@Hi meant to say it was a bit less relevant for 2 minutes. But then it became relevant again.

@SioN But it's relevant to the topic, probably

@TRLittleToaster That's because they didn't make an "I'm leaving" thread.

I think it happens when the post has an open quote, which is not closed properly. I reported it a long time ago.

It's a web game, not really a ROM

Even the site changelog says nothing about locking custom themes for non-donators.

@Sizzyl This thread is not even close. Here is a thread that packs a real punch: https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/dueac

@Viper Blacklisting players from submitting runs into a game because of not following the submission rules of said game, seems WAY too harsh.

About pausing games during a speedrun: I watched speedruns of few games with ingame timer, where pausing isn't just allowed, it is also recommended as a speed-strat.

Due to an oversight by the games' developers, while the game is paused some elements of it still move (like moving platforms or enemies). So you can alter the game normal cycles by pausing the game, and the IGT won't advance.

I also moderate 2 games with the same principle. In those cases, pausing/no pausing is separated to different categories.

(Of course, if a game has RTA timing, it's not relevant because the timer keeps going while you pause the game.)

So I agree with what @ShikenNuggets said - the comment about pausing is generalized, each game works differently.

If we start ranking threads by how "useful" or "useless" they are, the entire Talk forums would have to be purged.

@Hi Again, I am a specific counter example to what you say. I set my profile theme (background, speedrun.com logo, cyan text ) in 2019, and I didn't donated.

@hahhah42 Of course. But when this topic came up in the past several times, the site mods said that the games list need a complete overhaul; and it never had top priority.

There is also an issue about what to do with the old tags system. If a new set list of genre tags is proposed, should the old freetext tags be deleted, and then game moderators would have to choose new tags from the new list? And if current tags are made into a list, how would "duplicate tags" be resolved? (I don't remember exact details, but I did saw a lot of duplicate genre tags in the past)

Also, as for pre-made list of tags, I feel like it would only be relevant for game genres. You can't really make up a pre-made list of publishers and developers, because there are just too many of them; plus someone would have to manage this list and add new value to it all the time. (Not that publishers/developers tags were proposed in this thread)

@Bob-chicken I just read through the last 100 posts by Act7, and I really don't understand what your problem is. There are some "legit" posts in there (game related posts, introduction-welcome posts, discussion posts).

All the "spam" posts come from mainly 2 threads in the Talk forum:

 • What if someone kept bumping their own thread?
 • Add on to the sentence

If you have a problem with people spamming messages in those threads, then you have a specific problem with those threads (because they were made for it), not with the posters.

Game moderators CAN put some tags on their games (like developer, publisher, genre). On the old games list page, you could even games filter by those tags. But right now, they are pretty useless and you can't do anything with them.

The problems:

 • The old games list was super slow, so it was revamped to what it is today, but the ability to filter by tags was removed.
 • The tags were a free-text submission, not something from a dropdown list. For example, that made things like "Bethesda" and "Bethesda Game Studios" to be different publisher values.

I still don't know why you think that profile themes were only open to donators.

If you see "fancy" emoji icons on the site header (hourglass, envelope, bell), instead of the normal icons, It means one of the JavaScript/Css files of the site failed to load, and it won't work properly.

(This mostly happened to me in the past, when the site took forever to load.)

Just refresh the page until it loads correctly.

I think it boils down to semantics at this point. I feel like ROBLOX is more similar to large series like Mario, Pokémon, Sonic. Do most games in those series relate to each other (in terms of plot/story)? Not really, but they are still in the same "universe".

(As opposed to series like Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Kingdom Hearts; where there is clear sense of progression between games.)
Unless it’s a Scratch series apparently
I don't know what are the decisions behind accepting or rejecting new series. But I would argue that Scratch is a site platform for hosting/making games; and other than that, the Scratch games have absolutely nothing in common. It's like making a series for Html5, Unity, or Flash games.
