Wii U works with Wii component cables Beatrix, I'm bringing mine so you can use those if there's an issue.
(Also the PS2 component cable I offered is up for public use, I'm not going to need it at all during the event)
Pottoww it's just console and video cables, capture cards are sorted by the tech team. HW Region is for region locked consoles, so the iQue is CHN
I guess I may as well put this down here so people know what I'm bringing, even though I was already asked about it. I will bring: PAL Wii (softmodded), Component and composite cables PS2/PS3 Component cable (I remember there being not enough PS3 cables last year, so bringing this in case people need one, cable only, no console) X360 USB Wireless controller adapter for PC Possibly a PAL Wii U, although it seems very unlikely at the moment.
However, I cannot bring my PC (I have a Arc midi R2 case, pretty impossible to fit into a suitcase), and my FF13 run is on PC. While the dreamhack PC's should be fine, the game has some issues with hardware compatibility. Most NVidia graphics setups run it fine, but if someone is possibly bringing a more modern setup with an NVidia card, would it be possible for me to do my run on that if the supplied PCs have issues? (For reference my Home PC has no issues with a i5/750Ti)
Poeguyz mentioned on twitter towards flicky that rayman 3 needed to be moved earlier, not sure if that's been noticed/updated?
I'm interested. Now to think up some games to submit :D
I think I just need to put my thoughts out there on something, bear in mind this is entirely my opinion and doesn't represent the stance of the game selection group in any way.
The 2 streams are intended to be equal, with one focusing more on runs, and the other including non-speedrun stuff such as tournaments and recaps from the event. However it seems like due to the large number of dropouts, the amount of speedrun content has had to be cut down significantly on the second stream. This however shouldn't mean that people view them as a main/good stream and a secondary/crappy stream, which I've seen from a lot of people. If anything, moving strong runs off the second stream will give people even less of a reason to watch it, and since the goal of the 2 stream system is to always give people something they want to watch, I don't think that you should be worried about what stream your run is on, but instead make sure your run is the best watching experience you can offer. People will most likely be jumping between the streams anyway to catch certain runs, or to see what else is on if there's something they don't enjoy so much on one of the streams, and thinking that your run won't get the viewership it "deserves" shouldn't factor into it at all. Instead, you should strive to make the most of the spot you have available.
Hmmm, this actually brings up a decent point. I think that the moderation should be left to the ZSR people so that they can actually have leaderboards mirrored with ZSR. However, although lot of games currently are mirrored from ZSR, skyward sword still hasn't been filled out at all. Is there anyone chasing up on this, or is it just being left for dead for now? I'd really like to see it all come across properly
Would it be possible to move my Ty run so that it isn't right before the FFCC co-op run?
Having the 2 runs back-to-back is not going to work out so well for me at least, and we'd like to be able to do last minute practice and setup for our co-op.
Just as a note, I checked out the rules for the HP3 categories, and they actually aren't the same. In Any% and 100%, it says timing stops when you close the Completed requirements list, whereas better any% just says to close it. I assume this means that completing the requirements list isn't an interesting part of the run, so Better any% is defined in that way (and iirc, it doesn't count the game as finished unless you complete that list). I do however agree that it could be clearer.
Looking at the link I don't see an inherent problem with it, except for the ca. region at the start, have you tried removing that from the URL and seeing if it embeds?
Actually let me try that here.
http:// t witch.tv/murmilio/v/5443876 works, I guess region codes break the parser (no spaces obviously, split it so it won't embed again)
The estimate for Final Fantasy XIII can be lowered to 5:40. The run shouldn't go any longer than 5:30, but just in case really terrible marathon luck happens, I'd like to keep it there. It also allows for a couple of donation incentive ideas I have to be done both during and after the run. (On a side note, will there be a thread for that kind of thing going up at any point? Or should we contact you guys directly with those ideas?)
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger can stay at 2:40, similar kind of thing as FF13, Run shouldn't run over 2:30 but it still allows for an incentive, and also the tricks can have a chance to troll me pretty hard sometimes.
Guilty Gear XX ACPR is getting a PC release in a couple of days, so maybe we could get a couple of setups going for that also? I doubt there's going to be a lack of PCs at the event, and it opens up the controllers that can be used for it.
Ahhh ok I misread your post, my bad. I don't have a 360 that I can bring, so I'm not really much help in that case :L
Damn, it would definitely be very cool to try out KSM on a proper controller, Keyboard really isn't a great way to experience it >_>
As for 360, I'll be bringing at least one wireless controller, so I'll be fine letting you borrow one to set up rock band (if I bring a second you can keep one with the 360 all week, although I'm sure I won't be the only one bringing a 360 controller lol)
I also agree with MK8, not sure If I'm going to bring my Wii u at all though, although there should be at least one at the venue, whether or not we can use it is obviously a different matter. Shame you can't do LAN races with the game though, else we could co-ordinate a few people and get some cool stuff going.
I assume there will be melee, since there is always some fighting games, but I can also bring a smash 4 disc if people are interested in doing some of that (8 player team battles are really super fun), and again if there's interest I can probably bring my Wii u for it.
Honestly this sounds like it could be pretty fun, and since it's PC it's something I could actually play instead of all the console fighting games, so I'm interested for sure.
Could you maybe send me a build also anyway just because this looks pretty hilarious to mess around with :D
Pretty stacked list overall, looking forward to the event. Great job guys!
I'll reconsider my estimates in a week or so, after my exams are over and I've done a couple of runs, and then update any as needed, should be before the 25th for sure.
Perhaps changing the box art to the logo image () To match other games in the series, and also to remove the specific PS3 bias the image has currently?
I guess it's worth mentioning that a new route was discovered for Final Fantasy XIII, and I've started running and practicing with that. While I can't do any full runs until after the 21st, I will definitely be able to get down to the same time or lower with the newer route, and in some ways the new route is more interesting to watch overall (less density of menus, using snow instead of fang, and quite a few late game fights are faster than the old route). The estimate can stay at 5:40, which still allows for a couple of possible incentives if I can think of some interesting things to show off.
