2× 'Truck Stop' (00:33:18 - 00:39:22) Skips 'Marked Men' in the current route. Tested and confirmed on every version. Requires a save and quit after the dupe in International PSP versions, otherwise the 'Hose the Hoes' chain can crash. This is a cutscene dupe so you can softlock or crash the game if you mess up the timing. You need to spam X to skip the first cinematic cutscene before it even appears. The first ingame cutscene will play, wait it out and the second cinematic cutscene will start. Skip the second cinematic cutscene after ~1 second. The second ingame cutscene will play which can be skipped anytime. Regarding the truck, there are multiple outcomes: A) Driving on its wheels: proceed as usual. B) Stuck upside down: go out of bounds and unflip the Perennial then proceed as usual OR throw a grenade to them and get back in the Perennial before the truck blows up. The out-of-bounds strat only works in PSP versions. C) Stuck on its side: drive the Perennial next to it so your gunners can shoot the enemies (fastest scenario). D) Stuck on top of the fake truck: try to drive the fake truck out from underneath the real one. The real truck might flip to its side in this process. E) The truck will blow up before you reach it. (uncommon) F) The game will crash before you reach the truck. (rare) In scenarios B, C and D Phil's truck can get stuck inside the fake truck on the way back, so the fake truck can be moved out of the way in advance for safety, which is heavily recommended for PPSSPP runs. Comparison: Grenade strat if truck is upside down: This description and videos don't cover the recently discovered Partial Act Change Skip glitch.

'Taxi Driver' instapass (International PSP only) [found by Powdinet] You need to save and quit within ~5 seconds or the game crashes.

'Vigilante' triple and fail (PSP)

  1. Start tripled 'Vigilante' --> counter: 3
  2. Complete level --> counter: 6
  3. Cancel once --> counter gone
  4. Start after 2nd set of criminals spawn --> counter: 9
  5. Complete level --> counter: 12
  6. Cancel once --> counter gone
  7. Start after 2nd set of crimanls spawn --> counter: 15
  8. Cancel once --> Mission passed The setup can be combined with "destroy vehicle" Rampages.

'Air Rescue' with Hunter [found by RationalPsycho] Description by Momo_Ouali2001: Fly to Sunshine Autos, then start Vigilante and cancel it while picking up one of the padlocks. You have now gained control of Vic while also having the option to buy a vehicle. Hold X Throughout the whole thing (If you want to get out of a vehicle in this state, Hold Triangle, then release X, then hold X and release Triangle). Now start om0 rampage 1, then fly to the Beach Patrol BF Injection, get out of the Hunter, get in the BF Injection and start Beach Patrol (You must start the Coastguard version) before the rampage ends. Now go to the Ocean Beach hospital, take the Air Ambulance and fly back to the beach. Now get on the Coastguard, then get back in the Air Ambulance. You now have a 30sec timer to get back in the Coastguard, once it reaches 1sec, start Air Rescue. Now, you're near the BF and Air Rescue is active, but the mission won't progress till you enter a vehicle. NOW release X to buy the vehicle you've been holding this entire time, and the game will warp you to Sunshine Autos, where the padlock you picked up was. Now RUN to the airport (DON't take any vehicles on the way, else you'll be doing Air Rescue with that vehicle) (use your Binoculars to megajump repeatedly instead of running normally, you'll save a few seconds that way.) and take the Hunter. As a result of all this, you're doing Air Rescue with a Hunter instead of the intended Air Ambulance!

2× 'Fire Fighter'

'Fear the Repo' - 'Waking Up the Neighbors' chain and 3× 'O, Brothel, Where Art Thou?' (00:17:43 - 00:29:00) om0 'Waking Up the Neighbors' skips a mission from the highest unlocked strand. In the current route this is Louise: 'When Funday Comes'. The out-of-bounds strat only works in PSP versions. 3× 'O, Brothel, Where Art Thou?' skips 2 missions from the highest unlocked strand. In the current route this is Louise: 'Takin' Out the White-Trash' and 'D.I.V.O.R.C.E.'. This allows for early completion of 'To Victor, the Spoils'.

2× 'Got Protection?' (00:31:48 - 00:35:33) Skips a mission from the highest unlocked strand. In the current route this is Phil: 'Boomshine Blowout'. Tested and confirmed on every version.

'Playground On The Park' instapass (PS2 only) [found by Powdinet] It will always pass 'Playground On The Park' even if you start 'Playground On The Point'. (These 2 missions share the same mission script.)

If you're used to the analog/d-pad layout of PS controllers then don't get an Xbox one. A PS4 controller works perfectly for PPSSPP and the emulator will recognise it without third party software.

I wonder how you connected a PS2 controller to your PC/smartphone/Switch to begin with. Either way, the PSP has no R2/L2 buttons or a right analog stick so the PSP versions of the game don't support them.

It's been known that in VCS the credits are triggered after completing the required mission chains in Chapter 3, regardless of the order you complete the missions. For a long time, Fry and me have been theorising about the possibility of skipping Last Stand via duping Over the Top. Quite a few months ago Fry successfully cutscene-duped the mission, but it could not be completed because the marker that leads inside the admin building is broken and softlocks the game.

However, last week Fry discovered that you can actually trigger the escape sequence of the mission by entering the Hunter before entering the admin building. This can be achieved by megajumping from the small building which you enter the army base from.

The video below shows the setup + the dupe itself. (Yes, it also works on real PSP - Fry has tested it.)

COMPARISON: Top-Left: Duped w/ MJ Top-Right: Unduped w/ MJ Bottom-Left: Unduped w/o MJ Muted version: (in case it's copyrekt in your country)

DIFFICULTY: The cutscene dupe (just like in the case of other cutscene dupes) can crash or softlock the game if it is failed (timed incorrectly). Currently, the most consistent method to get it successfully is to:

  • skip cinematic cutscene when rampage fails
  • wait ~1 second
  • spam X a little (until Loading text disappears?)
  • wait
  • cinematic cutscene starts playing (sometimes it doesn't though), can be skipped. (This might sound confusing at first, but it will work when you start trying.) When you respawn outside Diaz's mansion, you get the dupe even when you seemingly didn't. This is something that you can only really tell when you get to the cutscene where you meet Phil. (Although getting the 30k ammo from the Rampage is a good indicator.) For me, the dupe was harder to perform than Snitch Hitch

NOTES: 1.) RNG-ing a Police Car on the way Downtown and using the Drive-By rampage on top of the staircase across Ammu-Nation is not faster. You can't bring a Police Bike from Light My Pyre because cinematic cutscene at the end of the mission despawns it. Compared to the shorter drive, you lose time for having the Uzi instead of the MP5 when destroying the Mendez car on the bridge. RNG-ing a Police Bike on the drive hasn't been timed as far as I know, but I am expecting a similar result.

2.) If you duped OoT but missed the megajump, the backup is to drive a Barracks OL next to the the fence and use that jump over. This loses a lot of time because the soldiers can wreck it in seconds as you're driving there, requiring you to kill most of them, but it's the only way to complete the mission at that point.

3.) For some reason, the interior of Diaz's mansion is located above Little Haiti, close to where you deliver the tank in Sir Yes Sir. Sometimes after a successful dupe you can get teleported there and skip the sequence with the Mendez car. However, getting this requires a different timing method from the one we currently know.

4.) Obviously, the sequence break by itself saves a good amount of time and it's worth doing even if you're not going for the OoT dupe. In this case, the fastest way to get a megajump weapon is to run on top of the ship in Viceport while driving the Cheetah to Phil. (Getting Remote Grenades during So Long Schlong was also considered but the idea was quickly dismissed.)

CONSEQUENCES: The reality of a possible OoT dupe skipping the last mission in the game but not the credits, raises the need to change the way Any% runs are timed. Timing should end when the credits are reached, instead of on the death of both final bosses.

  1. Disallow. These files don't come with the box and are not generated by the game either.
  2. Disallow. This is crossing into TAS territory.
  3. Disallow frame limiter off. Can't imagine higher framerates to not speed up travel. Also raises the question of third party frame limiters. Methods people used would be impossible to detect from a 30fps video recording. This all feels unnecessary when the game's built-in framelimiter works just fine and provides the same physics behaviour to everyone.

Hello fellow LCS runners!

For a while now I've been working on an autosplitter for LCS through the PPSSPP Emulator with the help of zazaza691 and Parik.

Currently the autosplitter can be used for:

  • Any%
  • Extension categories like All Missions, OoT% and Ingame 100%
  • Collectible categories
  • 100% with mission splits or combining them with collectible splits
  • Seagull Snipe The script also supports starting the timer automatically according to the current timing rules .

Currently the autosplitter works with:

  • PPSSPP: 64-bit executable, from v1.4 up to v1.14.1 in addition to v1.15, standard or Gold
  • GTA LCS: ULUS10041_1.05_ARTiSAN (CRC32: 87E2772E; v1 American UMD disc release; MAIN.SCM dated 12/10/2005) ONLY

You can always find the latest version here. Make sure to check back regularly after a new version of PPSSPP gets released!

After opening LiveSplit and the layout you want to use right click on the timer and select Edit Layout.... Click on the big + icon on the left side of the new window and select Control -> Scriptable Auto Splitter. Double click on the new Scriptable Auto Splitter element in the list of objects. A new window will open. Click on the Browse... button and locate the downloaded .asl file. Wait while LiveSplits is processing the script.

The window should look like this. From here you can select what events you want the script to autosplit on. All options show tooltips when you hover the cursor over them, telling you exactly what event triggers a split. If a compatible PPSSPP version is being used, Game Version will display detected otherwise unknown. If Game Version doesn't appear at all you launched the wrong emulator executable (eg PPSSPPWindows.exe instead of PPSSPPWindows64.exe).

In the future I would like to update the script to:

  • Add individual options for splitting for each mission (on start and pass separately)
  • Add individual options for splitting for each Import/Export vehicle
  • (complete)
  • (complete)

Hello again.

  1. You do USJ #1 with the Streetfighter on the way to Phil's place. You progress with the mission as you normally would until you part where you obtain the money from Phil's apartment. After that you take the fixed Sanchez from the trailer park and do USJ #13 inside the airport on the way back to the army base.

Your suggestions for fixing the balloons and adding the video about the Paramedic strat are noted.

Hello, I'm glad you are showing interest in the category but first of all, no need to make a separate copy of the route without waiting for any answers. I assume you were confused, that's why you did it. No problem with that, but ask others (either wait for a post here or write in Discord) before doing something unnecessary.

I'll reflect to the changes you listed under the submitted guide.

  1. Indeed, the balloons don't make any sense for that split. I asked Caster to work on this.
  2. You are supposed to take the fixed Sanchez from the trailer park AFTER completing the part of the mission at Phil's old apartment.
  3. You are supposed to grab the shotgun on the way to Phil's old apartment. "We have to do Boomshine Blowout before Marty's first mission so we don't approach Marty from South with the shotgun on the way." -Caster. Wheter this is slower or not is a different question. Have you timed them?
  4. I assume this was leftover information from an older version of the route. Fair point.
  5. Self explanatory.
  6. Good addition but this alone does not justify branching the route into a separate document (this makes it more difficult for people to find the right document). You could have just asked us to link the video.

A few more thoughts:

PSP:

  • The autoaim problems of the Japanese version are also present in the German version. Avoid this release because it doesn't have any benefits.
  • In the Japanese version during Rampage #11 (w/ Uzi) Cholos have Pistols and Uzis instead of Baseball Bats and Pistols, dealing more damage to the player.
  • You get all your weapons back during "Burning Bridges" in the Japanese version. Skipping second Ammu-Nation in Any% should be considered.
  • German and Japanese versions do not have blood.

PS2:

  • Higher resolution.
  • Better drawn distance.
  • The ability to fine tune your aim is not present in this port, making precise shots harder.
  • Looking backwards (with R3) while running is annoying, if at all possible to do.
  • Can not megajump with the Detonator (currently not used in any categories)
  • Due to collision fixes you can not use the BMX method to go accross the Starfish Island bridge to the second island early. Currently used in All Red Balloons and All Rampages routes. Players need to use the Yankee method or choose the Leaf Links bridge for the BMX strat instead.
  • During Rampage #11 (w/ Uzi) Cholos have Pistols and Uzis instead of Baseball Bats and Pistols, dealing more damage to the player.
  • You get all your weapons back during "Burning Bridges". Skipping second Ammu-Nation in Any% should be considered.
  • 6 new unlockable/purchasable vehicles. (Not sure if useful for anything.)
  • 6 new side missions.
  • Several smaller map changes.

Also, as far as I know switching languages in only possible on the European version so the Pager Skip is restricted to that version of the PS2 port.

Since Japanese 'Burning Bridges' respawns all of your weapons, skipping Ammu-Nation during 'Blitzkrieg Strikes Again' should be considered.
