Hey there I was wondering if you had submissions with different controllers and what you do with them.
I beat SMB1 and Ninja Gaiden on U-Force and the two board went opposite ways. Ninja Gaiden already has a Powerglove% category, along with a Advantage one so they made a U-Force category. Simple as that. SMB1 asked to submit normally as a regular any% run. It's now my official SMB time.
My next project is SMB3, it's going pretty well for now. So how would the mod team rule on a U-Force% run?
Cheers!
Hey there!
After a couple days of tries, I finished SMB run playing with the U-Force controller. I retimed it with Somewes frame counter to a 9:55.17
The U-Force isn't that bad with SMB, but it gets hard on world 8 of course. If you have one tucked away in your closet, give it a try!
*Edit to show the run
Should I submit to another category? Thanks!
I guess there always the "film your TV screen" way but the simplest one is to get yourself a capture card like the Elgato HD60S (this is what I use for my Switch) and record through OBS.
Would damageless/pacifist categories be interesting or is the game too "easy" to warrant its own categories?
There's a couple damage boosts you'd need to change in the strats. Same thing for pacifist.
I might try anyway for fun Cheers
Great news, I'll have to take a look at these runs!
My take on the 2 runs with "no one" could stay where they are since the controller is not used. Maybe add a description to explain what is happening. It kinda belong in this category as "history" of 2 players runs.
Doesn't it make it more barren than clean to have only one category? I can understand when games have 20 categories plus a misc section plus another page but this is not the case here I think. Looking at other NES Disney games, they have a couple categories : 100%, Pacifist and Damageless being popular (maybe even low%).
With a couple runners talking about playing the game in May there seems to be a bit of hype around the game so the leaderboards for these categories probably won't be for only 1 runner.
My 2 cents :) Cheers
Since shooting 2 bubbles takes time, any% might be best to do "almost pacifist".
For pacifist, you'd have to make every hit on bosses count because if you miss, you kill an enemy for nothing. Also, you can't have a bubble hit another fish so you'd have to also watch out on boss fight. Sounds like a fun little challenge.
Just tried a quick "wet%" run. Forgot to record on a 1:30.42 run and did a 1:32.35. It's highly dependent on RNG but I guess we could get an optimized Marv movement. Still fun!
Is it possible to do a movie%, you'd need to get the same traps from the movie as quickly as possible :P
Curious to see what a 100% run would entail. Could it also be only the "upgrades" for Ariel so full powered bubble and range?
Now you made me think about Low% and pacifist run!
Something like a "stuck%" ? You're last split is when the second Wet Bandit gets stuck in the wall? It would be highly dependent on Marv's RNG but could be a Misc. category I guess. I'm actually curious to try a couple times.
