See in guides, I believe generally you should start when the moving pillars are in certain positions, having muscle memory and a good PC helps to shave off the milliseconds once you master it.

Get a fast computer. All I have to say. I was able to get sub-3 off camera at a friends house but was never able to get it again. All you need is a fast computer and luck xd.
