Nestopia has the least input lag for me, and I believe that is because it is less demanding for the computer. FCEUX is more demanding I think I remember someone saying so that is how you could feel it has more input lag. So to reduce input lag you can get the least demanding emulator or upgrade your computer. Fun fact: At the beginning of my smb1 grinding I used FCEUX for a while, but when I switched to Nestopia something like less than 10 days I got my first PB of 4:59 Keepo
You'd be lucky to have your runs verified that fast, the longest it should take to have your run verified is 1 month I'd say it's worth making a post or talking about your run if it hasn't been verified for more than a month. Edit: Like zsjetu9 said, it's probably better and more effective to let individual mods know yourself. Less dramatic but hey drama is exciting so make your choice OpieOP
Alright, I've created this excel spreadsheet that goes all the way from "perfect" play (4:58 pace) to 5:10 pace (assuming you play 8-4 in 49 seconds Keepo ) entering 8-3 for anyone going for those times so that 8-3 is no longer a variable https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/176vBl4CfYWgvLOwR5-X9wh1PP3WpMsjRc8VMNl3PQ0E/edit?usp=sharing If anyone has anything to say about how it could be better understood or just better in general please do not hesitate to let me know in this forum or whisper me on Twitch
@youtubeman06 could very much very well use this
Ok so tavenwebb is kind of a really good smb1 player. Crazy to see that now he's probably going to be the next to WR
Ooh, I like this method Confirmed it works, not just for 1 frame setup, but also for backward walljump (you can even get the fastest 8-5 to 8-4 SeemsGood ) Will be sure to do this in my next PB (so long as I remember to pracc this boi)
My feeling on this is that it would be harder to just get the clip than to just do the 2 frame walljump
My 4:58.908 run didn't have a reset to title screen tho Keepo
Same kind of thing as the 7-2 FPG setup, except you have to hold down or release right for a longer amount of time. I'm not exactly sure long and not sure how to figure that out, but I'll tell you that if you were to do no manipulation throughout the level and try to jump for FPG, you will get E10. You want D70.
In this situation I like to do a full jump just as I'm passing the last blocc above my head to land in the right place You will get D90 without any manipulation, just holding right and B throughout the whole level, and you have to release right (or press down+right) for 2 frames on the ground to get D70
wut in d world how is dis possible? I thought clicking start as early as possible on the title screen was disadvantageous
There's actually a huge difference, and it's only on Bizhawk that this is happening, and not Snes9x I was just going back to doing the inputs I normally would, and remember that on Bizhawk I had to press the buttons really slowly to get the same result, in Snes9x I pressed the buttons faster and the clip was kind of slow, meaning I could do the clip inputs even faster than I already was.
This subtle difference completely screwed me up and I had to fix my muscle memory to adjust to this difference The difference is compared to when I was playing on Snes9x before (left) and when I was playing on Bizhawk on my normal most common to play on computer (right) The gameplay on the left is the one that I'm used to, I ain't understand this thing
Wait a minute... You're telling me that you performed this trick once after 10 hours of grinding without actually knowing how to do it? In that case that's amazing really
Like Darpey said, FPG is not really a necessary trick to add until you're going for a low 457, but if you want to practice it then practice it. I also found that grinding something as hard as FPG really requires you to use your brain power and really engages you as you constantly have mistakes to fix. My tips are: Watch the video to get the road map of what you generally want to do. From there, pull up your game and press the buttons the way you think it should be done. Use the feedback you get from your attempts to improve your next attempt. Did you jump early? Late? Press left too much? etc. The first time I started doing this trick in runs, I was 1% consistent, and this was after probably around 10+ hours, I don't exactly remember. Though a couple days later I was more like 2-5% kind of thing. FPG is my most practiced trick, I have grinded it for months and for many hours to get more consistent, and I have found that when I have tried to learn other hard tricks, it was much much easier because I had learned how to practice hard tricks and improve and actually practice.
wait just adjust from your mistakes in practice, and you will get consistent.
I highly doubt that, because I'd have to mess up the cutscenes on every single run that I did. I copied the WR splits on my livesplit and I always consistently lose a tenth of a second each level I beat over the WR when I play on Snes9x
Confirmed that Bizhawk does work good, I don't consistently lose time over WR as the run goes on
If you play on keyboard or something, then just work on pressing A for as little time as possible, that is kinda what I tried to do because I never slowed down for those jumps and I won't be able to start now because now I do 1-2g. ye just practice pressing jump as fast as possible or do what jlf43 suggested if you're on controller
EDIT: jesus I didn't realize that jlf43 was the one who made this thread Keepo
Wait does VirtualDub cost money or can I get it for free? I kinda want to be able to retime my meme runs If VirtualDub is free, will you need a video of your run or something in order to retime it? Can I get the video by downloading it from Twitch or YouTube or something?
If you do the HappyLee method clip, you can save another framerule without fast accel. If you use the 2 bump method but the really fast variation (executing at absolute perfection) you can get 8-F and then you will need double fast accels to save the framerule
