TSS Rule Updates:

Any% and Sequels Story Mode:

  • The 'Piece of the Resistance' quest after 7-5 in The Force Awakens must be completed, reaching the Episode Complete screen.
  • For a category such as All Minikits where completing the full Story is not an objective of the run, it can be skipped.
  • Any Any% or Sequels runs that did this skip in the past will have 1:35 added to them to compensate for the change. Any runs done in the future with this will be rejected.

All Trilogy Story Mode Categories:

  • You may not enter any episodes outside of the Trilogy you are running

Time Trials:

  • Using player 2 in any context of the race, even before it begins, is not allowed.
  • Switching to any other players during a Time Trial is not allowed.
  • Using the Mandalorian party dupe glitch to increase your team size while doing Time Trials is not allowed.

Level Runs: Clarifications:

  • Time starts on the black frame after skipping the opening cutscene or the black frame after the loading screen after skipping the opening cutscene

NEW CATEGORY 'Story Mode' for single episodes: Complete a single episode in Story Mode. Episodes 1, 4, and 7 will be ran from a New Game. The other episodes have save files in the Resources section of speedrun.com for PC users to use in order to run. Console players must manually prepare files for these episode runs as of now. The only upgrade allowed is Speed 1, as the game requires you to purchase it, no other upgrades are allowed in these runs. This is to keep varying amounts of Kyber Bricks between peoples file fair for all runs.

LOAD REMOVER IMPLEMENTATION A load remover is now available for use when playing the PC version of the game. An install tutorial on how to set it up can be found here:

When doing a run with a loadless LiveSplit, the timer must be visible on the screen so we can ensure the load remover is actually working properly and the time is submitted correctly. Any PC run submitted without a timer showing the loadless time on screen may not use their loadless time.

When submitting a run, you will submit the loadless time in the 'Time without Loads' column, and the with-loads time in the 'Time with Loads' column. The load remover will only be used in Full Game and Single Episode runs.

You may have noticed various community members testing the load remover over the past week, however in order to keep the leaderboard fair to those who did not have access to the load remover, any runs done before this announcement may not be submitted with a loadless time, console runs included.

Console: Loads from fullgame and single episode console runs will be manually removed by the moderators. Please don't waste your time removing the loads yourself, as we will just be doing it again anyways, just submit the run with the real time. In order to have your loads removed from your fullgame console run, you must request for it. This can be done by messaging the game mods on discord, speedrun.com, or indicating that you would like them removed in the description of the run submission. Please be mindful that these runs will likely take longer to verify, so please give up to 2 weeks for these runs.

DOWNPATCHING

We are aware that a game patch is soon to come that plans to fix many of the game breaking bugs. What we do not know is how much speedrun tech they plan to fix with it as well. Regardless of what happens, we are aware that PC players can easily downpatch and play the older version. However, this is not as viable for console players and because of this we are going to have to wait and see what is patched before we can make any ruling regarding downpatching.

PC FPS CAPPING For PC players playing in borderless windowed, there is an issue where it is seemingly impossible to turn Vsync On, which caps your framerate. This uncapped framerate can put a lot of stress on certain GPUs and because of this, we are allowing runners to set an FPS cap using something such as DXTory, NVIDIA control panel, etc. The capped framerate must be equal to or above 60 FPS though.

FREE PLAY IN STORY GLITCH

A glitch has been discovered that allows you to activate Free Play mode in Story levels before you beat them in Story. As of now, this glitch will not be allowed in Any%, Trilogy Story Mode runs, and Single Episode Story Mode runs. It will be allowed in All Minikits and 100% though. In the event a large collection of runners begins to competively run with this glitch, we may add a subcategory for it, but for now it seems apparant that there is not much competitive interest in this playstyle for Story Mode runs.

Hello everyone! Today is April 15th which means the speedrun.com leaderboard is now live! Feel free to explore the categories and submit any runs as well!

Now that the leaderboards are live, we would like to provide clarification on certain topics brought up/discovered in the community discord recently:

  1. 'Torpedo Storage', or collecting torpedoes on another save file before starting a run, is allowed.
  2. After beating 7-5, the game puts you back to Luke's Island for a final mission, however Episode 8 has already unlocked. We are unsure if leaving early here will still cause the credits to play after beating all 9 episodes. We plan on testing this very soon and if the credits still play, leaving episode 7 after beating 7-5 will be allowed.
  3. We are aware of vastly different load times that are present between different runners on the PC version. Because of this, a PC load remover is currently in the works and will hopefully be implemented within a week. Because console will be unable to use this load remover, in order to keep competition fair we will either be separating console runs into separate subcategories or we will be manually removing load times from console runs. This is to be determined in the near future. PC runs will not have loads manually removed though, they must use the load remover.
  4. As of now, we are not looking to add anymore categories to the leaderboard. As the game continues to grow and get more fleshed out, we may add more categories. We may add Story Mode single episode runs in the near future though.
  5. We strongly urge people to please read all the rules of every category they plan to submit to. Just because it was a rule on a spreadsheet/something we said in the discord does not mean it is the same rule on the final leaderboard.

Any updates to leaderboard rules will be indicated in the speedrun discord, please join at: https://discord.gg/W9YVpNXgDE

Although The Skywalker Saga launches on April 5th, no categories will be added until April 15th, subject to delay. This is to ensure that we can gain enough game knowledge to setup categories with fair rulesets before people start submitting runs. On April 15th, the categories will be added to the leaderboard and you will be able to submit. Any run done between April 5th and April 15th can be submitted after the embargo ends if the run aligns with rulesets that are established.
