the moderators. Maybe Gyoo changing the moderators without first contacting the mods was a bad idea. Who is right? That's for the runners to decide, but we need to clear up the reasoning for this in the first place.
Ryedawg's biggest concern was the accuracy of the times on the leaderboard. Timing methodology is certainly something that should be discussed in another thread. However, if there's people willing and able to moderate more effectively, especially if the current moderators are apathetic to doing so, then they should help moderate.
If you want time accuracy, and really care, you always have the video. You can check yourself
I literally just got done dealing with this exact problem in the Dead Space leaderboards. If the times are inaccurate, you KNOW they're inaccurate, and people have issues with that, the times need to be corrected. And don't tell me it's too much work, I've submitted over 2000 runs for other runners and use a custom calculator to ensure accuracy down to the frame that accounts for drift. If you would like to know my method, I'm happy to help.
What is grinding at me is how many people are accusing Ryedawg of trying to "usurp" the game from everyone, pointing how he hasn't ran in a while and is a "troll". The former doesn't disqualify someone from being an effective moderator and the latter can't be used without at least some evidence. And those trying to accuse Gyoo of having any bias in this is groundless accusations that's grasping for straws that don't exist. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Honestly, I probably would have mostly agreed with darkviper88 about not being too concerned about ~2 seconds of inaccuracy for low ranking runs over 6 hours long. Still, if someone had actual concern I probably would have fixed him.
I must make this clear: I would have tried to contact the established moderators before changing them, but that wasn't my decision, nor was I aware of this issue until now. I'm inclined to give Ryedawg a chance: he's already done the work he wanted done and hasn't made any changes the runners are against besides simply being the moderator. If problems arise, bring them to staff's attention and he can be removed, but that's to be seen. For now, ToriksLV will be promoted to Super Mod. He may or may not have the most interest in moderating, but both parties seem to be favoring him and can arbitrate this if all else fails.
So rather than try to handle this like an adult, you came here trying to accuse me of abuse? Get your popcorn boys, you're in for a dozy.
This all started when houseparty420 had his run on the leaderboards use a different timing method than the rest of the runs, making it literally impossible to beat his time with the current route. He changed his time in response to the now removed record by another runner who used that timing method. I wasn't really aware of this until SliceableEagle pointed it out on stream, so I went in to check and found out his run was nearly 5 minutes under the timing method posted on the rules: Timing starts on difficulty selection and ending on losing control of the main character at the end of the final chapter. This was pointed out several times by me and SliceableEagle. Eagle was a little hotheaded about it but I commented:

Must start from a new game. Timer starts when you confirm your difficulty Timer ends when you lose control at the end of chapter 12.
You can't use your own timing method. Either change yours to fit the rules or change everyone else's to fit the new ones you want.
...but he shrugged it off and deleted our posts.
That's when I contacted kirkq on the leaderboard moderation request thread as he could see deleted posts; he agreed with the runners and I that his run should not be timed differently than the rest when the other runners were complaining and not deleting comments as the solution, removing him as moderator and promoting me and Mattmatt10111, who of which I felt was the most levelheaded of the active runners. I changed his run accordingly and everything was fine; he even still has the world record. A few days later I was promoted to a site-wide full mod, so this wasn't during that. Once he came back, shit hit the fan.
He begins by accusing "the Dead Space 2 Community" of trying to control Dead Space 1 (which is complaining about Mattmatt10111 by proxy, even though he does have a run and knowledge of the game) and goes off insulting them: "Like get the fuck out losers." The crux of his argument to his time on the leaderboard was, because he mentioned in the forums how his run was timed differently than the rest, it was alright. This made no sense.
He goes on rambling how the moderators don't have any runs and act as though they're controlling a game from the runners. To start with, I personally believe that while in most cases there should a runner moderating a game, if run-less moderators are reasonably knowledgeable of the game, competent enough to know how a leaderboard should be handled, and listens to the runners when they would like a change/no change, they're fine for the position. The other two moderators have been rather inactive lately so I can't speak for them but I had/have NO intention on trying to control a game against what the all runners say, especially when I don't run it. This is why Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 has a setup different from the rest of the series; the runners didn't like the series-wide system I made, so I've left it alone. (Still hoping they'll change their minds)
He posts degraded into just name calling and tantrum throwing. I gave him two warnings to knock it off but he persisted, and was banned as a result. I later removed myself from the game's moderator list to not be seen as 'head mod', which is a minor problem as being a full mod. I'm still willing to help out if Mattmatt10111 is alright with it.
If he had just maintained his cool and acted like a rational adult, we wouldn't have had this problem in the first place. I did contact the admins about this problem and they agreed with the decision (or at least weren't against.) I don't get how the Dead Space games get this much drama; they've had problems with moderators and runners despite not being a very popular game to speedrun.
If you have an N64 run, a category can be made for it, sure. I removed N64 as a platform option because it always defaults to it even though all the runs are PC, making it a nuisance.
I can jot those down, but I think the specific can be handled once someone has a run in, otherwise we're just kind of rambling on.
Schematics make sense. Semiconductors are just for cash so they'd help with money, so it's kind of de facto.
I removed myself to prevent myself from being seen as 'head mod' or anything. I can still help out unless Matt want to slap me.
I updated the rules to 100%.
I kind of whipped it up while at the gym and didn't think of everything at the time. I can change it real quick.
As for full upgraded weapons, I don't think that's possible on the first playthrough. A category that requires multiple runs doesn't sound too attractive. In any case, the first runner will usually decides these sorts of things, I just wanted to leave it open.
Arkane's version does not use any of the planned sequel's assets, and only incorporates the name and the broad theme of the protagonist being hunted by aliens of the previous games. Arkane built Prey as a spiritual sequel to System Shock[...]
Good enough to remove the series, at least for now.
