Yeah so initially we didn't understand why this bug was happening, but since the release of the update we've nailed it down to being deleted games still showing up in the list. Does that make sense in your case @JuegAriel?
Today, we're launching an updated user settings page. Our development team has worked hard in this area to increase user security and rebuild the site infrastructure in this area to set a foundation for exciting things to come! Before we dig in, I’d like to give a personal big thanks to the closed beta testers who helped us polish this release:
Daravae Symystery Danejerus Seydie Sjorec ShikenNuggets Ekorn
You were all a massive help in creating a smooth launch of this update, and we look forward to more beta tests for future updates!
On top of rebuilding the settings page from the ground up to create a better foundation for future projects, it now has a few security improvements, some clarification around the purpose of many settings, better organization to find important settings, and a fresh coat of paint to boot!
I won’t dive into the nitty gritty details of everything that was changed around, tweaked, or added because it's a lot of small things — but I encourage you to check it out and see everything new for yourself!
If you’d like to discuss the new settings page, please use this thread! We'll monitor it for the next couple of days before locking the thread and asking everyone to take their user settings related bug reports and feedback over to the Support Hub! [This thread has now been locked!]
- .lss and .lsl upload fix
- Added a prompt when submitting a run to aid in reducing the amount of inaccurate times submitted
- Fixed Twitch embed in run notes
- Added Emulator status and ban status flag to the Mod Hub RaV page
- Fixed a caching issue that was causing game themes to not update properly
- Fixed issue where moderator widget would not update to show new additions and name changes
- Fixed a bug where saving variables would sometimes shift the location of UI elements on a leaderboard
Let us know down below what your thoughts are!
Yeah, when making game themes I usually use Photoshop, although GIMP is a solid free alternative.
One thing I recommend, similar to what Bacon was saying is to use a website to help you find the right font. I recommend https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ personally. I'll usually find a similar font, type in Speedrun.com into the example box, zoom into the page so its as big as possible and screenshot that. Then I bring it into Photoshop and remove the background, and clean it up if need be.
Then you can use the eye dropper to select colours and stuff. I also usually try to include parts of the game's logos or icons in it like I did with https://www.speedrun.com/valorant and https://www.speedrun.com/ghostrunner
I think it could be cool to bring back as like a social thing similar to Twitch rather than a marathon thing.
But yeah to those wondering, Teams/Marathons weren't removed, but rather they broke at some point back and we didn't even notice for quite a while because no one was using them anyway. I'm sure Teams (and maybe marathons too?) will probably come back at some point, but they're definitely not a top priority compared to things like improving the leaderboard and moderator experience imo
In OBS you want to add a Window Source for LiveSplit and overlay it on top of the game. When you see livesplit over the game in a video, it's not ACTUALLY over the game for the runner, its just OBS showing it that way :) Also feel free to join the Discord (the button beneath the follow button) for more help
I know Far Cry 4 was mentioned, but Far Cry 5 is arguably worse tbh lol. You sit through an autoscroller and choose to just not arrest the guy, whereas arresting him leads you to the rest of the game.
Thankfully Far Cry 6 actually has a pretty dope any% run, you still have an early ending but it's completing the first island which is like 13% completion. It ends up being about 35 mins, and its pretty fun
LRT > IGT all day. Its only problem is accessibility to console runners
In an ideal future, Visual Autosplitters will be perfect and we can have loadless times on every game easily
Oh yeah looks like you're right, my bad. Looks like you just connect it to your PC and record it with OBS or something, neat
Nope. DS's don't come with any HDMI output which means you can't natively hook up a capture card to it. The site is selling modded DS's that do have the HDMI out so that you can hook up a capture card to it
