By the way it's easy to learn to quickly tap on fov0 fire fov0 fov0 (piano style), to have the same result. When on zoom the sniper is difficult for the aiming of moving targets, so it's good to bypass the zoom this way. You can bind fov0 to a second button via the menu (yes, this is legit) to make it even easier.

The skip involves a jump on one delta's head. It would be good to get rid of that and find a safer way to pass, or to learn how to manipulate the squad better.

The end of Savig Ammo is blocked by crates, and it's possible to get over it once landed on the bomb spot block. But it's to high to get onto it directly. Maybe commanding a clone to pose the bomb could be a way to provide against the lack of heigh.

Or jumping on a trando ?

I tell you about it, but I'm pretty sure it can't work. In The Final Strike, there are slanted beams aside the walls of each 4 great rooms. Caulk makes it unclimbable, but passed a certain heigh you can progress on it. So the dissiculty is to reach the spot where you can walk on the caulk.

In the first room, we "may" succeed, for the path seem clear. But unfortunately I can't perform the skip. I guess Delta 38's jump is too low. Frustating, really...

In the 3rd room you can actually do this, by jumping on cylinders from the turret balcony. But it helps not, the last turret is surrounded by a kill zone. (But you can join 07 just before the end of the game)

it's not that hard to make, but I can't figure a 100% chance method, and it will waste your time if you fall repeatedly

Yeah sure, do this. For my run I took the time to re-record everything, and it appears that the Ghost Ship hasn't changed that much. Doing the level separately would be more readable and accessible for both the spectator and runner.

You did it ? so you experienced how hard it is to catch him. There is no reason for something to happen as his appearance as for sole meaning to escape, for the door to close upon him, for the droids to turn visible, and for the next trigger to unlock (the one that spawns 1 SBD near the elevator, and some droids, when you pass the first door). So if you block Sun Fac, well, you just block Sun Fac, avoiding the events I listed, but nothing forbids you to breach the second door

It's hard, but it's possible !

As previously, jump on the window without facing it, then on the first segment of barricade. A as far as possible on the end of the platform (using "walk" to fall not), step back a little milimeter, jump, go left to roung the caulkwall, then forward to get the next platform. Done ! It didn't think about it before, but the windows are still open, and you can pass through it to end in the final room. You have to trigger the Tarfful and guards animation before, but it's a way to bypass the 20 sec bomb. So this skip isn't small anymore ! Run fast, the door will close if you don't reach it fast enough, and you can't breach it from this side.

I managed to get the squad on the other side of the door. The door closes upon Sun Fac crossing it. But Sun Fac is solid. That means you can block him. I won't lie it's very hard to do so, because his path finding is overall good. You have to block him between your hitbox and the wall. When it's done, the squad can pass. Take note that the second pack of droids and SBD don't spawn, as we are far enough from the door. We can now breach cool.

But :

  • Catching Sun Fac is HARD
  • the setup is way too long !

As a conclusion, the door breach being the condition to finish the level, it is obvious that you need the whole squad there asap. So the better strat is to play the casual way, and break the glass panel first. Even if we could avoid some droids, and skip the door - closed for a few seconds - it balances not in the end. So the grapple glitch has unfortunately no usefulness there.

This is a way to avoid the bomb planting in The Bodyguards level. You can actually jump over the barricades, as the caulk wall is not very high on some parts. To proceed, jump on the ledge of the window, but don't look through it. I'm therefore facing the opposite way. From there, I can get on the barricade, but there the caulk wall is to high. I didn't succeed to jump from there to the near spot where the barricade can be crossed, so my solution is to use my squad (it's not like every day...). I bounce on the head of a clone, and reach the aimed spot.

I can now defeat the bodyguards alone, and surprise ! Grevious is still here !

This trick is difficult because :

  • there are enemies nearby
  • the jump is tricky
  • the clones ain't necessary on the right spot
  • Tarfful may die

And it's only a ten seconds gain. But if someone succeeds to do it without the clones, that would become interesting.

oh ok ; you don't have to press walk to do this. Each time you have to plant a bomb, slice a console, heal etc... the game will try to change your position to have your character exacly on the bomb/slice/bacta spot. When do this while jumping the game does the same, but with the 'get him closer' speed, instead of the 'jump' speed, that's why you seem to freeze in the air. By pressing walk it seems to slow the falling speed even more does it ?

"fov 0" and "fire" are both bindalbe via the menu, but you can't bind them to the same key in the way I did. So I understand we won't use the "fov 0 | fire | onrelease stopfire | fov 0 " technique. OK

That's also my point but if you actually use "fov 0 | fire | onrelease stopfire | fov 0" it appears on screen just like you use your weapon normally, but it deals 1.75x damage. Noscope style. While I agree on the principle to bind what you want, the technique looks like a game abuse, because you are not supposed to noscope enemies. So we should all agree or reject this one trick.

When training for the run or searching glitches, OOBs, etc... the console commands are often useful and make good tools to work with. But to which extend those "tools" can be applied to a run ?

I believe that two things can be considered cheating a be prohibited :

  • using cheats (of course)
  • modifying the internal properties of the game via other commands or file corruption.

I'm going to talk about the sniper rifle. It has a strong damage modifier on the zoom, so we better zoom at every shot for a maximum efficiency. But it bothers me a lot that the sniper has a double zoom, it makes it harder to de-zoom in urgent situations (like an elite dodging and leaving off the lens)

Therefore, I allowed myself to change the key bindings a little bit. I have two "zoom" button :

  • on "shift" (I usualy fire with "shift") : fov 0 | fire | onrelease stopfire | fov 0
  • on "middlemouse" : fov 0

so that when I fire a weapon it zooms and dezooms automatically to benefit the damage modifier. I need the second button for the sniper, that won't de-zoom but will go to zoom x20. By pressing quicky the middle mouse it goes back to normal.

Considering I only changed the bindings, that wouldn't be considered has cheating imo. Still, you can't do it via the game menu and have to use the command, so it may be considered cheating then. So ?

To this extend, why not deactivate the double zoom with "set dc17msniper numzoomfovs 2". It would solve the problem and simplify the playthrough, but would be considered cheating.

Are any of these techniques ok ?

This is another way to skip Aim For The Heart. Compared to the old route, it's quicker by 15 or 20 sec. But it's a very dangerous path, with black screens everywhere, tricky jumps, and many ways to get stucked in gaps between high gradients and scenery. For an hypothetical live run I recommend not to use it, because a fail would be painfully punishing.

If you want not to fall, press "walk". It will block you at the edge of the surface to prevent the fall. It works on this rock like anywhere else in the game

On Strength Of Brothers, the fact that the droids and SBD are invisble but already loaded means that through casual play, you can throw a shock grenade before the door closes on Sun Fac to weakens them. It can save a few seconds
