Request for an any% category

I would like to request an any% category since the game plays the ending and credits sequences upon completion of the 90th level in the game. Timing is similar to the 50 levels category except it would end after the screen flash after the 90th level. Just a note that to check the in-game time after viewing the credits sequence, a soft reset has to be performed to go back to the title screen. I think the ending sequence can be skipped by pressing Start to go back to the map screen without having to watch the credits, though.

I recently uploaded an any% run on YouTube and there might be strats that can push the 50 levels category down further.

Hey darkman! Welcome.

I wanted to add a full game category from the start, so I'm absolutely ok with that. I'll add it likely today as my weekend was very busy.

Hello! I added it this morning! Feel free to submit your run and I'll download it and retime it accordingly if it's off compared to the current timing rules. I think for consistency I obviously want to keep how timing was established in 50 levels, though it sounds like you timed it similarly in 90, just so there's no different timings across different categories.

I struggle to call it Any% because of the confusion the SNES boards have created regarding Sutte and calling it that. Is there extra levels in this game? My own save file I'm on level 88 now, so I don't know if extra get unlocked after beating 90. "Any%" ended up being confusing in Sutte because of the categories they added after surrounding it. I actually contacted authorblues about that prior to making these boards and starting with 50 levels as a category.

Here's what he wrote about that:

"Its been a while since I looked at the game, but iirc, the game has progression gates, as in some levels are locked until you clear a certain number of stages (hence the 25/50/75). I think any% was supposed to be just clearing the game after the last glut of levels opened up, but I'm not sure how that works. We put the board together for the purpose of the shorter category, but we can refine the category definitions to make more sense now."

[Edit]: If there's extra levels, how many get unlocked?

Sutte historically (sadly) is unpopular as a franchise and as a speedrun, so I'd like to avoid creating a bunch of categories no one will run like on the SNES boards. 50 was a good middle ground to start and I wanted to equally as I wrote above add a full-game category.

There is a stage 10 that's unlocked after credits, with 10 levels in it. I'm still casually working through those so I don't know if there's anything after that :p

Thanks! There's no way to skip the credits after 90 without soft reseting?

I'm wondering then if there should just be 100 levels / 50 levels for categories (provided there's no more unlocked after those last 10.) Seems a little redundant to have 90, 100 and then 50.

You can press start to skip that cut scene and go straight to the map and the bonus stages, completely skipping the credits. If you do watch the credits, soft reset is required to show the IGT, as darkman noted, because the credits just keep playing forever :D

The post game levels, when completed, gives a ranking congratulation screen with your total on-game time, the number of times you used the in-game hint system, and a letter ranking. I don't think there's anything else beyond that.

That being said, the last set of levels are much longer comparatively to the other sets.

Sounds good! I'll likely make a 100 level category as well even if it remains barren for now then instead of including the 10 categories into the current 90 level category.
