How do I delete my save files? -replace savedata.bin with a clean file https://www.speedrun.com/sm64fps/guide/39416

How do you get all the guns without buying them? -press P + V on your keyboard simultaneously at any point to unlock all weapons

What's wrong with the 100 coin star for x level? Why didn't it spawn? -first, every 100 coin star actually requires only 99 coins. additionally, the logic that makes 99 coin stars spawn requires you to have collected exactly 99 coins. so if you collect 98 coins, and then collect a blue or red coin, you will be unable to obtain the 99 coin star because you passed 99 without hitting it exactly.

Why did a star I collected not add to my total star count? -the Bob-omb Battlefield secrets and Lethal Lava Land 99 coins stars can be spawned, collected, and bring you back to the castle properly, but they do not properly increment your star count.

Why do I lose stars when I exit/close the game? -Snowman's Land stars go away when you exit to main menu, and Rainbow Ride stars go away when you exit the entire game.

What does NG+ mean / How do you warp to somewhere else in the castle by falling out of bounds? NewGame+ categories involve use of a glitch called Respawn Bug Abuse to reach areas of the castle early on a new file by storing the respawn point of the last level you entered on a different file beforehand. In its simplest form, this involves entering a level on a completed file, such as Bowser in the Sky or Lethal Lava Land, and then exiting to menu. Once you start a new file, you can simply exit to castle and then void out (by clipping out of bounds next to the JRB portait, for example) OR die by taking enough damage (spam P+V) to be taken to the entrance of the level you had exited from previously.

Why do I randomly die when entering the first cannon/jetpack in Bob-omb Battlefield? -the kill floor of the level is above the bottom of the cannon, meaning that if you aren’t holding space to immediately fly, you’ll fall into the kill floor before touching the bottom of the cannon.

Why do I get stuck talking to the whomp king after defeating him? -while not entirely understood, there are several issues with how the main update function handles textboxes and ground pounding as well as the whomp king himself, that combine to make this softlock seem random. there is no known way to consistently make this star work, but it will work eventually if you keep trying.

Why doesn't a star spawn when I collect all the red coins in Bowser in the Dark World / Fire Sea / Sky? -these bowser level red coin stars are not programmed to spawn in the game and cannot be collected.

Why can't I properly collect any stars in Tick Tock Clock? -all TTC stars are bugged in such a way that they will not send you back to the castle upon collection, forcing you to manually exit the stage and forfeit the star collection.

Why can't I collect the Hazy Maze Cave red coins / Wet Dry World secrets star, it spawns out of bounds? -for these stars, it spawns the star at the last coordinates of a star you spawned such as a red coins star or a secrets star. to get the proper setup for WDW secrets, you need to do the BOB secrets star first, otherwise it will be impossible to reach. For HMC reds, you need to do the Lethal Lava Land red coin star first.

in total this is all 94 collectable stars in the game; THC does not work correctly and stars can't be collected there, and the bowser reds stars are not programmed to spawn in the game.
