I tested on PSP-1000 PSN and UMD both european version. the one time I didn't crash on blow up dolls was on PSN. I haven't tested on my PSTV yet.
what BubbleBobbler meant is that you could save 15s by doing both Big Smoke and Firefighter in the same segment, each attempts would take 3 more minutes to do and could be harder / more paintful to grind but 15s my be worth grinding a longer segment
Also do you have a route documents that you could share with people so they can give you feedback on your route and maybe new idea ?
First of all I had a lot of fun at ESA and will try everything possible to go next year. I'm not going to give feedback about what went good since you probably already know that.

Mass Housing Like everyone else said the gym was way too far from the venue, BUT I'd rather have a bad mass housing option than no option at all. I wouldn't have been able to afford coming to ESA if i needed to book a hotel room.

No breakfast nor communal meals Last year there were free breakfast available every morning from 7 to 11 for all attendees and low-cost communal meals made by attendees for people who signed up for it (people go buy food for X people based on signups, then the cost is split between people and the one cooking eat for free). Both this options were awesome and none of them were available this year, this made me spend so much more money on food. Also last year there were scheduled kitchen duty where one person took care of cleaning glasses and get breakfast ready. This would really help with keeping the kitchen clean. (most people leave a mess because it's already quite messy, but I don't really since I haven't step a feet in that kitchen this year)

Streaming area/Audio The streaming area was way too loud, and people just couldn't hear the runner speaking, this was less of an issue at night when the room was empty. There were people playing fighting games (with the speaker at kinda high volume) less than 3 meters from the PC on the yellow stream and THEY WERE VISIBLE ON THE STREAM, this shouldn't happen. In my opinion there shouldn't have been TVs this close to the streams, especially when rooms like balder (the one on the left at the entrance) or freja (the mafia room) were mostly under used. Also people need to learn to turn off their console/tv when they're not playing or at least mute the tv. I remember watching a Vice City run on the yellow stream (100% or Bingo) and hearing on loop the smash character select screen music for maybe 1h which is annoying when it's louder than runners commentary and run audio. Having 2 stream right next to each other was akward but I'm convinced it could have worked with less external noise

Open blocks It seems to me that open blocks this year were way too long and quite unorganized. My guess is that they were longer than planned because of last minute dropouts but maybe the schedule crew should have added back previously cut runs or reopen submissions to people coming to the event in the weeks before the event to fill so schedule time. (this was done like that last year). Shorter open blocks (2h twice a day IIRC) worked nicely last year, but this year it felt like "Do whatever you want" aka Crash Bash 201% for 9h or so

No console races on the Yellow stream People from the FF community wanted to race FF3 on the open block then later were told it wasn't possible to do console race on the yellow stream, I seemed like tech didn't know it wasn't possible until the looked into it. (2 TVs were on the table for the start and the race was accepted at first), I think this problem was solved later for the Mario Galaxy race (but took like 3h of setup or something) I know nothing about tech, and don't want to blame anyone, but 2 players console race should be able to happen on both streams, what's the point of having fancy matrixes if you can't have races ?

Random stuff Air mattress weren't given out by staff of the first evening so people just started getting them from the room they were stocked (some people who paid for them but also some people who didn't) then i heard than a few days later people who paid for an air mattress couldn't get one. We were supposed to be able to stay at the venue until 12 on the last day but on the last evening it was announced than we should leave before 8AM, which meant i only get to sleep 1h and had to wait 4h at the train station. in the end it doesn't really matter but this is the kind of thing that should be announce at least several days prior. What if someone wasn't at the venue when it was announced then got back to the venue at like 10AM to pick-up his stuff, half of it would have been thrown away as junk and and the other half in a lost & found box in a storage unit somewhere.
Finally, to people complaining chairs and the "heat":
- regarding chairs, they weren't the best chairs in the world but they weren't the worst either, i don't think you can expect more from any venue with hundreds of chairs, also any chairs get uncomfortable after a few hours unless very expensive once. Maybe so better chairs could be given to PC runners who don't get to sit in a sofa and have long runs.
- regarding the "heat", this year ESA was nowhere as hot as last year, IMO the weather was fine and the venue wasn't overcrowded and ventilated enough. This is July it's supposed to be hot and sunny. Also if the event was held anywhere but Scandinavia it would have be like 5 to 10°C hotter during the whole week.
try to delete (or just move) your gta_vc.set
Final Fantasy Any% estimate can be reduced to 10 minutes
what about merging the 3 categories and add "taxi" and "mission fail skip" (or classic rules) variables, this way there won't be duplicates and you could still filter the runs on the IL page.
Also I think the spirit of ILs is to only submit WRs (best run with video) or runs with interesting alternative strategies that may be useful or not in full game runs
and finally I don't really agree with the wording of rule A&B, "would have been clearly faster" may be hard to judge in some case (at how many second does it become "clearly faster"), I think a runner should be allowed to use any kind of strat. example: - should a runner grind an ILs a thousand times to get a perfect taxi spawn to save only 5s ? - Yes
- should his ILs be denied ? - No, as long as it was properly routed and executed for this category
A wording i'd like is "runs not properly routed and/or executed may be denied at the sole discretion of the leaderboard moderators"
PS: I don't run the game so feel free to disregard everything i said
zoton's converter gives you a 1:1 copy of the japanese version folder with the no-cd exe
if you don't want to use replays you can run the PS2 version, a really good run should end up close to the 1:10 mark or maybe even 1:05 (you can watch overcooler's run for reference) As for learning strats (for PC) you can watch mhmd tutorial and ractrot's pb (that the only completed pb with the current strat). if there's part you don't understand then don't hesitate to ask specific questions here, or on some runner twitch chat during their stream, most of them(or someone in chat) will clarify stuff
I linked it already to melis on irc, but I found that swedish news article talking about the event http://www.skovdenyheter.se/artikel/339500/europas-basta-spelare-spelar-for-valgorenhet that kind of article proves ESA is a real thing and that foreign people attend, and might help with her application. If any swedes around here knows about other (preferably swedish) news articles about ESA (this year or the previous edition) they should link them here.
I'd like to volunteer for tech, but I'm not sure I wanna sign up for three 8h shifts
As I said in the past, All Missions would make more sense if the definition was everything with a "mission passed" screen (current definition + Boatyard + 4 offroad missions + dirt ring + shooting range (30 points) + pizza boy - Distribution) But it'll still be arbitrary and the current definition is grandfathered by now.
When does mass housing close? Mass housing at Kavelbro closes on July 8th at noon.
is that a typo ? cause ESA is supposed to end on the 7th at noon
Also, how many showers will there be ?
still no news on mass housing ?
there's already a flip a tank goal and no replay
Tankflipper , Flip a tank so it explodes

No Replays , Don't use replays whatsoever. Not even F1 replays.
I like the special Pole Position dance as a goal but it's too similar to
Pole Position , Finish 'Lap Dance'
maybe it should replace it ?
"Fly Mercedes to the Pole Position" requires to use a glitch to get a helicopter and it was decided all goal should be possible glitchless to keep it casual-runners friendly
I see someone added
Mini Super SSA , Bring every reward car from SSA to the lighthouse
if "every reward car" is SSA reward + zebra cab + stadium reward + love fist + packages reward, I think it's way too long to be a single objective
I also like
BrawnOfTheDead2, Complete Shakedown using only a Katana
but I agree than it might not be possible within the timelimit and glitching the time isn't casual-runners friendly
no, just should submit as another run. the faster run will obsolete the old one
from what gathered from that TS discussion on dekap stream, the smart solution will be to NOT remove runs, but add a DLC/noDLC variable to classic%
we are just tired of the RE mods ruining the RE4 board constantly
I know nothing about RE speedruns but wouldn't giving members of the RE4 community (the ones managing that google docs leaderboards) moderation right over RE4 and untick "Series moderators have power here" be a solution ? Unless RE4 people really don't want to be on speedrun.com and there shouldn't a leaderboard on the site
new Final Fantasy (Famicom) PB, 7:21 Leaderboard: http://finalfantasyspeedruns.wikidot.com/wiki:final-fantasy
I'm not sure if I should post this year, but the game I mod (Final Fantasy III) would benefit from having the option to select the specific console model (Famicom, New Famicom AV, Sharp Twin Famicom, NES or NES Top Loader), the RNG being different therefore routing will be different. This isn't an urgent matter since so far everyone who did runs did them on New Famicom AV or on a emulator that give the same RNG as the New Famicom AV. I know this could be also useful for several PS1 games played on PS2 which loading times are model dependent.
Having the option to let the runner give the name of his emulator would be useful as well.
Any% (Japanese ruleset) differs from (Western ruleset) because it can use pre-run encounter manipulation due to the timing method, it also uses a different credits warp setup that is longer than the one we use but allows to skip the cutscene before the credits trigger to get to The End sooner. (cheap's run has a faster Power ON to The End equivalent than Luzbelheim's run)
