ive seen this glitch in level 2 and wanted to use it but i felt like the normal way was faster

i think if you get in a good position for pulling yourself it will be faster because you skip a whole cycle of moving the hammer down and up.
level 1 glitchless i mean why not let's do it
when it happens randomly in level 2 you feel like it's slow because you are anticipating something else to happen but now you have to react to new situation, which slows you down.
if you play for the glitch and know exactly where you want it to place you it might be faster. it's harder to understand where the hammer hitbox is though :(
