Which emulators are allowed are specified in the game rules. Idk about the reason but there are a few reasons i can think of as to why
so its not a horrible idea but its just another plat plus cooking pot. botw already has lots of runs like that which only do sor or plat and thats pretty much it. its not that its a bad idea, its just there is little difference between it and other cats
also just to add on to what pika said, there is a device called the titanone which can be used to script inputs and create tas's on switch and other supported consoles. it currently does support the gyroscope for the switch so it allows motion controls to be tased as well
on top of what i said about low% in the category extensions forum thread, you bring up an interesting point @pretends2know if it were the case that a bomb would be impossible hit waterblight phase 2 (which i reckon is possible from the upper floor) then a bow would be required. and if you had to use a bow then maybe the blight skip that i theorized about in the best theoretical time channel of the speedrunning discord could be implemented which would save about 2 hours ish.
did you step back when you pressed a? ther is a glitch to dupe seeds like that and the cutscene (if it appears) can bug out a bit
So we would put at the end of the rules that the *of the wild set and the dlc and amiibo sets aren't stylish(not saying they aren't) and thats why they aren't included in the run. But i agree, taking out the wild set would make this cat fun!
I mean i do have a week off in a few weeks i supposed i could spend the time doing this if people are interested. I'll draw up an official ruleset this weekend with the help of any top runners/ respected community members that i can get a hold of so that there will be no confusion about things and so that we can get 5 runs abiding by the same ruleset.
So i forgot about it for a while and came back to the idea of low% its basically point crow's bombs only run (linked below) without any prep essentially and careful walk to hyrule castle routing to avoid map completion. i reckon it'd take a few hours for the boss fights during which time, you can't be hit at all bar at most 1 of the weaker attacks from one of the blights. That as far as i can see would be the truest way to do a low%. i really like the idea though and may run it when i have time off to prep and run this kind of thing.
so any% gp and btb off the boko at tot to kak or blss then use bombs to knock them off the edge? that seems like the best strat but would only be a couple mins (4 at most i'd guess) on top of the gp any%. cool idea but it seems like its very similar to old (i think its the old one) rout for butter dog route wise
you could but it would still be an all shrines run essentially as stompee said so thats what? 5 ish hours plus the time for getting the rest of the armour so at most 6-7 hours. thats a long run for very little difference to all shrines. but if there are people to run it then i guess its a cool twist on all shrines.
I'd run this, it seems like fun and would include some interesting routing!
And amiibos are required for some sets
Or to extend the run a bit past the plateau you could add a rule to watch at least 1 of each crab species that can do the dance, do the dance
Would shrine quests be included?
The lynel is actually not too bad with only plateau gear. I say that but what i mean is after getting magnesis, there is a metalic ball outside the shrine that link can carry using magnesis to the lynel and use motion controls to hit the lynel repeatedly. Stunning the lynel with headshots from arrows is useful as then the lynel can't fight back then. The fight is over in seconds. Thats the strat used in master mode any%. So the category wouldn't be so bad and quite fun!
Also i think for what should count for % should just be whatever counts towards the completion percentage in the bottom left of the map screen
Wasn't there a run called bed and breakfast% or something that was similar to this?
So in order to get this run on the boards you would need (correct me if i'm wrong here) 5 runners to complete the run all following the exact same defined ruleset. So lets just put that aside for the moment and think about what counts towards the completion of the game so we know what we need to limit. For this we can look at the 100% speedrun as what counts towards that 100% is all done in that run. Now that includes things like shrines, bosses and most importantly, map completion. Thats not just getting a tower but local place names that show up on the map when you zoom in only show up when you have visited them at least once before so you would need to route it to avoid as many of the local places as possible as they count towards that 100% killing enemies also fills up that hidden exp counter that upgrades ememies over time so killing as little enemies as possible would need to be routed if you were to include that counter in your low% rules. I could go on for hours about all the things that need to be taken into consideration but long story short, it would take a long time to route and get the necessary people to run. But i agree that it is an interesting idea and maybe should be explored further!
P.S i say gp any% route as all catagories except for ils pretty much start from a new game and to start from the tot having already prepared items and stuff then it would just be a blss added onto the eventide il
