@Habble Im pretty sure you can set something to timer ascending for survival mode
Hiya @Glitchedd :) Thanks for the post.
To answer, "load removing" is a broad term, and we may not be taking the most sophisticated approach to it. By that I mean, we don't have any autosplitter scripts or anything like that. We're essentially frame by frame analysing each submission, and manually removing sections we deem to be "loads", detailed in the post found in the guides section.
The board is still a little out of whack because of this, order-wise, as not all previous submissions have yet to recieve this treatment.
In the case of console merging, and emulator vs console. There has been a little amount of research done in regard to how various versions perform against others. With MKD not being the most popular game, we didn't deem the split necessary, however it's not something that couldn't be implemented in the future if further informatuon presents itself.
Hope that may clear a few things up, but please feel free to post anything else you may want to know or that may concern you.
Thanks :) -DW
Any possibilty to get an IL board set up for individual characters? I know the game isn't super popular, but would definitely be a nice addition to the board.
The current Baiken% WR isn't listed in the Any% board although it meets all of the criteria for Any%. Would it be worthwhile adding it?
What is the Extra catergory?
Thanks, DW
We are aware that trying to run Buddy Battle via emulation currently doesn't work.
If anyone finds a fix for this, please let us know. Thanks, DW.
Would you care to elaborate on this, as I'm more than welcoming to any feedback or ideas that're thrown my way?
The changes to the board are about 50% implemented. You'll notice there is no longer a console split, nor an emulator split.
The order of all the runs may be a bit out whack, as I've retimed a few of them, but am still working through them all. Please bear with me as I finish everything up :)
To-Do list:
- Load remove the rest of the runs not yet processed. (This is where the majority of the workload will come from).
- Update the rulesets across the entire board
Thanks, DW
I'm proposing today is a complete overhaul of board. I propose switching over to a load time removed based timing format across all categories, removing the need for a console split, alongside hardware vs emulator splits (which definitely can cause issues when it comes to new category editions etc). Alongside this, the addition of certain requested categories, a la, diffculty based runs, puzzle kombat, 100%s, glitchless' etc.
Could i please gather everyones thoughts on this?
I finally solved this. False input glitch is caused when you have the specified special move interrupted by getting hit during its startup frames. The game sets the flag, even though the special doesn't happen, and from that point the next attack that you throw out will be considered correct regardless of what it is, as long as it hits the opponent. If it misses, it resets. If a way was found to cancel a special move's startup frames manually, then this may be considered useful, but until then, I don't think it's beneficial.
Hi All, When we acquired this board as a moderation team, one of the 1st changes that we proposed and made was the unbanning of Shin Akuma across all categories. This decision may have been a little hasty. We are proposing the creation of a new sub-category split. One banning Shin Akuma, the other being solely Shin Akuma. Implementing this change will not affect any runs already existing that use Shin Akuma, however it'll allow for various other character strategies to come to light.
We're creating this post to gather community feedback and thoughts on the above. Feel free to post agreements, disagreements, suggestions, and thoughts below.
Thanks, The USFII Mod Team
Hello. I'm @DWednesday, and I'm here posting on behalf of the SF Speedrun community, located @ https://discord.gg/35ZDXC9tC6
Over the past few weeks, a number of concerns have been expressed in regards to @TheAndyGamingNetwork and the way he has been conducting himself as a moderator for the SF2 series. These are as follows:
-
Setting multiple WR times on his Twitch stream and then hoarding them, and not submitting them for verification, so they can be posted to the leader boards, and potentially beaten by other runners.
-
Deleting any times that are beaten by other runners, so the progression of the WR times can not be seen by all runners on the SRC boards.
-
Continuing to be the only active moderator in multiple SF2 games, despite receiving offers of help after growing concerns by the community of verification accuracy.
-
Verifying his own runs, when, ideally, another moderator should verify any times you set.
-
Adding categories, specifically 'Extra Speed' without even the most basic communication with the SF2 community.
-
Not having any contact with the wider SF2 community by not being in this discord for discussion and making all decisions entirely on his own, including not making informed decisions based on information provided by people who are in the know, despite being presented with this information multiple times.
-
Generally acting in a non community focussed way, when the SRC rules specially state moderators are to be held to a higher standard of behaviour.
I'm creating this thread to promote a healthy and open discussion between @TheAndyGamingNetwork and anyone else that may have a point of view in regard to anything mentioned.
Thank you, DW
What's the ruling regarding SNES emulators for this game?
Could you post a video of what's happening when you try?
Hello all. Due to the previous moderator not being active for a while, I found myself now as the moderator of this board.
I've brought along @Tenka, @NerdyNester, and @Habble to be my moderation team, as they're all already highly respected moderators within the Fighting Game Speedrunning community.
We've implemented a number of changes and updates already, as we didn't believe the board was being maintained to the standard it should have been.
Here is a list of the changes we have already made, or the changes we plan on making in the future:
-
Independant Level/Character Board
-
The Split of the Arcade category, into 3 sub-categories. These being Any%, Normal, World Warrior. All runs previously submitted under said category can now be found under the Any% sub-category.
-
The renaming and moving of the Arcade (Grand Master Bison) category. It can now be found as a misc. sub-category under the Arcade category, now simply named Grand Master. This was done to preserve the runs that already existed for the category.
-
Unbanning the use of emulators.
-
The addition of a Co-Op sub-category for Buddy Battle, along with 3 other sub-categories related to difficulty, similar to the Arcade category.
-
An update and general clean up of all rulesets across the board.
-
The merger of all 3 WotH catergoies into 1 main category.
-
The unbanning of Shin Akuma/Gouki across all categories. Given the current known strategies for the game, playing as Shin Akuma/Gouki offers no advantage from a speedrun point of view.
All of these changes will of course be up for revision in the future, and if anyone has any questions or concerns in regard to anything I've mentioned above, please post it as a response in this thread.
Thanks, DW
https://www.speedrun.com/survarts Request to change the games name to "Survival Arts" from "Suvival Arts". The missing R was a typo on my behalf. Apologies. Thanks in advance.
Unpopular opinion of the day: I believe that the fastest catergory (outside of memes) should be the main catergory, alongside (as long as there's no gameplay differences) the fastest port being the main one.
However, I understand that I am not the community, and only a very minor part of it. Maintaining the purity and/or legacy (hardest difficulty, hardest tower, sound on,console vs. emulator, most popular console/port, etc) of the runs across the series is what the community is in favour of, and thus I'm all for the proposed changes.
Also, IL boards are a good idea, as not only does it allow for runners to use their favourite characters, it actually allows for 4 catergories (as it'll stand) per character, which is awesome.
Also, we don't wanna end up looking like the SF2 boards... Jus' sayin' XD
2 questions: So 4 main cats for UMK3 will be: Standard, No CS, NME, and Any%?
Is "no smoking" going to be redistributed into the various IL boards, as the cat would seem kinda pointless going forward?
