A newcomer posted an All-Objective run and is not considered the first place, because the 'variables' apparently do not keep separate rankings.

Is there a faster way for me to fix this besides making two of every character category?

So, I've been trying to clean up the system here. In the DW6 game, I figured out the Variables function allows for a cleaner format. Instead of having every character AND their difficulty and NewGame(+) in separate categories (which would make it way too fucking many), we could just have:

Example: Category: 'Name of Character' Real Time: ??:??:?? In-Game Time: ?:??:?? Variables:

  • Difficulty: Novice, Easy, Normal, Hard, Chaos, Expert
  • All S-Rank Missions: Yes / No
  • New Game / New Game+

The moderator(s) of this game: https://www.speedrun.com/warriors_orochi and the series in general: https://www.speedrun.com/warriors_orochi_series are not responding on any of their accounts (most of which are set to private or block messages from strangers).

I want to add the individual levels to the newly added DW6 Special, but I'll need you or someone to let me know what levels and factions for those new levels are. I know it's not more than like 5 more battles than DW6 vanilla, but I don't know for sure since I don't own the ps2 version.

Different characters have different sets of battles, so the campaigns are different for each character. DW4, 7, and 8 could do faction musou modes, since its the same set of battles regardless of characters, but DW3, 5, and 6 need character specific runs.

God help whoever has to do full Objective% Chang Ban Wei faction.

Also: DW6 for PS2 is a completely different game and deserves it's own different game category.

I totally did not even consider pause-dialogue-skips for IGT, even for DW and SW. What a conundrum we have here, gents. How do we proceed?

EDIT: I personally think the concept of IGT is better, even while considering pause-skips, since it makes it fair. 'Anyone' can pause skip. Not everyone is sharing the same load-times depending on hardware, or sets of items that could affect menuing.

Well, your promotion must mean you can certainly make those changes now. :D

Since doing the entire game is rather daunting, I think every chapter should have it's own category. The Cats for WO3 should be formatted as WO4s: https://www.speedrun.com/Warriors_Orochi_4

We also need to really decide with each other on using in-game time or real-time. I've said it before that if a game that gives you the IGT as a feature, it should be used. Menuing on these kinds of games is fickle and load-time differences will create slight unfairness, in my opinion.

I definitely will change them. It is certainly too many. But it was my first time, so mistakes were going to be made :/

The game has been added - the game is different enough to add it, what with all the DLC. If there are any more issues or requests for categories, please post them in the specific game forums.

I will add it when site bugs are fixed; I currently cannot add any games to the series.

I recently requested Dynasty Warriors 6 to be placed on speedrun.com and they told me to go through the series mods instead.

I plan on streaming and running more of this game with others; may I request the spot in moderating it?

This is my first submission:

Maybe not my place since I run 1 and not 4, but:

I used to think that the speed of navigating menus should be included in the runs. However, having sat through great lengths of loading screens in my Dynasty Warriors 6 practice, I will say that if a game includes in-game as a function, there is no reason 'not' to use it.

These Warriors games also have weapon/item/horse-pickup menus that can extend the post-battle menuing time. Not only that, but equipping weapons and items is unfairly different in those games where your collected items could be at the top or bottom of the menu depending on 'when' you collected them. Also consider the menu for having too many non-deletable weapons in WO1-2. So either we re-learn the best route by picking the least awards up as possible to make up for that time, or we don't count the menuing time at all.

It would prevent a few potential minor problems as well, such as cheating or people having different load times (via hardware issues, not being able to 'install' games to HDD, etc). Not having to 'menu' would make using time split programs easier, and you could see cutscenes too if you cared.

I honestly couldn't see anyone doing NG not-plus on SW2 Vanilla since you have to beat other characters to unlock them. I can also see people using two controllers to abuse shop system in lvl 1 runs.

You COULD make it a rule to NOT visit shops and use only reset characters (seen on video) for NG runs.

EDIT: Assuming this game had the reset character function back then.

I think we could improve this by organizing vanilla as:

  • Musou Mode ___Characters (NG+) ___Characters (Level One / Reset Stats)
  • Sugoroku
  • Survival Mode
  • Individual Stages and Forces ~I don't think character subcategories would matter in these categories, nor in the Xtreme Legends extra mode, which if I remember is:
  • Conquest

Again, I am willing to do the mod tedious work for it.

I am willing to do all that tedious menu-ing if you want. Same for XL. Do console versions have any stark differences, save for the disc-swapping?
