Ayy, good work and good luck with the final tasks!

I was hoping the runs were stored somewhere. Anyway I re-submitted my big run, but there was no way to pick smaller details like "Year 1 Events" or patch version etc.

But I guess that's how it is when the entire system is remade from scratch.

There is no point for level specific runs. All the leaderboards for each event are available here, no point cluttering speedrun.com with it - https://www.thecrew-hub.com/leaderboards/event

Where were the backups stored?

EstoniaDryminator2 years ago

If you click on any of the runs in "Recent runs", you get an error.

EstoniaDryminator2 years ago

Well... Now comes the hard part. You can see that there are recent runs and stats show that there are 85 runs total. You need to make them visible somehow, otherwise this change was counterproductive as literally everybody's hard work has been wiped from existence.

But I would say Alpacachino and TAWEC should also comment here if they are fine with this setup, as I am not really speedrunning this game anymore.

Does it matter really? If it is old patch, it is old patch, all runs would be in the same package. And any new runs would be done on the latest patch anyway cause players do not have access to older patches.

For legacy reasons you should keep old patches around, so they can be checked in Livesplit settings or configured when submitting a run, but in terms of leaderboards it should not matter as all runs done on previous patches are under the same category anyway.

Keeping all the runs segregated and away from each other just causes a speedrun community split where you have to go through each patch view to see who has what time.

EstoniaDryminator2 years ago

I think you should just keep two options around. Runs submitted on current patch and runs submitted on previous patches. The Crew 2 does not allow downpatching anyway as it is always online and there is no way to play the game offline. And it is getting updated every 4 months (new patch), so no point keeping it complex. Just update the categories by moving speedruns to old patch section every 4 months.

Also, there is no point keeping categories for each specific race. Game has built-in leaderboards for each race and activity and those leaderboards are also accessible on https://www.thecrew-hub.com/leaderboards/event . Just keep categories for event bundles (disciplines, families, motorflix etc).

Good luck reviewing 11 hours of events when that happens :)

EstoniaDryminator2 years ago

Only on 3 sub-par RX cars so far.

EstoniaDryminator2 years ago

If you could kindly put my 100% 11 hour speedrun back, that would be nice. Or should I re-submit it?

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

And the calculator is live now.

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

In Game time section can be filled manually? I had no idea :D

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

Neither am I.

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

No, just use latest patch as the legitimate patch and internally call the runs made using previous patches as obsolete. We cannot do much anyway until the "final" patch is not out.

You can filter by patch on speedrun.com.

For your personal videos you can just use like "Gator Rush Patch" etc in the title if it is not visible on the video itself.

Imagine doing in-game time calculation for 100% all events category. Just imagine that. Nah, I'll use livesplit :D

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

So what, I need to manually calculate times? I have livesplit to do the job for me. Anyway rules would need to be reworked if that could be used as a feature in speedruns. Currently we are calculating load times and intermission times in as well.

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

But some events have 3 laps, so you just end in the middle of a corner or something (3 laps meaning each lap is 33%). I still want to know what is the underlying reason for this category. All I can think of why somebody would want this is that if the regular way of doing some categories feels too long, like all Hypercar races, which should IMO be an endurance category.

EstoniaDryminator5 years ago

Tried that, very hard to keep track of. Livesplit wise the easiest would be to use the pause button I think when you end a race and then start next split when you start your next race (gain control of the vehicle) that should also unpause the timer).

But yeah if rules would include the usage of pause button between events, it could also be useful for situations when the game decides to crash (quite frequent on PC).

Edit: Just tested, "next split" button after pausing just unpauses the timer, has to be pressed second time for also split change. Should not be a problem as long as the timer is unpaused at the correct time.

Summary: My suggestion - use Pause button to filter out loading times, possible crashes and everything that is not directly related to racing the event.
