I wonder why SuperTuxKart version 0.8.1 and 0.9.1 is not two different categories becouse that should be more fair. These versions are so different in many ways. Like, WindWaker and WindWakerHD are different versions so why is this not the case with SuperTuxKart?

Why not just play on the latest, since they are technically the same game? I won't fault you for wanting to play 0.8.1, but i am somewhat curious as well.

It is still a speedrun. They have changed a lot of level design in 0.9.1, so it makes difference. The two versions will not have the same possible time or the same skips or tricks anyways. Is it really that hard to make them to two different categories? They are doing it with like each remake of games even if they are technically the same game. It is not gameplay it is speedrun and small changes can change thing in a speedrun pretty much, so tha'ts why I think the rules are a bit weird. I would be really happy if I could speedrun at 0.8.1.

Keeping track of multiple versions sounds like it would be pretty hard. But this is the mods decision to make.

Could it really be that hard to have multiple versions? I mean, speedrun.com do that to lots of different games. Couldn't this be easily solved?
I actually had some problems with to get the 0.9.1 version to run correctly to be honest. That's one reason I would like to run the 0.8.1 version. But I also don't think that the rules for the game should have problems that should be fixed. Each time there is coming out a new version or remake of a game, shouldn't it be a bad idea to replace the old with the new one? The newer can have changed level design and other things and that maybe makes people loose the chance to beat the world record. If there is two categories one with the 0.8.1 version and one with the 0.9.1 people could choose. Shouldn't that just be a good thing. I actually have beated the 0.8.1 version in 1 hours, 28 minutes and 33 seconds. according to speedrun.com the world record is still 1 hour, 49 minutes and 38 seconds by Dugglez that is also on the 0.8.1 version before the 0.9 and 0.9.1 came out. But I still think it's weird becouse my time is technically faster. If you want to see it with your own eyes just seach for "ubuntujackson"(No space between "ubuntu" and "jackson") and you should be able to find my channel. But seach in the webbrowser not directly on youtube, it should be the second link.
