Making small jumps as a noob (Level 1-2)

I've been struggling a lot with executing the small jump to clear the Koopa and Goombas in 1-2.

After a lot of practising, I realised that I am pretty much incapable of executing a small jump when using my right thumb to press the B and A buttons.

I then realised that I can easily make the jump if I use my right Index and Middle fingers instead. It works well, and I am able to change hand positions before and after the jump easily.

Does anyone else do this? Is there any reason not to use this method?

that's how i would hold the nes controller if i had one. sometimes speedrunners would use the controller as if it were a keyboard for the whole run. less thumb issues down the line too!

Staircrafter Basically it’s all about consistency if it works for you then by all means do it.

That’s how I actually hold a nes controller, using my middle finger and index finger. I personally find it easier because I think it gives me more control over movement and if this works for you then don’t stop.

honesly speedrun wise, you could play with your tongue and peoples wouldn't care, as long as you're the one playing (And not cheating, i see you cheaters >:3) And as long as the way you play work for you, then its entierely fine, You Could Also slide your thumb accross the buttons, But again this is entierely up to you, Did you also know you Can skip the jump between goombas and koopa entierely? You Could litterally just Jump over them landing behind them and it would honestly Not cost you time if done properly. Find what work best for you and execute it the way you want :)
