To add to the suggested changes by @Oreo321, I'd also suggest changing the "speedrun.com" banner at the top, as it's currently the logo for the game and the site rules state it needs to say "speedrun.com" (not to mention that it's also currently unreadable, so I'd also try to get an image with a different size).
I was doing an IL on a Venom boss fight for Spider-Man 2000 when suddenly I clipped through the floor for no apparent reason.
Needless to say it's a useless clip in terms of the speedrun, but kinda funny to mess around with. Venom certainly had no clue what just happened :P
Sounds like a question better suited for that game's leaderboard forum.
EDIT: Dem ninja fruits beatin' me to the punch
Shouldn't you speedrun a game you already are good at. Can't just go to a game and think "i want to speedrun this" can i?
I mean, if you have a particular game from your childhood that kept annihilating you, you could learn how to speedrun it to whoop its ass as a personal vendetta I guess. Could make for a good personal motive :)
The bottom line is that you should speedrun a game that you find enjoyable, no matter if you find it easy or hard. If you truly enjoy playing it, sooner or later you're bound to get good as long as you keep at it.
There's been a few completely obvious impersonations of other users of the site, such as @Starsmilley. They got banned pretty quickly, but I think their ulterior motive wasn't necessarily speedrunning a ban but rather fooling around a bit passing as someone else, even if just for a bit.
We might never know if it ever truly happened though.
I agree that it's a very bad idea to actually try this unless you really hate the site and never want anything to do with it
Exactly. A "ban speedrunner" will ultimately be no different from a regular user getting banned, so they'll just get banned like the rest without any extra considerations to any potential ban speedruns taking place. They'll most likely receive the same treatment as anyone else, which is: no ban evading, no alts, and if the ban is permanent, no coming back.
If what you seek is a list of fastest banned users, there's quite a few bots I've reported that have gotten banned in mere minutes, so I guess there's that.
would Speedrun.com just mercilessly ban a strongly suspected "ban speedrunner" even if it gives the "runner" the satisfaction of a record time, or would they have a good laugh and refuse to ban them at all
How would they differentiate a regular jackass from a "ban speedrunner" though? Unless you're doing it wrong, you'd want to stay as close to the jackass stereotype to get banned as fast as possible.
...at which point you start to see why this is a bad idea. Ban speedruns only incentivize bad behavior in the place of interest, so unless you really have it out for the site I don't see why you'd want to do this.
Also, does anyone know how Speedrun.com would deal with a "ban speedrun" of their site?
I mean, it's not an actual videogame, so I wouldn't really expect them to add a leaderboard for something like that if that's what you were hoping for.
Regardless, the site already gets enough rickrolls without adding an extra incentive to them, so I think I'd rather not encourage this.
Marvelous
@Camcorder Just tried re-downloading my data, can confirm I no longer see any runs not belonging to me. Great work man!
For example, there are runs listed where I'm certain that I have never viewed, verified, rejected, or submitted them.
I've had the same thing happen to me as well, where around 5-10 runs on the list weren't mine and I had no clue how they were linked to me. I'm certainly not a game mod, so I've never verified/rejected any runs myself. I've asked around a bit and the same seems to be the case for other people, so I'm not sure what's up with that.
But hey, at least it's cool to see all this info I guess
Yes you can! Go to your user profile settings (click on your username on the bar at the top):
As another example, Disney Tarzan has a japanese version for PS1 that actually has less HP for certain enemies, making it a lot faster to complete the second-to-last level in the game (which forces you to kill several enemies to progress), so it's naturally the preferred version for that console.
I think "Fair" and norris_h_duke should pretty much be on the same tier, given that they're strongly linked together
Everything else is fair game though
I'd suggest using imgur instead of uploading images on discord, as a discord message is liable to getting deleted.
