Bowsers Fury doesn't count towards the Mainline Series and unless a category really makes more sense with a non-mainline game (NSLU in NSMB Series) it's not gonna be part of any on here.
@keegansimyh That would classify as playing 2 games at once because you did not finish SMG2 yet. Rule is pretty simple: when you start a game you have to finish it before you start the run of the next game in your game order.
Category has been moved officially, can be found on this now https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_YIdSOGG6EBk8UJV3LH5aQ2wQF8UtIb9RLKjWNetodc
Well I wasn't a mod at that point and Chrism still was, but I can move it to a sheet as soon as I got the time for it. I will notify Chrism about it and then we good I guess. Gonna just share that with the other admins and see what they say but I think this should 100% happen like this now.
Not mainline games, Wario Land is Wario, has nothing to do with a Super Mario game, same goes for Yoshi's Island. NSLU is just NSMBU but slightly different so not it's standalone game, which is why we don't consider it as a mainline game. It is included in NSMB Series cause the NSMB community wanted it so and it sorta makes sense I think.
It's a decision Chrism and me made because this category is kinda obsolete anyway, you were able to submit to it for a while and I actually unofficially hold WR for it, but we decided it's stupid to keep it alive if it's just Console Series without the newest game. But because we can't keep these times in the new Console Series category, we left it like this for archival purposes. It would be a shame to delete runs just because a new game is released.
Yes, I don't think this has ever been clarified but it's an official version of SM64 so it should be allowed for 70 and 120 Star in Multi Mario runs.
I had my troubles learning SMS, but thats about it I think. Took me a few months to figure out how to even play the game as I've never done it ahead of trying to learn to speedrun it cause I already decided to go all in on Multi Mario runs back then.
Also a little reminder to some people: you only end up being an asshole when you complain about grammar, instead of helping to fix it. This is not school or your workplace. Be nice to each other.
Sounds neat as an idea but the All-Stars problem is a very big problem for this idea. But thats the fault of Nintendo. As always with any category ideas: if enough people actually do runs of it, we'll make a category for it.
I personally am not a fan of Multi Mario runs with games that are not part of the mainline games, but in this run it makes sense to include them (like with NSLU in NSMB Series). You did also miss SMB2-U as part of the NES games, that game also exists. So this would be the complete game list: SMB, SMB:TLL, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SM64, SMS, SMG, NSMBU, NSLU, 3DW, BF, SMM2, SMO *Going with the US/EU names for the NES games
Just mainline games would make up the full Switch collection run like this: SMB, SMB:TLL, SMB2, SMB3, SMW, SM64, SMS, SMG, NSMBU, 3DW, SMO
Thats almost Console Series at this point as a little fun fact, just SMW is 11 Exit as Any% cause I don't think we know how to make a 0 Exit run work on that, SM64 is 70 Star as Any% cause no BLJs. And 2 games are missing aswell obviously, NSMBW and SMG2 are the missing games compared to that, which more than makes up for the 2 slower categories if we look at Any%. That means length wise this is more than doable. Even with the 3 non-mainline games (NSLU, SMM2 and BF) this is still shorter which is perfect. It just sucks that the category name itself requires everything to be run on Switch, in almost all cases the most expensive way to get the games so it gets kinda inaccessible at times.
I only focused on the run that included more than just the 3D games in terms of listing facts. The run that only has the 3D games is very very similar to already existing runs but just no SMG2 and BF for it instead.
As already stated at the start of this, if enough people do a run of this then yes sure we'll make it a thing. Maybe this will help people get interested in it. I personally just don't like BF as a speedrun so I'm not pushing for it myself, but will also run it if others do cause I want to flex with having run all categories Keepo
It's time for some Multi Mario races!
In April we will be having a month dedicated to the Sandbox Mario Any% run with 3 Community Races!
Race 1: April 9th, 11PM CEST Race 2: April 17th, 9AM CEST Race 3: April 24th, 3PM CEST
How can you sign up? Check out our Race Sheet here: http://bombch.us/DP1J On it you can find all important info for the race, together with the Sign-Up link, Multi Mario Discord link and the link to the Stats stream that will be on the 602Race channel as always!
Here is the list of what Odme, Flygon and me are currently officially organizing with Stats stream and everything: https://pastebin.com/jZQEVKq0 Plans have recently changed with us stopping to organize 1120 Races due to missing popularity, so I took the opportunity and moved race dates for 246 and Sandbox Any% races further apart from each other.
Because you might have a question or 2 when reading the pastebin, let me try to answer them already:
What does NA-friendly and so on mean? With NA-friendly, EU-friendly and so on I'm referring to the starting time, with NA-friendly being our traditional 9AM EST/EDT starting time that is being used for the 602 Races. EU-friendly takes a nice 9AM CET/CEST while Australian-friendly goes for a 9AM AEDT/AEST start for Australia.
Why are the 602 Races set to June and December when people get to vote about when it's happening? For the 602 it's important that this is just the rough planning. The 602 during Winter has always been in December and it doesn't look like it's gonna change any soon, but for the Summer we have had the 602 in July. Usually all races are late in the month and with the Summer 602 having the late June/early July area to happen, I set it to June to make it nicer to read. The 602 Races are the only races with voting options as they are the main events of our community. The same voting idea is also being used for 540 and 1862 Relay Races.
Is this gonna change at some point? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see what will change on our leaderboard with popularity, new games coming out that are set to join some of the categories because of our definitions and so on. But for now this is our plan for 2021 at least. A change has been made to include 540 and 1862 Relay races with the arrival of Flygonman in our Mod team.
There is no point in adding a category that first of all: hasn't been done yet. Second: Given that SMG 242 as a run is already unpopular and if you notice how long the 1862 already is, then I think you can see why it doesn't exist and why we have chosen to do 120 instead of 242 in the 1862, 982 and 602 runs.
