Probably means that clicking on an IL in the graph takes you to that run now ^ Can't remember there ever being an issue with that though lol
Amazing run and amazing pop off lol!
@SioN I agree with that feedback :)) I'd love to keep a history log of the fastest TAS made by date per category, and some sort of documentation on which community member contributed to the strat/the TASing of the strat, even on small time-saves. But that would be down the line sorta thing, like if people start using the TAS features on the site and want more support for it. For now, yeah, a basic interface to upload the fastest to-date TAS with a few notes would be great.
- TAS Leaderboards TASing has become so popular that it would make sense for srcom to host TAS runs with credit given to the main TASers. Since all categories would remain the same, we could either host the runs with a [TAS] tag within the same leaderboard, or create a duplicate leaderboard with [TAS] appended to each category name. Just throwing out ideas, would love to hear more.
Actually maybe the leaderboards wouldn't be duplicate, as some bots can do much more than humans can. I'd see this like a category extension leaderboard, perhaps.

just playin :))
Hi all, Great ideas here. If you want your ideas to be shown at the top, please follow the format I've asked for. @Solderq35 @Liv @hahhah42 please consider numbering and titling your top ideas if you would like to see them above. See the example in my post.
@Daravae Lol it's true, so much feedback lost. Take a look at the Discord conversation we had about this a couple years ago. I think it was you who I spoke to about it. In the convo, I suggested we start an Excel sheet to track all the ideas and you told me that you thought it wasn't worth it because srcom keeps their own list. And that was a sad day for me because I realized that you were right and that the old srcom devs prioritized whatever they wanted instead of looking at feature requests :')
Nice to see runs on string theory :)) Consider adding timestamps to your vid link for individual levels so the video starts at the right place
@hahhah42 @Kkntucara Please add a summary title to your requests if you'd like to see them in the first post :))
This is a blank slate but the plan is to update this like @Garsh did last month to keep user requests fresh for Elo staff.
How this works:
- Post your ideas below.
- If your idea is longer than seven words, give it a title. Try to be specific instead of saying "Issues with X".
- If you have more than one idea, number your ideas.
- If you have more than 5 ideas, consider posting the features you really want to see this month.
- Upvote posts you like and I will sort the ideas here by their "hotness"
- Elo Staff ( @Meta ) says: Be sure to also submit each idea as a ticket to Support Hub
Example Post:
- Notification for tied WRs
- Set Discord link for a series
- Export the audit log (Then continue your post with details of each)
Mod Hub @Liv #1 - Allow mods to claim runs + 6 votes @Liv #2 - Don't load all videos at once + 6 votes @Liv #3 - Mod notes on runs + 6 votes
Runs and Leaderboards @Solderq35 #1 - [Category and Subcategory Problems] (https://www.speedrun.com/post/0ag8g) + 4 votes @Solderq35 #2 - Applying Subcategories or Variables Selectively + 4 votes @Solderq35 #3 - IL "View All Levels" Leaderboard Table Problems + 4 votes @Solderq35 #4 - Miscellaneous IL problems + 4 votes @Solderq35 #5 - Timing Customization+ 4 votes @Oxknifer #1 - TAS Leaderboards
Support Hub @Kkntucara #1 - Editable support hub requests + 1 vote
General Site @JACK4L #1 - Update the BW flag - 2 votes
Join the MSD (mobile speedrunning discord), you'll have access to a lot of people with a lot of great suggestions :))
I'll throw out: Yokai Dungeon and Treemaker
@Leo_Salvatore_7 Please treat @starsmiley and the other site mods with respect, even if you aren't getting what you want. Acting up will not make people happy about helping you.
Hey it looks like you already posted about this issue, why not bump that thread instead of starting this one? https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/gzq53
On the run submission page, please consider saving users a click and auto-selecting "You are" as Player 1, and auto-filling "Player" with our username.
Edit: This is for Chrome, on a laptop
Edit 7/17/2023: Thank you for fixing this!
@Garsh, these are great ideas! Thanks for collecting them :))
I'll say this here, too: "Things this entity needs to do" is not likely to make the people who are a part of that entity want to respond to you. See here: https://www.speedrun.com/post/5an3w
tldr; demanding representatives at ELO to do things will not make them happy about considering your ideas. The clickbait title is not a respectful way to approach providing quality feedback. Be appreciative that ELO is making a considerable effort to keep the vibe of the community positive and is doing their best to ensure that our feedback is heard and implemented :))
Edit: True, this definitely isn't as bad as "Elo, we need action." Sorry if came off as harsh, garsh :)) I think I just don't like that we treat Elo as a large entity instead of a group of people who want to help us.
For all considering giving feedback in an extended thread, I would suggest dropping it here: https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/3hhud/ That's a good thread for bumping up ideas. Or maybe not. New suggestion:
Since those ideas seem to get lost in the pages, much like in the original feedback forum post, maybe we could consider creating monthly feedback threads to keep the ideas fresh, but not with titles that disrespectfully demand action. For instance, maybe the thread we could start next month: "Feature Requests and Feedback: December 2021"
This way, the "hottest" suggestions will get looked at and liked and bumped, hopefully without too much repetition as the months go by. And, if we find that it's not working, we can stop and try something else.
Garsh, it also might be cool to keep track of which ideas are most supported by users. The list format is very helpful and I really like the way you did it. We could have users do a vote by number in the list (for instance, a post saying "I like ideas 4, 5, 8, 12") and put the highest voted feedback suggestions higher in the category. Doing so will give reps at ELO a pretty quick look at what features are the most important to us by month.
Forums:
- A way to directly report posts [8 votes]
- Increase forum moderation (by adding forum moderators, forum flagging, or some combination of the two) [7 votes]
- A preview function for forum posts (similar to the one for news posts) [3 votes]
- Allow normal moderators to delete individual posts on game forums (for some reason this is currently locked to only super moderators) [1 vote]
- A search function (so threads can be easily located) [1 vote]
With this method, we might consider deleting (by month) the pieces of feedback that received fewer votes (such as 5 or less votes) and keeping the ones that got the most votes on the list for the next month as "legacy" feature requests that can still be voted on. And maybe we should consider upvote/downvote
test 100+ pages 100 pages 100+ pages Hmm. I don't know how to do this
@Pear I'm really supportive of this suggestion and I'm glad you brought it up. It definitely needs to be handled and I'm glad we have active users making good feedback suggestions (as feedback is one thing in the forums that is very important)!
However, a suggestion for all those giving feedback, telling people "ENTITY, WE NEED A RESPONSE" is not likely to make the people who are a part of that entity want to respond to you. Your suggestion was not a day-of emergency that needed an immediate response. It's not like someone was dying or we had a security breach.
This is coming from someone who has made about 100 suggestions of feedback over four years on this site and watched 90+ of those get ignored due to the unavailability of site staff. Those of us asking for site changes were patient, as well as patient about receiving communication from site staff. It took site staff three years to follow through on bringing direct messaging to this website, and we got very few progress reports. It was really frustrating to see 100 pages of quality feedback get ignored. Watching ELO pump out monthly updates and responding to users is like watching magic elves restore the lush green hills of the valley that were absorbed by darkness for many years. In other words, it's refreshing as hell!
A nicer title for this post would be "Forum Mod/Flagging Suggestion." ELO is made up of nice people and they do listen to the community. It's not like you're trying to get through to a giant company. Hopefully it never reaches a point where it feels like ELO is too big to feel like our feedback reaches the top, but I'd bet the forum will be scrapped if that happens.
tldr; demanding a response from representatives in ELO will not make them happy about considering your idea. The clickbait title is not a respectful way to approach providing quality feedback. Be appreciative that ELO is making a considerable effort to keep the vibe of the community positive and is doing their best to ensure that our feedback is heard and implemented :))
