ESA 2017 is a speedrunning centred community meetup and marathon. The doors are open from **Friday the 21st of July until Sunday the 30th of July at 11:59pm** The stream is planned to run from the evening of the 22nd of July the evening of the 29th of July. Mass Housing with cover this entire period and close on Monday the 31st at 10am.

What you need to know about registration. 

If you attend ESA, you do not need purchase an attendance ticket for Azension II. It's included in the full ESA 17 ticket.
You do however still need to register for specific tournaments at https://smash.gg/tournament/azension-ii/details

If you do not attend ESA, you need to register and purchase an attendance ticket through Smash.gg in order to attend the Smash event

**Dreamhack Winter Thursday 24 November 2016 -  Sunday 27 November 2016**[/centre]
Speedrunning is returning to Dreamhack Winter in 2016! This event will be treated as a full ESA main event, meaning amazing games, hosting and donations. This marathon will be a hybrid live/online event with the opportunity for live runners to take part in races with online opponents and with scheduled online-only blocks to allow the speedrun attendees to experience the rest of Dreamhack to it's fullest!

**Submissions**
Submissions are being taken via the speedrun.com submission form. There is no hard deadline for submission but we request you respect a soft deadline of **24 October**, a month before the event. Late submissions may be accepted, but we'll be in the process of making a schedule.

Runs/races can be submitted up to 2 live players.

As with previous Dreamhack Speedrun marathons, we can cover your entry and mass housing costs if you are prepared to take full part in our event. Do not book a general admission ticket!

**Accomodation arrangements**
Plan to arrive as early as possible on Thursday 24 November. The stream will start in the afternoon on this day. 
Stream ends at latest on 12 pm Saturday 26. Everyone must be out of the building by 10 am Sunday 27th November. There is no activity on this day (Sunday), only packing and cleaning. 

Mass housing will be available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. If you need to arrive early or depart late you must book a hotel in or around Jonkoping. You should bring your own sleeping equipment, an airbed, pillow and sleeping bag are reccomended. Limited airbeds might be available to borrow by prior arrangement and on request.

**Volunteers**
We will need some volunteers to help run the online portion of the event. See Edenal for details :)

Planes: 
Best Choice: Fly to Gothenburg Landvetter and then take a **direct coach** (see Swebus below). 
Second choice: Fly to Copenhagen Kastrup and then book a train to Jonkoping Centrum.

Trains: 
Jonkoping is one change from Gothenburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen, [SJ.se](https://www.sj.se/start/startpage/index.form?l=en) has prices and timetables.. Upon arriving at Jonkoping Centrum you should go up the escalator, cross the footbridge to the main square and take [local bus 1](http://www.jlt.se/resande/linjer/l1) to Elmia (cash accepted). Alternatively, a taxi from the station is about €10.

The result of this week’s discussion is that we have chosen to confirm that there will not be a second stream this year. This decision is final, from here on out we will all focus on making the main as good as it possibly can be. This will mean four player races are back, hosting is going to be focused as one team on one stream and tech can learn the setup to a good standard. In directing all of our efforts to one place, we also are going to be able bring our charity engagement to a new level.

Open from Fri 21 July to Monday the 31st at 10am. This is an unheated gym hall in the building opposite Fortnox Arena. You should bring an air mat, camping mattress or camping bed. You should also bring a sleeping bag suitable for indoor camping.

Announcing the details of *ESA at Dreamhack Summer 2017*!

After some time confirming details, we're now able to reveal the details of the ESA marathon happening at Dreamhack Summer 2017 **Keynote**. We were very happy with how Dreamhack Winter 2016 went and strive to continue on that path.

**Keynote**
During DreamHack Summer 2017 part of the DreamHack Speedrunning crew will hold a keynote in the Fan Zone located in the Fan Zone in Lobby Syd. The keynote will cover the basics of speedrunning like history, tips and tricks and also some demonstration of some of the glitches in some of the popular games. 
The speedrunning keynote will be at the Lobby Syd Fan Zone on Sunday 17:00 CEST.

**Mainstage showcase**
During Dreamhack Summer 2017, we will have the opportunity to show speedrunning on the main stage. The sessions are limited to 1 hour and we will have one or two sessions during the event. 

After submissions appropriate games will be decided after talking with the runners. 

**Submissions**
Deadline for submissions are May 1st. 

**Daily Blocks**
Depending on the submissions we will strive to go back to themed days. Viewer count was steady throughout the last event, indifferent to the theme of the day. Themed days works well with the groups who usually attend the Dreamhack speedrunning events and we see no reason not the stay on that course. 

From 5am to 2pm the live stream will stop and show a time-shifted re-run of the previous day’s runs, without the setup time. This is primarily to make sure everyone is well rested and fresh, but it also means our friends in Eastern time zones can see as much of the the same content ‘as live’ as possible.

**Location**
This time we are going to be back in the old spot in Hall C, but bigger. If you were there during Dreamhack Summer 2016, you know what to expect. The viewing area with a projector will be facing out into the hall, allowing more spectators to view the stream.

Volunteering this year has changed slightly from previous years. Tasks like cleaning, check-in and opening the locked front entrance during the nights will be outsourced to local sports teams. We’re only going to have volunteers for the stream and we’re looking to consolidate the teams into two sub groups, the tech crew and the interaction crew.

The roles of the tech crew will stay the same. Responsibilities includes running XSplit, keeping track of local recordings, managing SpeedControl, setting up consoles and PCs and keeping the online schedule updated.

Tech station will have a handful of gaming stations, where tech can relax during downtimes. If there are spare PCs, two will be placed here.

The interaction crew is a related to the hosts from previous years but include a wider range of responsibilities and tasks. This the area which will receive the biggest boost and upgrades to give you the means to carry out the tasks. Responsibilities are preparing the runners and commentators before the run, updating Twitter and social media, donation reading and filtering, entertaining from the hosting station during and between runs, interviewing attendees between runs and upload the local recording to YouTube.

The interaction station will be decorated as a living room with a large comfy sofa, 6+ microphones, dedicated laptops/desktops for notes.

The feedback from last year was mainly that the shifts were too long. With enough volunteers we are confident that the shifts can be much much shorter this year, and with only one stream to run much less intense. We’re hoping shifts end up at 2-4 hours. 

Volunteers who ends up taking multiple and/or long graveyard shifts will be given perks. As in complementary food and drinks. An area where you can rest if needed. 

Volunteers will also be able to request shifts after the schedule is released. 

For each shift we’re looking to have at least 2 tech and 3 interaction members. But there’s no hard limit.

Växjö lies on the railway line from Gothenburg and Copenhagen to Kalmar. Travellers from Stockholm will have to make one brief change in Alvesta.

International travellers should book a flight to Copenhagen (Kastrup) Airport. It is now more commonly known by the city name, but you should be aware of the old name in case some booking systems show it.

The Øresundståg trains to Växjö run directly from the airport train station. Tickets cost 310DKK each way, and are bookable online at SJ.se. An Øresundståg ticket is valid for any train 3 hours before or after the stated time, and no re-booking is required. 

Växjö Småland airport has a limited number of routes, but particularly the flights from Weeze and Prague may be convenient for you. [Their website has details](http://smalandairport.se/hitta-din-resa/vara-destinationer/). A direct bus runs from the airport to the venue, and takes 20 minutes.

**Is my ticket refundable?**
Tickets are fully refundable in cases of new medical conditions, illness in the family or under special circumstances like flights being canceled due to the airliner declaring bankruptcy. If you have such a problem, please contact us personally. 
Otherwise, no.

**Can I still get mass housing if I've already purchased a ticket?**
Yes. But we'll need to make all of those arrangements outside of Biljettkiosken.
Transfer the payment to paypal AT europeanspeedsterassembly DOT com. Make sure to send the payment as gift, in SEK currency and include your nickname + booking ID you made the payment to Biljettkiosken.

**Can I get still a T-shirt if I miss the deadline?**
Unfortunately no. We are determining the amount of shirts to order based on the number of registrations. 

**How are the costs of the t-shirts factoring into our entry fee? Are we paying more because of them?**
No, it doesn't impact the attendance fee. We set aside a certain amount of the overall budget which is meant to increase the attendee experience, and that's partially how we're spending that portion this year.

**What's on a personalised lanyard?**
The nickname you've submitted when purchasing the ticket and the photo you've submitted through the link in the confirmation email.

**Photo requirements?**

If you submit a photo of someone else, you will not receive the lanyard. If you submit a photo of something else, you will not receive the lanyard.~~

**Can I still get an air mattress for mass housing if I miss the deadline?**
Unfortunately, no. We need at least one week to order all the air mattresses from our supplier. However, we can point you to a store within walking distance where you can purchase one if you miss the deadline.

**[big][center]General information[/center][/big]**
In order to improve ESA2016, we want to start working early. However, with the bank account being totally dry and private parties pitching in money each month to keep the event afloat we’ve decided to ask the community for help. 

During the time period of January 29th to 31st we want to organise an online marathon to benefit ESA. We’re hoping to raise a modest 1000€, which will cover the rent for the storage unit until ESA2016 and materials to construct four new and improved streaming stations. Any surplus funds raised will go into a fund to improve the on-site experience for ESA2016. 

The 4 streaming stations will be built and assembled live on a pirate stream during the online marathon. We feel that it’s important that we show how they money is being spent. The streaming stations are compact, stackable and movable tables with room for A/V equipment, designed to be used as base for CRT / LCD monitors, much like a 90's TV bench. The low total height of the units are very important as they allow us to position the camera above the monitor while being at eye level with the couch so we can get back to the intimate feeling of early marathons.
